For example those small devices that you can plug in to your cigarette lighter on the dash of your car have more square wave then true sine wave. You will notice that sensitve electronics will not work on those devices. I took a car battery inside of our house during a major hurricane only to be disapointed that the Play Station II would not work. I really needed to play "kid" cartoons on DVD to keep them occupied while we were without power for two weeks. Two weeks later I finally found a generator at a Home Depot (the last one in stock. It had been hidden by other pallets in the stock room). Boy does a generator make a difference!! We were without power for another two weeks. A month without power, and yet I still get a bill from Florida Power and Light for usage????? LOL! PS Nice graphics si_kungs!!

If they have then that will really ruin my day. I liked that camera for attaching to boat docks so that I could watch a boat/yacht. Watch a grown man cry!! Ok customers! Sign over the pink slip to your vehicle and I ll get this new camera installed for you right away! If you want a DVR then sign over the deed to your house!
-
I have used that camera before in the past, and I never had any problems with it using AVTech DVRs!! Do stand alone avoid this problem, and it is only with PC DVRs? I wonder if I got lucky, or there has been a camera change inside such as what Rory suggested.

Test it before you buy it if you can. There is a possibility that you can get "bounce back" with the IR reflecting off the inside of the dome. I am not familiar with the camera, but just something to be aware of. I agree with securitymonster 100%.

I can send it to you via email. Cost $200.00 OK! OK! I was just kidding! Calm Down. Go to this link, and use the email option, and I will email it to you (yes, for free LOL)! http://www.cctvforum.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4356

Wiring of Power Supply to Outlet
scorpion replied to voloftn's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
the white wire will connect to the wider prong of the cord and the black wire will connect the the small prong. This is correct. I assume that you have an electrical cord without a ground wire, you could buy an electrical cord with a ground if you wanted it to be grounded. If you have a power cord with a ground then you can attach the green wire to a bolt on the chassis of the box to ground it. -
I would be interested in the source for the DVR! [edit by mod squad] Thanks!
-
Is there power local to where you are going to mount the camera? Depending on the wire it may be to far to send the 9 volts. Is the camera AC, or DC? I find most cameras are 9 volts DC. If the AC adapter is used you will need to rectify the AC back to DC before you get it to the camera. You could send 12 volts DC, and see if it drops to 9 volts at 300 feet. I cut the transformer wire, and then I use butt connectors to reattach them to 2 conductor wire so that I can remote the camera. Just pay attention to the stripe on one side of the wire.

accessing Avtech DVR from Linux [Ubuntu]?
scorpion replied to Merlin's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You can try this before you buy. Go to: http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx Scroll down till you see a blue box labeled Video Serve E You can down load the viewer software, and you can give it a try on your linux machine. Please keep me posted to your exact findings as I have never done this, and I would like to know. Hit the links around as there is a wealth of information for the AVTech / CPCam DVRs. I hope you enjoy it! http://scorpiontheater.com/troubleshooting.aspx I have never used this either, but it has been mentioned. http://www.videolan.org/ I can tell you that you cannot take the hard drive out of the DVR, and just pop it in to a computer as it will not work. The files are in a proprietary format and the Video Server E can convert it to AVI. Do not forget that you can take the monitor out and hook this up to a video input to record such as a computer or a VCR. -

In the old days it was very easy, but now adays with digital and HD signals it gets a little harder. For a simple circuit you need an amplifier that is adjustable. When you mix the cable signal, and your modulated signal you can move the cable signal up, or down, and you can move your modulator signal up, and down. The idea is to have a balanced mix of both signals. If the cable sig is to high then your modulated video will look off, or vice versa. If you loop out of a DVR, or a multiplexor then on a cheap bid job this is fine, but if this is a high end job, or they are paying top dollar then you will want something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103065&cp=2032057.2032187.2032188.2032195&parentPage=family If you can run separate wires to the TV/TVS then you can hook it up to a separate video input of the TV, or you can use something like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2286098&cp=2032057.2032187.2032188.2032195&parentPage=family Check out the affinitycut.pdf link. This is really great as you do not have to run more wiring if you can get to the TV cable up in the attic!
