I just got a call from reverse 911, and the Police Dept is calling on behalf of the Fire Dept. They are begging everyone to turn off their sprinklers, and control water usage as the Fire Dept requires the water. Too many fire trucks must be dropping water pressure via the hydrants? -

Not bad. Not bad at all Rory! I thought you would have to start two weeks in advance to go anywhere!
-
Rory, you are always welcome here! Question? How long does it take to travel to Florida? Can you just hop on a plane, or do you have to go get a Visa, and all of that stuff?

I am in Florida. Do not get any wise ideas. I am not a free hotel for you to go to Disney World!! LOL!!! Oh what the heck, I pretend you are a long lost relative!!!

I just got a call and they have a lot of damage around the house but theirs did survive. They just now drove up on it. The one side of the house is scorched, and the window on that side have cracked from the heat. The electric is still out, and their water is pumped from a well so they may not stay the night. I bet it smells like a good southern BBQ restaurant there! A few other houses have not made it. -

DM DVR Micros Bus RJ Connector question
scorpion replied to scorpion's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks for the link! I had to take out the at the end of your link. You are right. This is a much better way attach the cat 5! -
Dedicated Micros I am remote installing a DM DVR, and I wanted to run a cat 5 from the PTZ controller to the DVR. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH! I cannot use an RJ 45 connector!!! It uses a 6 pin and the "clip" is not located in the center of the connector it is located on the edge. Where can I purchase these DM connectors?? Does anyone have an alternate method of hooking this PTZ controller to the DVR? I did not know if I could tie it in with the PTZ + -. NO? I didn't think so! RRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGG! Devils in the details, and the devil has me by the tail! LOL!

No. I could not get in. I do not know what I need to do to allow my computer to allow regardless of the publisher. All along I have been able to see the 9 screen, and the controls. This tells me that the router is letting me in, and you have port foward set up. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I wonder if Rory would know how to bypass this issue?
-
I opened the security tabs wide open, and it did not help. I restored back to factory default. I shut down windows firewall, and I still get my computer blocking because of the publisher.
-
My computer is set for default in the internet options security tab. I can get to your DVR, I can log in with user, and password, and I can see the request for the Active X install. Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher. I tried to allow some items in regards to active x, but that did not "release" it. So right now I cannot see it.

Wall mount or rack mount power supply?
scorpion replied to jevs's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
How do you run wiring to the second floor after the construction? The first floor is easy as you have the basement (unless you finish it out). Is there a closet, or an AC closet on the first floor, or some hidden space, and the same on the second floor that would give you a wire run between the attic, second floor, and the first floor? Is it to late to rearrange the floor plan to create an up, and down wire path? This would make it really easy to run wires, or to do maintenance later. For those who have to button up a house with drywall, and they have no travel paths, then install that orange conduit from the electric device closet to the first floor somewhere, and to the second floor somewhere, and to the attic. Later you can attach new wiring to the pull strings, and run the cables that you need. What do you think? -

If your DVR is going to be racked mounted, and you are using triwire then I would use a rack mounted power supply. This will make it real easy for cable managment. I do not know if you are using ladders with your racks, but if you are not you can set up a large pipe above your rack to drop your wire through. If you wanted it to be more of a firewall then you can use this: http://www.uniquefirestop.com/smooth.htm _____________________________________________________________ For the others who are reading this thread you will put Intumescent putty inside of the pipe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intumescent This is how we would run wires through a firewall. -
Welcome to the threads! See you on the forum!

RG58, RG59, RG6, RG11,.. how to recognise?
scorpion replied to Kurt's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would not want to run RG 11 for CCTV!! http://www.showmecables.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=2889 http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-1005_connector.html ______________________________________________________ If you really have to know what is in the wire then cut off the connector, and reattach a new connector. This will tell you real quick if it is copper clad, or copper center!! I am really surprised that there is no markings on the wire!
