HELP! You are still recording video even though you are not able to see the video on the monitor. Thats good! I could put up with that if I did not want to spend money replacing the DVR when it is still recording! You are extremely savy when it comes to troubleshooting! I am very impressed!! All I can say is WOW! When you swapped your cameras that is when I became impressed! The camera that you selected to replace the "broken" camera #1: You say that you are loosing video again?? HMMMMM. There may be a common problem. Perhaps you have individual wall wart power supplys. You could put a batteryback up on the power strip to prevent the power loss? If you have a box power supply that powers all of your cameras then I could see camera #1, and the swapped camera loosing power creating the video loss situation. Now we have to decide if it is the power box that is bad, or if you have power company brown out situation. UPS would help if it is the power company issue. Do you have another power supply to test out the system? ________________________________________________________ It could be a DVR issue. I would ask if the DVR is in a climate controlled environment, or on controlled such as installed in a garage ect. In the mornings it is cool, and in the afternoons it may get warm. With this change in temp the PC board of the DVR may be flexing. There may be a cold solder joint, or an IC chip that needs to be reseated in a socket. Other than those quick fix items then the DVR is going to have to be replaced if this is a severe issue. ___________________________________________________________ Yes, you can set up a lan, and view the video on your computer. It has a built in web browser, and no software is needed for remote viewing.

I agree with si_kungs. The question that I have is: Why do you want it to start from the begining? Congradulations on getting your DVR setup on the network!!! This appears to be DIY weakest point. You must be a computer expert!!

You are going to have to take it back from where you bought it under warranty. This is more than just a simple fix. Where did you buy it from??

I would recommend hiring a local CCTV company to comeout, and do a site survey, and have them make recommendations. Without a sitesurvey it would be like asking a surgeon to cure your ailments without looking at Xrays, or a cat scan before he cuts you open. If you are on a budget then let us know what kind of wires are pre-wired. You may have to take some pictures around your house for us to look at. You will have to decide one, or the other. Do you want to watch during the day, or during the night, or do you want two cameras to due both. Since you are asking for night vision it seems that you are more interested at what goes on at night. Buy the cameras to match your environment, then buy a DVR that matches the cameras. If you have high resolution cameras then buy a DVR with high resolution. If you buy crappy cameras, then I guess it does not matter what kind of DVR you buy. I have you read these? http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=12063 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6059 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5776 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4227 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4172 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3136 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3012 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4919 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4666 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5232 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5095 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4778 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=5257 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4954 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4890 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4331 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3907 http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=3333 PS. anyone finds any other threads pertaining to Day Night and Or Infrared, please PM me with their link. I am not familiar with the one that you provided a link for, but the ICRealtime DVR will knock your socks off while watching the DVR over the internet!!!!

I have not a clue as to why this happens!! Strange! P.S. I received your email.

This is making it too simplistic, but the Flex series is for desk top, and the Pro series is for rack mount. If you go with the Flex series then you can ask for the R30 upgrade that gives you 30 FPS per channel!! http://icrealtime.com/solutions/index.asp http://icrealtime.com/solutions/dvrfxr30.asp

Is there a source for the Alarm, and RS 485 pigtail, and connector? I also need a replacement plastic dome. One of the cameras has been "sand blasted" from the beach. I guess that is one of the dissadvantages of having cameras in a beach environment! Thanks!

That's GREAT! Thank you very much!

Ditto on the ICRealtime DVR.

DM DVR Micros Bus RJ Connector question
scorpion replied to scorpion's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It was installed by Alpha Delta Tango -
It would be bad for me to recommend a system design, and a parts list. One I am not there one site, and I cannot get a good feel of what the place looks like from a cameras perspective. Two The DVR would be selected to best match the cameras, and other required specs. I would not want to steer you wrong, and give you bad advice. You could post pictures, and show the area that you want to "guard", and where you might mount the camera. I could give you an educated guess from the pictures. Cheap budget I might select the ICRealtime DVR. Will you be doing the Alarm system also? Will you be doing the Card access system also?

DM DVR Micros Bus RJ Connector question
scorpion replied to scorpion's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The DVR was located in the small front building (Front Office). The cameras are in the large main building (Night Club). The night club camera wiring went from the club building to the office building, and the loop out went back to the night club to a multiplexor in the the club office. They cannot see all of the cameras in the office. Office camera is one! An exemployee broke a padlock to a storage room on the back side of the small building (front office), and proceeded to cut every camera, (and other low voltage wires). This happened at 1 AM in the morning (club closes at 2AM. ??) They are reroofing, and extending the wall higher to support larger signage, and new stucco work. The two cameras on the main building have been taken down due to the construction that would have video the perp. Luckly he did not know where the cat 5 that belong to the POS, and some other important low voltage wiring! I had to pull out the cables out of an underground pipe, and then I had to sort out which wire was camera, and which was loop out back to the multiplexor. We relocated the DVR in to the main building because we could not secure the wires more than what they allready were on the small building. The average joe would never had known wires were in those storage doors! I am running the DVR internet, and monitor out video back to the main office, and I need to have the controller that is located in the main office hooked up to the DVR in the club. I have the DVR working on the LAN, and I have not been able to get it to work on the outside. This morning I shut down the cable modem, and I activated the ATT modem. I do not know why they switched. They were have a lot of down time issues, and I guess they want to give the other a try. I was able to figure the wires out fairly quick, and I was able to get the DVR operational in short time. I stipped back the RG 59 without a connector, and I shoved the center conductor in to my hand held monitor, and I pressed the braid up against the bnc ground, and I found all of my working cameras. I marked those wires, and then I terminated all of the wires. I put a BNC adapter http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-1000_connector.html on a known working camera, and I hooked up the unknown wiring. I then went to the office to see if a video came up. If a video came up I would look at the 9 position screen and I would mark the wire with the number that corresponded with the number on the multiplexor. I still have a group of wires unaccounted for. One is position number 9, and I have no idea where that one is. I might get lucky, and I might find it as I may have had a connector that is not seated right. The others are the cameras that have failed, and need replacing, and there are the ones that have been taken down to keep the stucco work off of them. Other than the wire damage no other crime was committed! (????) Yeesh! What a day!!! -

Brother, You did more than just "help" out. I am grateful that there are individuals like you on this forum, and when the simple things become obstacles you can pull out an "ace"! What other tricks have you been hiding?? Hey forum readers! Have you seen C7 in CA surveillance boxes, and projects that he has built?? Ask him about them! They are awesome!!! -
DM DVR Micros Bus RJ Connector question
scorpion replied to scorpion's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I was having a panic attack! Where are these connectors used other than DM DVRs? I just wanted to know if it is going to be worth buying a crimper for a one time use? Thank you very much C7 in CA! -
Now all you need to do is make it theft proof from employees.

Thanks Rory! The zip lock bag, and duct tape wasn't working either!

Rather than a dial up connection I will be using a cellular card that will be the internet back up when the ATT Modem goes down. http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&cid=1160093298732 I just want to see my options other than two routers plugged in to a "head end" router to keep two sides from seeing each other. The POS has credit card transactions, and we would not want to have this go down.

can you introduce me a source to CCTV systems and design
scorpion replied to artin amirian's topic in System Design
Lets do this. I will have you start a new thread here: http://www.cctvforum.com/viewforum.php?f=19 These guys can answer your questions much better than I can. This is not my expertise. I have the skill to over come small projects, but I have not done a 50 camera IP system. Lets go there, and see what they have to say. Mean while you can come back to this thread to see what people are posting. -
There are many systems, and each has its own. CLICK HERE! under MANUALS AND SOFTWARE click on Access Control Scroll down to ACC - 950, and click on MANUALS, AND DIAGRAMS. Scroll down to ACC - 950 and click on acc950_userguide-2 Look at the wiring diagram on the right hand side. ________________________________________________________ Now do the same for the ACC - 1000 click on ACC-1000 Manual Read this manual, and look at the various wiring diagrams. What do you think?

can you introduce me a source to CCTV systems and design
scorpion replied to artin amirian's topic in System Design
How about an analog camera attached to a webserver, and then it becomes an "IP camera"??? http://www.cpcam.com.hk/eng/AVC733.htm I am not saying to use this device. I just gave you the link so that you can look at. What do you think?
