Open your chassis, and remove your hard drive. It is possible that you have a bad hard drive, and it is "killing" the power supply. Turn off your DVR, and remove the power cable, and then turn the DVR back on. If everything appears to work normal then your hard drive needs to be replaced. During this test you will not be able to record, and some menu options will not work. If you still have problems then it requires more troubleshooting. It is possible that the external power supply (looks like a black brick) is bad, and it is causing a shutdown situation. It could be possible that the internal power supply is bad. The external power supply can be tested with a laptop replacement power supply that comes with multitips. http://www.manhattan-products.com/en-US/products/7585-power-adapter What did you find after the above tests?

Urgent Help needed on Avtech 791
scorpion replied to rawstrona's topic in General Digital Discussion
Thank you for the kind words! Yom, yom, yom! The PC boards get stuck in my teeth! Ouch! I do not have an answer off the cuff. I do not have one to grab right this instance to make a test. Let me see what I can dig up. I would doubt that you would be able to get a license plate number. How far was the camera mounted from the plate? What is the lens selection of the camera? You may want to take your hard drive out, and insert another hard drive to keep the data from getting over written. I would try downloading the video from the local LAN also. take care, -
Avtech & EagleEyes - What version & what Phone?
scorpion replied to SteveFD's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I am not sure, but I believe the version in the Apple store is for the SATA version. It is a wild guess, but I do not think I would be to far from the mark. You might try eagle eyes old version. It seems the old version has disapeared off the internet. -
Avtech & EagleEyes - What version & what Phone?

Just a dumb question for me! What kind of hard drive does your AVC760 have? (IDE Video Server E, SATA Video Viewer) -
There are no circuit diagrams. You can make your own buy getting the chip manufacture PDF, and connecting the dots. If you DVR is dead start with the oscillators, and make sure they are working. If they are working then you should have a working board. The boards are not worth repairing as it is cheaper to buy another DVR. The replacement boards cost $150.00 to $200.00 for a 4 channel DVR.

Gotta love Hiren's, and UBCD! With Hiren's, do you use Ghost, or Acronis? http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ http://www.ubcd4win.com/ Combofix in great for Win XP. -
surveillance equipment to be auctioned off! http://www.securitydirectornews.com/?p=article&id=sd201003eUjS1r Now that the Paralympic games are wrapping up, Honeywell Building Solutions is beginning the final stage of its $30 million security contract with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police here: the removal of all the equipment that’s been installed to protect the 18 Olympic venues. But what to do with the roughly 1,300 Panasonic IP cameras, Computar lenses, 4,000 Xtralis PIRs, etc.?

We have seen an obcene amount of PC's infected that have McAfee! I do not know what the story is, but I am guessing that they sat down, and reversed engineered it, or something. Alot of the PC's are also coming with infections, but they have old versions, and have not updated their software, such as AVG, Avast, and many others. Norton 360 is such a big hog! The new Norton antivirus is pretty good. Getting on the internet is like walking in a cow field. Sooner, or later you are going to step in it. The strongest problems appear to come from Social sites such as Facebook. Facebook is ok, but the "fans of...", and sign up for a "cause" appears to be fake, and have nothing to do with what they appear to represent. There is a lot of "fan of.." for Farmville, but they are not created by Farmville. We crack up with the "I do not know how I got the virus"! We then look at the cookies, and WOW! Sorry guys, but I cannot type the URLs that we find on the cookies on to this forum! It is amazing how they can write a virus that does not affect the machine per se, but they write a script that takes over the shell. Big pop up, and no desk top, or start button! -

LOL! You know me too well!! I think it's time for the Retro Lunch Hour here on the East Coast! Can you believe 300 bad CPU were shipped out? Man, I would be a "tad" "upset" if that happened to me! On one of the other Youtube videos the guy actually installed the CPU chip!!!! It burnt out is MB!!! How is that for "on the job experience"?

Any "free" software is going to have issues. MS appears to have "wider" definitions for virus detection. I like how the virus writers now include software in their bugs to block you from going to the various scanner sites. -

Sounds like they run the outdoor for the "outdoors", and they ran plenum for "fire safety". -

The possiblitlies are there. I would doubt it. Once you click then they have your profile. This could be a marketing tool based on your postings, and games that you play, and what you "fan", or "cause" you take. What could be worse is that they get your profile, and all of your friends also. The bad is that you get a virus, and get some spyware if lucky, or trojans if you are very unlucky! I would avoid the link, but then again they have an address, and a phone number so they look legit! Those that are computer buffs can take a blank OS and click on it and then run scanners to see what pops up. If it is clean then it is legit marketing. _______________________________________________________ I find a lot of computers coming from facebook with bad infections. I believe alot of it comes from "fans of..", or from "click and support a cause". Virus writers appear to have cracked McAfee. If you have Norton 360 then get rid of it. If you have the latest Nortons then you are good. Get Malewarebytes http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html Use bitdefender http://www.bitdefender.com/ or Nod32 / Eset http://www.bitdefender.com/ If you have AVG get rid of it and use MS essentials for a free product. It seems they can write code to get around some of the free products that are out there. http://www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/. Going on the internet is like walking in a cow field. You will step in it sooner or later! -
If you cannot taper the hole from the inside then drill through the hinge. You can make a larger hole and you will not get the "tunnel" effect like you are looking through a cardboard tube. The black hinge will help hide the fact that you have a large hole verses a small hole on a white surface.

I haven't done it myself, but I have even seen one of this cameras inserted on a tree. They cut part of the outside of the tree to make the wiring and insert the pinhole camera, and once everything is up and running then tie in place the piece of the tree you removed. The tree will "heal" itself and keep growing as usual, and eventually you won't even be able to see that a piece of the tree was previously removed. I might have to do one of this shortly, if I do I will take some pics You can cut off a branch from a similiar tree. You can cut the branch in half. You can hollow it out with a router and you can install the camera a battery pack, and a transmitter. The base of the branch is where you install a large "eye screw". http://images.google.com/images?q=large%20eye%20screw&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi You can do a quick in and out by slamming the branch in to a predrilled hole on a tree, and twisting it on, and getting out of dodge!

I assume the post is hollow? You can drill a small hole near the top, and silicone a camera to the inside of the post. you can drop the wire down the post, and you can dig out from under the post to pull out the wire?
-
Me encanta el sellante de silicona!! Silicone sealant is your friend! You can make your own fence post camera! Scroll to the bottom of this webpage. The wood cutting is exaggerated for better view. The router would only cut enough for the actual cable to go out the bottom. http://scorpiontheater.com/cvr.aspx _______________________________________________________ I use the cameras that wait for the electrical line to go to zero, then it sends out a video signal. You can set up covert video recording in seconds by plugging in "normal" devices, and pull the video elsewhere for recording. The "receiver" plugs in to the electrical line, and pulls composite. You have to be on the same branch circuit, or you have to place a device in the panel that allows commmunication to go from one branch of 120 volt to the other branch of 120 volt. ______________________________________________________ You can hide box cameras with zoom lenses in walls by using a mirror. Check your camera position so the video is not upside down. You can place a hole about the same level as the electrical sockets, and cut a hole at face level, and use a mirror that is made with window mirror tint. The reflector mirror insided mounts to the studs. This eliminates the distance distortion compared to wide angle lenses. You can power the camera locally also if you have an electrical box nearby.

Have you ever done video over power such as clock radios, and air fresheners, and other devices where you pull the video from the power line?

Hello! Those of you who are on Facebook. I am looking for fans, and friends! Thank you if you can help! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=199815&id=335162771182&saved#!/pages/Palm-Bay-FL/Scorpion-Theater/335162771182 Take care!

Nice job! I quit buying the premade covert exit signs has they never would pass fire code. I prefer to use the original if time permits, or I buy the new LED style. It is fun trying to stuff a cameras in places. I love the " Wow, how did you install it in there"? Have you ever done fiber cameras?
