Help please I need firmware AVTECH 761 with Italian language
scorpion replied to peppedv's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I have a bad feeling that this is an English Firmware even though it came from an Italian down load. The title has the same numbers as an English firmware. -

Front Door Camera Placement Help (terrible sketch attached)
scorpion replied to moe's topic in System Design
I would take the camera, and hook it up to a portable 13 tv, and I would stand on a ladder in various places. Look at the TV screen, what you see is what you get. This would answer the question for me more so than anything else. If all else fails, and there is an attic space above the front door, then try a ceiling mount position. -
I am looking for a little help with my first IP system.
scorpion replied to rkm's topic in System Design
I do not specialize in IP cameras so I will let the other experts chime in. I will however give you a few links. You are probably familiar with these, but I posted them for the other DIY who read this thread, and want to do something of their own. http://www.channelvision.com/index/15/25 http://www.hometoys.com/article.php4?displayid=906 IP Cameras http://www.corinex.com/web/docx.nsf/w/eng-corinex_powerline_ethernet_adapter http://www.netgear.com/Products/PowerlineNetworking/PowerlineEthernetAdapters.aspx CPCAM http://www.cpcamnewyork.com/remote.htm CPN620 X10 Transmitter CPN621 X10 Receiver CPN622 Two Channel Receiver CPN626 Home Plug Ethernet Bridge http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/ _________________ -
I do not know your product list, and I do not know what protocal you have, or plan to use, and what kind of wire is between the gate, and the residence. I hope the PDF of the manual, and the remote software helps you out! Good Luck!

Tell me if you have access to the DVR, or are you located away from the DVR, and can you make a phone call to the site of the DVR? We can ask them the IP address because it is located in the menu page. You should still be able to connect using the remote software as it should remember the last IP address used. You can also open the address book, and enter the IP address, and you will be able to retain the information. If you can hook up a cross over cable for a direct connection to a laptop, then you can connect to the DVR, and download the software from the DVR directly. You do not need to set up the DVR with remote access, (unless you are not located at the DVR site), You can install a "temporary" IP address in to the DVR through the menu pages. Is your AVC 777 still operational? If you place that hard drive back in to the DVR (with the power off!!) can you still bring up video footage that was recorded? Why do you want to come straight off the hard drive? The only way to view the video footage is with the hard drive in the DVR. If your DVR is inoperative, we can still put this hard drive in to an identical machine to pull the video. This DVR does not format upon hard drive installation. You will have to record the video footage from the DVRs monitor output. This can be plugged in to a VCR, or a video grabber plugged in to a computer/laptop.

was it set to an address originally, and then you changed it to #1??
-
What about setting it to an address, then let it go through it's start up procedure, and then changing the address again, and let it go through the start up procedure again. I was wondering if this would force it to re-evaluate the system? For others reading this post: http://www.integraltech.com/FileDownloads/901c55_Integral_PTZ_RS-422_Field.pdf http://www.tycovideo.com/products/speeddome_housing_ultra_indoor.aspx

What are you using to control it? ADTT16e?
-
Too many variables! What is your level of expertise on these products? I assume you know how to put in an address for the camera? I assume you have the + wire, and the - wire hooked up correctly? I have assumed that you have reversed the wires as a troubleshooting procedure? Is this the same camera that you were having problems with before? http://www.cctvforum.com/post-67929.html Is there anything in this topic that can help? http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1110

We have had the same weather for over a week now. It could be sun shiny in one time frame, and in another it could be grey, overcast/cloudy, and the rains come in "bands". These are storm clouds that come from the major part of the storm. As they peal off, we get momentary weather "extremes". Once the band passes by, then it is back to an overcast kind of day. The only worry for us the past few days would be to have a storm cloud "cell" that could spawn a tornado. For those of you who are not familiar with a hurricane take a look at a Florida map. Where the land juts out in to the sea on the east coast, that is where the rockets/space shuttle go up at Kennedy Space Center (non military (to some degree), and Canaveral Air Station (military rockets). Cape Canaveral is a city south of the launch area, and south of there is Cocoa Beach made famous by the I Dream of Jeanie TV series. (This is where they catch chocolate fish for Shamu at the Sea Aqariums)! South of this area is Melbourne Fl. If a Hurricane were to hit a little north of Vero Beach, and it is a Cat 5, then we in Melbourne will get ripped a new one like you have never seen!! Are you confused? Here is why. Look at the rotation of the storm. It goes counter clock wise. When the eye wall is hitting north of Vero Beach, then the rotation will send the worse of the storm clouds to the north of the eye. We in Melbourne will receive the "brunt" of the storm. The damage in Melbourne will be the same as the small area that was hit with the actual eye of the hurricane. Now look at your map again. Look for Patrick Air Force Base, (formally the Banana River Naval Station of WWII), and look at the area just north of Patrick, and South of Cocoa Beach. The barrier island is very, very thin. If a cat 5 hits directly near this area, then my belief is that we will have a new inlet!! If you are an investor then I recommend that you buy land along Merrit Island west of this area. You will be able to open one hell of a Marina to cater to this new "inlet" to the sea! QUESTION: If a hurricane exceeds the wind speed of the category number 5 then would that be classified as enhanced as ..... Cat 5E ??? LOL!

Here on the east coast it has been windy, and over cast the past several days. Tuesday was not a good day for installing cameras. Mark said that he was muddy from head to toe. Trenching was not a fun project for a rainy day. He said he tried to dodge the rain, and work in the attic, and go back outside as it passed. He did not seem to happy at the end of the day.

how much for installation
scorpion replied to texasdyme's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
In my quotes I will put in one column (item description) the amount of labor hour estimated. (this is on the high side). In the next column for product info I put the actual hour charged. If the job goes longer than actual amount charged the customer is happy as they do not get charged for the extra hours. If the job goes longer than the estimated hours then we charge for the extra time. I did have one customer that kept changing his mind, and he had us placing cameras in different places then where we noted that they would be installed at the time of the site survey. He was also a jerk. Every time some issue came up, then the first thing that would come out of his mouth was "do I get a free camera for that? There was one mistake made at the time of the site survey. Hey, mistakes happen with sales people. Oh Well! Win a few, eat a few, it works out in the wash. This guy says that one of the cameras on the house is wrong. One of the cameras is supposed to be out by the street! You guessed it. No bid on the extra wire, no conduit, and no labor figured in. I called the sales guy, and he denied such a request ever came up. As a "favor" we went ahead, and planted a 4X4 pole, and ran the wire in conduit. We did not charge for the extra wire, conduit, or labor. The first thing he says is Yep You Guessed it! Since you messed that up do I get a free camera mounted on the side of the house? This was a wall where no camera was bidded for. I was shocked, then I was pissed! We finally were wrapping up the install, and had everything almost done. This guy is still coming up with a list of complaints. I looked at my watch, then I told all of the guys to get in the van, and I handed the guy a bullet camera, and said congradulations! Here is your free camera, and we left! The DVR was still in the van, and we just finished the interior wiring. All that was left was the hook up to the power supply, and installing the DVR. What was originally a 7 camera, 4 hour job on site turned to a 9 hour job on site plus more to go. The bid said 8 hours estimated, and 5 hours charged. He says, "Hey! Where are you going? I said your 8 hours are up. Have a nice day! He took one look at the camera, and one look at us as we closed the doors, and drove off! He calls me on my cell phone, and he asks, are you guy coming in tomorrow? I said we sure are! Will you be paying cash, or by check for the installation tomorrow? He got the point, and we showed up the next morning, and had his system up, and running in hour. I said just give me a list of 10 people who can use a system like yours, and there is no charge, and we will mount the extra camera for you too! I already ran a prewire for an upsale down the road. We were already there, and an extra wire was no big deal! One satisfied customer, and a list of 10 more to call! -

Quote from the Bagel Store Hi! What happened was I bought this machine from next door neighbor who was quote unquote in the "security business". Well that went sour fast. He brought the dvr over new in the box, and basically he just pluged it in, and left. At that time all the functions were acessible I have experience in the computer field so with a manual I can get around. ie- cd writer , backup , network in the advanced portion of the menu tree were all there, and working he had told originaly it was supposed to be 500gb. I opened it when he left. Also at this point in time he had done nothing to configure it what so ever for lan access, or anything else. I saw the hard drive was a seagate 160gb. The next day I bought a brand new seagate 500gb from circuit city popped it in the hard drive, it works, but the (cd writer ,network and backup) function were missing from the menu tree, and of course not accessible. I took it out, and I put the original one back in, and still have no backup cd writer or network functions. I have not seen my neighbor, nor does he answer his phone, so I basically wrote him off. I am stuck with this problem, and I dont know where he bought it from. I am guessing a supplier of sorts, and avtech in itself does not have much of a support system either. I also tried the reset factory settings in the menu a few times, and still nothing. I appreciate all your help. ___________________________________________________________ Here is a hard RESET. scorpion replied to thebagelstore's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Which DVR do you have? http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13.htm Do you remember the new hard drive information? In other words: was it a random hard drive from a used computer, or did you match the information from the manual, and did you buy the hard drive new? How did you get the DVR? Did you buy it off of EBAY, garage sale, or did you buy it new? If you bought it new: Where, and when did you buy it? In other words: Is it still under warranty? If it is out of warranty, perhaps I can contact their tech support, to "get to the bottom of your troubles". You should not be having the problems that you are having. I would say: can you hear the sounds that a hard drive makes? I know this is silly, but perhaps there is a power supply problem, and this explains why both hard drives are giving you problems! This could be the wall adapter problem, or it could be on the internal power supply. It is possible that your electric company had a flicker, and a flash moment, but this is usually cured when you unplug, and replug the DVR. I know alot of what I am asking is ridiculus, but then I am not looking at your machine in front of me, and I need you to make these observations for me! There is no "information" on your hard drive. There is no past video. This is probably why you can not use the CD burner as it cannot find any video. It is possible that your DVR is set for motion detection. It also may be that the motion detection field is not set correctly. In other words when you go in to the setup screen if it is all pink then the camera is motion detection blind. If the screen is clear, and you can see the squares "highlight" as it detects motion then it is set correctly. For you other readers who are reading this post, you can find the detection setup here in this post. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10207 As for the internet remote. Do you mean that you cannot get to the DVR from the internet at all? Do you mean that you can see your menu, but you cannot pull up past history? What does the screen say when you press the PLAY button? Thanks
