i have a toughie question about tv out.
scorpion replied to cctvlad's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
If all fails then you can get a product called a video extender. It send video wirelessly. You have two units, one a transmitter, and the other a receiver. Make sure you get one with an IR extender. If the DVR can be controlled with a hand held then you can control the DVR with the video extender. By the way, there is no privacy using a video extender as others can receive this signal. The wattage is very low so you do not have to worry about a real wide area coverage. -
What type of power do I need for 300' on ir led's
scorpion replied to GunRunner1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Here is a formula for voltage drops http://www.altronix.com/index.php?pid=4¬e=1&PHPSESSID=4bcb5bfed2f00ae9bbd6242504f6acd6 You may need to adjust your voltage to say maybe 15 volts so that you have a good 12 volts at the other end. Did you say you were pulling 3000 mmil amps total? I hope you are using the best power supply you can get! Are you using a home made power supply? I would go with SureVeillance tip about using 24 volts ac (heavy duty), and converting to 12 volts, at the IR end. -
12V DC or 24V AC ????
scorpion replied to nationwidesystems's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hello Nationwidesystems! Distance wise it looks like you are ok for RG 59. You will need a large gauge for the two conductor for power. http://www.altronix.com/index.php?pid=4¬e=1&PHPSESSID=4bcb5bfed2f00ae9bbd6242504f6acd6 Perhaps you can use a higher voltage at the DVR end to make up for the voltage drop? If you use AC it may be possible to have a ground loop issue. -
Nubix will work with no-ip.com. This will work with any AV Tech / CP CAM / Nubix DVR, and most others. Here is some info from a manual I hope this helps. Scorpion Network The network configuration allows the DVR to connect to an Ethernet network. Static IP: Enter the “server IPâ€

Hey CraigVM62 Sounds like you had a bad day! Sorry to hear that! I am glad that the camera was part of the alarm system! I wish more installers did this in our area. I never had a camera ripped from the wall. I did have someone take a pipe cutter, and cut the conduit. I am still laughing about the guy who stole a camera right out of my shop! He needed the wireless camera more than I did!

camera screen freezing for few seconds
scorpion replied to cycop's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Can you take a camera, and plug it in directly to you PC DVR? If the cable was a long run it would cause a voltage drop that the camera may not agree with. If it is a long run then the video may fall apart before it gets to your DVR. If you can try a camera locally this will tell you if it is a power/video problem or the DVR itself. What kind of mother board are you running? What chip set is it? -
Nice Website!! You are doing business in Dallas, New York, and Baltimore? Let me know when you go in to the Florida market!

Toshiba ik-6410a day/night camera problems
scorpion replied to ericm23's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Here is a trick. Unmount the camera, and see if the video clears up. If it clears up then it is a ground loop issue. It also depends on what kind of RG 6 you used. If it looks silver on the braid then you may have the wrong wire. If the braid has a copper look to it then you have the right wire. How long of a run is this wire? -

Those plate covers can be defeated. Easy to do. If you buy one anticipating running a red light in the U.S. and slipping past the red light run cameras, forget about it. Total waste of money. The spray on stuff from the local "Spy Store" is worthless also. These may work on low lit areas with the cheapest cameras used for surveillance, but then again a cheap camera cannot pull in a number.

Sounds like what I need for a project on 70 acres in North Carolina. What would I need to budget (retail) for a project like this? Ballpark figures are OK.

I am not really sure. To my knowledge they are the manufactures. There are various vendors that carry their products.

How do you guy's focus a camera with out two pepole??
scorpion replied to GunRunner1's topic in Test Bench
CRT Cathode Ray Tube It has a glass "picture". CRT TVs tend to be deep from front to back. LCD are very Flat. Feels more like a plastic "picture". CRT will have a better appearance when you look at them. They are much brighter then LCD. In a bright area such as outdoors you will have to cup your hands to shade the LCD screen to see the picture. -
How many ir's do I need for a 20X20 area in total darkness
scorpion replied to GunRunner1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
the red glow means it is getting power, and it is working! I do not know if it is getting enought power though? It should work for 20 X 20! Hmmmmmmm ???? -
You should be a saleman. Your gear is rock solid, and very impressive. You should "tag" up with a CCTV distributor, and make some money on the side selling specialty power supplys!! You NEED to sell your DVR in a nema 4 enclosure to us distributors/installers. I love the brass air intake, and air outlets! Water proof to the max!! Rock solid! I have home owner associations that always wants champaign, on a beer budget. YOUR enclosure with a DVR would be great for a lot of these places!!! Take care cachecreekcctv!!

What type of bulbs should I use for exterior lights
scorpion replied to GunRunner1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The street light style one would really be great!! Test the camera, and the lights before you do an install! The lights next to the camera may cause some glare! It may, (or it may not) work better with the lights, and the camera seperated by a few feet.
