Yes. I have seen this on the orbix systems. My demo DVR uses this software, but it is an older version.

I do not know what DVRs you are using. If by chance you are using Video Server S, and Video Server E, then you can Video Server E to look at both systems. Beyond that I have no help to offer.

Have you done press releases? This will cost you time, but not much else. You can email press releases, and you can fax them. Send these to every newspaper company, and to included the "home town newspapers" as well. Email these to Radio Stations, and Television Stations as well. Don't just send out worthless articles! After a while they will ignore you! To make it easy on yourself you actually have to think like they think. This might be an important story to you, and you believe that everyone will want to print it. This will not be the case. They look at their main stories, and then they look at the press releases that match the editorial content they are interested in! _______________________________________________________- Here is a good way to get printed. SSC Company has installed equipment for the city of........ ___________________________________________________ This is a really stupid idea that I had. I used this on a different business. I DBA another company name. Using this company name I "attacked" my first company to hell and back. It was such an attack that it made this second "company" look bad! It actually drove people to "my" company because I never took the "cheap shot" back. I got this idea from the old days of the Burger King and Mcdonalds "burger wars". The question is who won? They both won! They are the leaders in their markets, and they have drove out most of the weaker competition. Any one remember Burger Chef and Jeff, or Burger Queen? Dairy Queen is finally making a comback. Whataburger dominates their market, and Jack in the Box dominates their market. What ever happened to Royal Castle? For me this was just a marketing ploy, but it did work. I quoted high on the "ficticuous" company, and made some good money out of it. The best way to get "advertising" is to have the newspaper come out and do a story on you. Such and Such company (SSC) donates a security system to the womens battered shelter... SSC donates to the Sherrifs kids ranch.... SSC donated security to the surf festival (major one).... SSC donates system to the elderly community center..... SPEND YOUR ADVERTISING DOLLARS HERE instead of "real" advertising. You will get more bang for the buck! If you are good enough to be highlighted by the newspaper, or the TV news than you must be "reputable". Issac can atest to this with the video footage on the TV news and the exposure he received. If they come out with a new technology then call the technology reporter, and have them run a story on it. ___________________________________________________________ If you are a start up company then incorporate a name such as Society of Security installers, and integrators. Now DBA your trade name. Now you can receive honors from the Society of Security Installers, and Integrators! Send yourself a plaque! You think I am full of sh..? Look at subway sandwich shops. They are incorporated as Doctors Associates DBA Subway. Look at the ad posters. At the bottom you see Doctors Associates. This makes you think this food is "supported" by in Association of Doctors doesn't it? Things that make you go Hmmmm!

The cameras sound better than what I would have expected out of a "kit".

If your camera has a connector for power then the center is 12 volts dc positive, and the outer part is the negative. Install the camera wires first than hook up the power supply. I have seen some people hook up the power supply, and then go and crimp on some electrical "butts". In the process they shorten the wire by cutting off an inch or two. The cutters cut across the black and the red wire causing a short. You may or not blow the power supply. If you are lucky you will only have to change a fuse.

We would need more information. What are you trying to protect? Your car/cars, a boat, a shed? Do you live in an area prone to crime, or are you being proactive in case something happens down the road. We would need to know the distance from the cameras to what ever it is that you are watching. How far is it from the camera to where your cars are parked? I would imagine that your car is more than 5 feet measured at the rear bumber. What is your budget for a DVR? What is your budget for your cameras? What is your total budget to include all items? I know that you said that you are going to use your computer to put the video on your hard drives. What programs are you running on this computer? Is this just for a "hobby". If this is going to be a security system then you may want to remove all of your programs, and tweak the system to meet your security needs. If you wish to use wireless cameras then you will need to buy the best grade that you can. Look at the wattage. How many walls will this signal have to penetrate to get to a receiver? These are usually designed as "line of sight" devices. In some cases you may have difficulty with wireless video. You will have to expect flicker, and momentary loss of video in cheaper designed wireless cameras. I would avoid using the 2.4 Ghz freq. What kind of Cameras do you need? Are you trying to avoid the "trashy" video that you see in some of the news footage of crimes? When it gets dark at 5 pm how will you get video in the dark? Are you going to buy specialty license plate capture cameras? I would highly recommend that you contact a local CCTV dealer, and have them design your system. This wil need to be done correctly if this is for security purposes.

If the camera is hidden, how can you see it? Does this neighbor live beside you? How can he tape you inside of your garage? If this neighbor lives in across the street from you then how can he tape you on the back patio? __________________________________________________________ Why is he/she taping you? I can only guess at your situation. It may be that they believe, or have a false belief that you have somehow "wronged" them and they are video taping you to have the video shot of you doing something that they do not approve. They have made you so angry that now it is easy for them to get video footage of you in a "rage", or a temper tantrum. DON'T GIVE THEM THE SATISFACTION! Remain calm. Everything is going to be alright. You have done nothing wrong. They will not have any video footage of you doing anything. When they call the police to show them the "documentation" of nothing on video, then the police will just look at them and say "so what"! Then they will leave. I have seen it in the past where some neighbor "starts it", and then video tapes the angry "target". They have video of someone screaming, and yelling, and cursing, and also punching trees, or at a fence, or a car, and the video may have threats of violence, such as I am going to kick your .... When they show this to the police the other neighbor looks "bad", even though the first neighbor "started" it. If they are video taping you there may not be much you can do. Remain Calm, and do not do anything! If they are audio taping you then look in to your states rules about audio taping. Does your state require you to notify all parties that they are being recorded? This may give you a way to protect yourself. Audio taping in not allowed in most places. Keep a jounal. Write down dates, and times that you see them video taping you. __________________________________________________________ I would suggest hiring a private detective. I would have the PI video tape the neighbor who is video taping you. This PI will be able to give you an affidavit for court. _________________________________________________________ If this is a long term problem then try this. Go to a hardware store and buy lattice material. Stand it up on end, and bury it in the ground or make some kind of stand. Grow some ivy, or some kind flowering vine. This will make for a privacy screen.

I would highly recommend having a technition come out and take a look at this. It may be a voltage adjustment, and you will have to hook up some test equipment to get it set properly. If it is not set properly it may damage your cameras, maybe not right away but it can cause problems later down the road You might try posting a picture.

Use a tablet instead of a laptop, and draw a diagram of the building, and the camera position, with the stylus, and use lines to show the "view". Wide pieshape lines denotes wideangle view, and a thin pieshape for narrow view lenses. You can email them the diagram with the quote, and product specs.

What would happen if you just used regular bullet cams? If you could submerge a PTZ, how would you maintain the covering from algae, and lime, or anything else that can block the view? Too bad you could not use rain X on the "glass". I would imagine it would it would poison the fish.

Is there a warranty on the first DVR that was giving you problems. If there is, please do not open it up. You may void the warranty. If there is no warranty, then you could open it up, and see if the pc board has a brand name, and a model number, and a version number. If this product does not have a "warranty tape", and/or if you had to open up the case to install your own hard drive then you can look under the hood. For the DIY (DO IT YOURSELFER) PLEASE be careful. Unplug the device, and wait 5 seconds before you open it up. Get rid of static electricity by grounding yourself prior to opening the case. Don't you hate it when you get static off of the car seat as you are getting out, talking on your cell phone, as you are throwing your cigarette on the ground? Does a mag stripe reader create static as the card is removed? LOL!

They were very impressed with the video play back. It had the clarity that they were demanding! They are happy, the people who built the shoot house are happy, and I walk away being the hero! Whew!

If you are not aware of it please be advised that the Flex 8 only shows 2 cameras at one time during playback! I would not use this for a sherrifs dept training environment. The cameras are on a fake "house" in a live fire shooting range. They use this for an after action report after a live fire excercise. IC Realtime says that the Pro will give me multiview playback. This is only over the internet. If your install does not use the internet, then do not use a Pro 8 as this is designed for a server room.
