  1. Hello! Not sure what you are describing. If you can manipulate the button across the top then you are connected to the DVR. If you cannot change full screen to a selected camera then that is odd. I would first want to get another computer hooked to that internet wire. I want to test that the cable is good, or that the router has a bad port. (OK! OK! I am grasping at straws!) If another computer has this problem then troubleshoot. If the computer works fine, then the problem is with your computer. At first I thought you might be logging in with a user / password that only allowed you to view, but if you can do this on other computers then that is not the case. I would have thought that you did a virus removal and a file got taken out, but reloading the software should take care of it. ************************ Here is what you need to do. Remove the software again. (I know, I know). Now do a search for various keywords for video server e, video playback ect. We will want to hand remove anything that survives. I think the software is removed, but some traces are still there. When it is reloaded it does not copy over top, and it just uses what is already there. Once you are sure that everything is gone then reload the software. It is a stretch, but what do you think?

    Avtech AVC792 DVR

Sorry! I do not know why the manufacture does not create a circuit to do as you ask! It is cheaper for them to install a single chip that is a built in sequencer. They do not spend money for the engineers to create the right circuit to control the chipset. Less engineering, and cheaper retail pricing. You can put the video loop out of camera one to channel 3 video input, and camera two loop out to channel 4 video input. It will appear that you are sequencing two cameras. What do you think?
  3. [quote="tomcctv yellow cable ???? yellow is video white or red is a audio. did you make the leads or did they come with system ??? It is common for installer to buy single yellow 6 foot cables. We can get them by the case for .99 each! They would use two cables. One for monitor, and one for audio. Three way cable with yellow, red, and white are more expensive, and most times we are just plugging in video and the red, and white would hang wasted, and unused. Perhaps this is the case?
  4. This DVR is not junk. It is a solid performer. I have 2004 models that are still kicking. (AVC 773, AVC 774) The make it, or break it will depend on you having a battery back up. It is the line filtration that is important. The power line will put nails in the DVR coffin. Condition the power and it should run forever! You actually have the more desirable model. (AVC 760 old, or newer AVC760AS) I believe yours has the IDE hard drive. In otherwords you have an older model that uses JPEG. In other words you can email images!!! This feature was lost when they went full MPEG, and we can no longer email images with MPEG. Excluding the hard drive you can hold this DVR over your head, and throw it on the ground hard! Excluding broken plastic from the front menu it will probably work when you reinstall the hard drive! I do not recommend that you do this, but that is how tough this little bastard is!! I do not know if they gave you Video Server E (IDE version), but you can also use Video Viewer (newer model version or SATA hard drive version) for remote view. As a side note you can take the Wireless Swann cameras and toss them on the floor and they will keep working. I do not know much about the wired Swann cameras. Most of the Swann products are manufactured by others and OEM under the Swann name. Swann has decent tech support, and they stand behind their products. I am sure there are "horror" storys about Swann somewhere, but they should be very rare.
  5. If you can hear audio on your audio output then you are good to go. Over the internet requires that the audio icon be in the right setting. It has a blue, and a yellow setting. Put the icon in to playback mode, and you can hear recorded audio. Put the icon it to live mode, and you can hear live audio. The remote setup does not allow you to manipulate the settings for the audio. You are better off leaving it in the live mode, and listening to playback audio throught the front panel. The setting may default if the DVR loses power, and you may have to reset it through the panel for remote listening.

    losing static IP

It is rare for a DVR to change it's DVR static IP address. Is it "defaulting" to an IP address from the factory? One: It may be an "APPLY" button that is getting overlooked. In other words you type in the static and then leave the menu, and the static defaults to what it was before you made the change. Two. The battery is bad on the PC board of the DVR. There may be a power outage, and the DVR defaults to factory settings. A clue would be having to change the date, and time as well. What do you think?
  7. Ditto! Delete Temp Internet Files. This should allow it to reload. You will may have to go in to internet options > Security Tabs, Custom Level and change the active x settings to allow "Download unsigned active x controls" to prompt.

    Holy nude person batman!

Yes it is true. It started with Sony camcorders. They had a nighvision circuit. If you opened the camcorder and enabled the night vision during the day it would allow you to see through thin clothing. It is just a wavelength that allows viewing through materials with an IR pass filter. http://www.kaya-optics.com/products/experiments.shtml http://www.kaya-optics.com/products/overview.shtml

    AVTECH DVR

Do you see your DVR within these pictures? http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx
  10. In reference to looking for a distributor, and they all appear to have the same features, and products, and pricing then I would say pick one that is closest to you. It is great to get your products next day rather than waiting 5 days for it to come from the farthest distance away from you. Having one that has an in house text support is the best feature if they all appear about the same. What do you think?

    AV760 login problem

You will not be able to remotely reset the DVR if you cannot log in to the DVR. I would try admin / admin Then I would try the last user / pass that you created. To reset the DVR to factory default try through the front panel throught the menu. If that does not work then you can do a manual reset. http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx

    Wireless Camera recording

Take the receiver video out, and plug it in to channel one of the DVR's camera input, and you should be good to go!
  13. They have 5 video, and 5 audio sources. They have one box for audio switching, and a 5th mic is connected to a louroue base station. They have two boxes for video switching. One is an A / B switch, and the other is 6 channel video sequencer that also allows them to lock in on a specific video channel depending on the position of each channel's 3 position toggle switch. It is one of those kind of situations where the system has been built on top of, and added on to as time progressed. I only saw the equipment for 60 seconds before there was a lockdown. I will be going back soon to complete the site survey.
  14. You will need to take it to a qualified tech to have it looked at.

    Wireless Camera recording

Hello! For short term recording you can use a VCR. You will need to get a VCR tape with as long of a recording time that you can find. Most tapes will be 120, but you might be able to find a 240, or a 480 tape. You will plug the output of the wireless receiver to your VCR, and then from the VCR to your tv. Here are some notes about wireless cameras. They are not wireless! You will need to power the camera, or you will need to change a battery everyday! The distance of most wireless cameras are 300 feet line of sight. You will need to cut that in half and only use 150 feet. The signal will reach 300 feet, but the strength goes down with the distance. Think of a triangle with a ramp shape. Close has the most power, and the small point is the least power, or no power at all. If you penetrate walls then it is no longer in sight of the antennas. You will have to move the receiver closer to the camera as you go through more walls. The other thing you need to be aware of wireless camera that have IR is that they are rated at 30 feet. You will need to cut that in half also. Now your camera's night time visiblity is 15 feet with IR. How far is the back of your car from your camera? You may need to get a 60 foot IR camera to watch your car at nightime! Do not forget to add the height of your camera also. One failure with seeing your car is that most wireless cameras are wide angle lenses out of the box such as 3.8, or 4mm. Anything past 20 feet will not give you a good look at the person near your car. They will be so small in the video that it becomes a waste of time. You will need a wireless camera with 60 feet of IR with at least a 6mm lens, but a higher number would be better to watch your car, and you need 1000 feet transmitter, (or move the receiver closer, and wire it back to your recording device). You can buy a DVR and record your footage. If you buy a 4 channel DVR you can add more camera later! You can buy a USB device that will record video to your computer. What size is your hard drive? Video will eat up small drives in no time! Any questions?
  16. Are you using Eagle Eyes, or Eagle Eye New?
  17. I prefer the method hooked up to a router for testing. The fact that you have a cross over cable hooked directly to you laptop tells me that you may not have the laptop set up as a static ip. You seem like you know what you are doing so I will rule that out. Try connecting to the DVR via the browser to rule out the Video Viewer as a problem or... You may have lost the internet server on the DVR. Did you say you can ping it? What port is the DVR set for? Place it back to 80 and try again?
  18. Are you a tech? Can you check the voltages with an Osc? You may have the voltages, but the external power supply may be leaking AC. Can you get another external power supply to test?
  19. Hello! I wish I had the opportunity to bid on this job! Perhaps you can take a tour of an election supervisor's warehouse to see how we covered all of the election equipment, and the balloting areas as an idea to add to your plan? I will not be chiming in on the equipment, but I thought I would put in my two cents. When it comes to your equipment it does not matter the specs in my book. It is the job that the camera has to do that would dictate the camera specs, and model numbers. I am guilty of using below par cameras in some spots allowing me to go up above par in other critical areas. I use the teeter totter approach when selecting cameras, and equipment based on the environment. I see that "security is of the essence". I see that you want to "see" what is going on with the property. What I have not heard is: Will the tenants be accessing the video? Will the garage have license plate recognition releasing gates? Will you have at the road level a camera that catches the plates? Will video be viewed by Iphones (PDA, or other cellular) by security, or the directors? How will you get the video of a tresspasser to the police dept? You say you have on site security, and I would ask do you have a system to watch the watchers? In other words can you trust the security, and if so how do you document what the condo association pays for. In other words do you have it set up so when a guard walks a path that it is verified, and he is not sleeping, and just writing on a log sheet that he performed his route? Do you have layers of security. With this price tag I would be using plant life to add to the security level. In other words I like hedges and a sidewalk. The hedges "funnel" people to the sidewalk allowing you a good facial shot, and if they go through the hedges then let them have fun in the brambles! Do not trust anyone to include the "alarm, CCTV, and security trades. Know how to changes your passwords, and codes as soon as they are off site! I would run a week without passcodes to allow for training then use the passcodes given by the trades, and then I would lock out the trades with new passcodes. In other words how much would someone pay to get on your property by bribing a low level tech that had access? Do you have someone to do an intrusion test? In other words can I bypass the alarm sensors on the doors allowing entrance? If there is a situation where a guard has to respond then would it not be valuable for him to see video while mobile getting to the site. Is it a fight? How many are involved? Is there a perp? What does he look like? What is he wearing? The guard can get instant info if he has some kind of device allowing him to monitor video. It could be cellular based such as a pda, wifi based such as with some "phones" with wifi ability, or it could be a wireless analog monitor on 2.4Ghz that is patched through to the transmitter by the central control. If I kill your power to the complex what happens to the electronic access? Do they remain unlocked due to the lack of power? What is the contingency plan in this situation? I would have traditional mechanical locks in place when power goes down after a power outage, or a hurricane. Do you have batteries, and an inverter to jump in for temp power outages? Do you have solar power, or a stand by generator? If you have a stand by generator then I demand an inverter, and batteries in case the generator does not come on. I recommend IP based equipment. In other words you have a new contractor (lawn, pool, AC, plumbing) and he shows up to take care of an issue. He cannot get in because someone gave him the wrong code, or he wrote it down wrong, or he just showed up from a phone call. Someone can log in to a computer and add a passcode, and then delete the passcode when the contractor is off premise. Make your system flexible, and redundant. What if the guards go on strike? What is the back up plan. Set up your security system to allow for this contingency. What if you cease a contract with one company, and start a new contract with a new company, but they do not overlap timewise? What if there is a gap between one service leaving, and another service starting? What if the economic future dictates that you must stop using guard services for a time frame? Plan now, and then you will have a smooth future! I am not saying you have to go out and buy all kinds of crazy systems. I am just saying think about it. Invest in the infrastructure now. You can alway install the wiring now, and then when the "contingency" situation comes up, then you can buy what ever products you need at a later date. If the wiring is there then you are good to go! If you have "holes", or gaps in your property coverage can you use paintball land mines to mark an intruder in blue? He cannot deny being on property if he is marked! I have more to say if you are interested.

Who is the Bosch Divar Expert

Hello! It is a 16 ch unit. On a computer when you press the Export button you have to go back in time before the Export "button" "lights" up. It stays "greyed" out. Going in to the menu all of the cameras are set for NO Block. If it is set for no block then I should be able to export video from earlier in the day, or the day before. I had to go back to the 8th it appeared. I did not get much time to look at this as I was asked to leave so they could secure that section of the building for an "incident". Any ideas how to export immediate footage? I will have to go back and look at it again. Thanks
