Password Recovery AVtech 4 channel DVR via Video Server E
scorpion replied to Hoon's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hello Hoon! This website may be of some help to you.. http://scorpiontheater.com/troubleshooting.aspx http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx http://scorpiontheater.com/avtparts.aspx http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx Panel password 0000 (Enter button 4 times) Video Server E admin / admin You are not alone in these issues! This is why I have put as much effort as I can to be a value to the CCTV community in regards to AVTech. I was not quite sure what you meant. I am not a network expert so I will defer to you. Video Server E can be used to "find" the DVR if the network is setup properly. Use the Search Icon (eye glass icon) Let me know if the Video Server E can find it. -
Your specs are to vague. This covers almost every DVR out there. What is your budget? That will dictate the company you selection more than anything else. What kind of warranty are you looking for? Cheap parts in a DVR make a cheap DVR no matter what the specs read. Are you looking for full tech support with the DVR? This will narrow down you company / DVR choice real fast! Are you doing your own installation, or do you want to hire a company to install it? If yes then you may be limited to the brands that a specific company carries. You may need to shop several companies to see all of the available options. What is the installation environment? Air conditioned IT room, or a military conex in the desert?

You have a date time failure, and you have an audio code failure on the same machine? -
What signals do you see on the board with a scope? Are you sure the clock oscillators are working?

Need Help Choosing Security System

Can you hire a local company to do the design, and install, and have them provide techsupport, and warranty? -
You said it perfectly! Well said. No one here on this post ever complained of a smart customer that I am aware of. I think everyone on this post would agree a "smart customer" IS the best customer. Smart customers do not ask intensive questions to learn a system. They will hire you for your expertise instead. Smart customers are not rude, and take up three hours of your time while three potential customer come in, and never get the opportunity to ask questions, and they leave empty handed except for picking up a business card. Smart customers make appointments because they want you to see their house before a design is issued. Smart customers ask smart questions that can be answered because they need knowledge to compare models, brands, and "put in the latest technology hype". Smart customers do not ask questions in a manner that you have to whip out your professor hat, and provide a full course in IR cameras, lens selection, compression methods, hard disk drive capacity selection, wireless vs wired. I see that you are offended by price fixing. I must of missed that thread as I never seen anyone talking about price fixing. I would think that it would be impossible to do so, and pay for a brick and mortar store. I do believe an online website might be able to do so, but search engine study would preclude that site from the selection. If you think someone is price fixing then it should be acted on. I think you should report it to the state attorney of the one that you are accusing. If you do not then you are part of the problem, and not the solution? I think the post below your post where you have accused someone of price fixing should have a request to the Admin to remove said person/company from the forum. I do not think anyone on the forum would want someone, or a company to be doing that as it would give all of us a black eye. It is bad enough that trunk thumpers give our business a bad name let alone a "supposed" respected dealer. I thought that this was the complaint of most dealers, and the subject of the post? _________________________________________________________ OK everyone! Lets hear your favorite story about a grifter who tried to chisel you out of your knowledge.

I do not know what to tell you. Do you have anything plugged in to the audio? If yes, then unplug the audio input, and outputs. If you still have the code then do a system hardware reset. http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx Hopefully this will clear out the trouble. If the hardware reset does not work then the chip inside has blown. You will have to return it to where you bought it under a warranty. If it is not under a warranty then you will have to find an electronics shop that has the ability to remove, and install the chip. Finding the chip will be hard. They are easy to find in lots of 100 or 1000 but not as one piece. Sorry to tell you the sad news. -

I do not know of any sources. I wanted to be the USA source, but I could never get enough people to buy from all over the states. Then the economy went down hill, and made everything worse. I wanted to carry replacement parts such as external, and internal power supplys, fans, and parts, and spare HDD keys for the older models ect. I will have to put off my "dream" for a while. There is always next year, and I can hardly wait.

Interesting. I would assume this is a DVR that will allow you to log in through the browser. (Some only work through some kind of software). I am thinking that you need to resolve the browser log in problem first. If it works through the browser locally, then it should work through the browser remotely, and then you can switch to the DNS address.

Extreme interference with active baluns

Has there been a dry spell, and all of a sudden you have had rain? If yes, then you have a ground loop problem. This would be where you have several different buildings such as a camera on one building, and the DVR in another. Is this the case? Then ground loop isolater, or isolate the camera mount from the wall it is mounted to (such as metal warehouse buildings). Another thing to do is to kill the power to the cameras, then repower them to see if the problem goes away. If yes, then you may have had a power fluctuation where the cameras went "tilt" when the power came back on. Is this the case? Then add a battery back up. Are you running 12 volt DC, or 24 volt AC? ____________________________________________________________ Note to others who are coming to this post from a search engine. If you are running cameras a long distance from the DVR then use a very large wire to run power. Use 24 volt AC power. Get cameras that are dual voltage. The cameras will work off of 24 volt AC. At the end of the line where the power has dropped down to lower voltages (lets say 15 volts ac) the cameras will pull the lower voltage, but will convert it internally to DC, and it will be above the 12 DC threshold, and it should work. You will have to experiment what will work best for you. This design is a bandaid, and does not replace good system design. This would be common to large "mini warehouses" where you have a front office building, and several buildindgs to the rear. Most have a "vertical building to the left, and horizontal building at the "top", and another "vertical" building to the right creating a box, and maybe building in the center. It is common to see the wiring going from an office building to one of the buildings on the right, or the left, and to travel all the way around all of the "outside" buildings". The runs can be so long as to cause video problems at the "end of the line". -
Have you tried logging in through the browser? Also through the browser you may have to end the IP address with the port number. 192.168.0.10:75

AVtech 8 channel AVC785 does not want to start up

It appears more hardware related. I would try another hard drive first, and second I would try another power supply. If it is under warranty then I would get an RMA number, and send it back! -
New home - need mid level cctv system

You do not have to run RG59 siamese. You can run the cat 5, but I would suggest a separate two conductor for power. You can use baluns at both end to connect to the cat5 for composite video. When you switch to IP then you are ready to go. PC based verses standalone. Too many variables in the equation. Simple? Then I say standalone. If you were doing access, plate recognition, and CCTV then the PC based would be the ideal situation. I do not do PC based DVRs so you will have to get with others on recommendations. I like the standalone DVRs as they reboot, and continue on after the power has gone out. There is no OS system to deal with, and you do not have to panic over update tuesday wrecking things up. For a high end system where you have to have an operational system 24/7 then a PC may be the better option has you can get a power supply from any PC store. Standalone are not plug and play with parts. Since I am not a computer person than it was better for me to go the standalone route. I do not know about bios settings, and how to shut down services that are unneeded to make the system super fast so that it can render all of the graphics without lag. If you are an IT guy then PC base may be the way to go. One thing to decide at this stage is where you are going to put the DVR. I would say avoid the master bedroom as the fans can be noisy, (PC, or standalone). Are you doing a structured cabinet for wiring? You can run a DVR composite out to the cabinet, and then you can tie in to spare coax to send video to other TVs. You will want dual coax runs. One for cable / sat, and the other for your DVR video. You will have to switch the video inputs on your TV to switch back and forth. If you have a shelf for the DVR then make room for a nice size battery back up. You do not have to install it right away, but you have room for it down the road. You can prewire an internet AP on the first floor, and one on the second floor, and set it up with POE. This will allow your Wi fi enabled cell phones to connect in to watch video. What do you think of those ideas? -

You can find PTZ cameras that run 12volt DC, or 24volt AC. -
This does not sound right to me. I have worked with several "consultants". It is usually the other way around. They make up the spec, and send it out to everyone for bid, and the one whose bid is excepted is the winner. If the consultant is asking for product specs then I may be apt to think they do not know what they are doing, and they are collecting a paycheck without providing a service to the paying customer. I would have to avoid this bid as the customer may have a failure. The consultant is going to blame me, and I am going to blame the consultant. I am not going to eat something unless there is a large mark up. There is not much of a mark up because the consultant should be protecting his client. You might have a wrong lens selection for a view. Who is to blame? I know this is not the case with you, but you can have fun here in Fl with all of the wanna be's.

I have started a parts page and I got as far as the AVC 760, and the economy crashed, and this project lays dormant so I have not gotten to your DVR, but you can check to see if it uses the same parts as the 760. http://scorpiontheater.com/avtparts.aspx
