    Remote Viewing Software

I believe you can only use the proprietary software that comes with that DVR, and not others. How does it look through the browser?
  3. This is beyond my scope. I wonder if Java can be modified to do what you need? http://scorpiontheater.com/javaapp.aspx

    What DVR is this??

Thanks RickA! I spent the weekend in Campbellville. They were greatful that I brought sunshine with me! I got a call from someone with troubles. Their CCTV business went under, and they came to me from a search engine. They have video issues. I am guessing it is the video octopus. Do you sell those individually as an accessory? It is a 25 pin Dsub.

    Cities see burglaries fall

In the US the break ins are down. Most are done by the teenagers after school before people get home from work. Now that the economy is bad there are so many people out of work, and are at home that the break ends have been reduced. I would agree with the article.

    DVR 760

Are you refering to an AVC 760? Do you have the AVC760 (IDE HHD), or do you have the AVC760A (SATA HDD)? I have never heard of this model DVR having this kind of a problem. Did you buy it brand new? I would take it back to your distributor for warranty. Did you buy it used? Have you tried a hardware reset? http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/Hardware_Reset_AVC760_761_CPD560.pdf Does it hang remotely? Are you using the browser, or the remote software. Would the hanging up be more based on the computer you are using, and if you go to another computer would it work fast, and be reliable. Is your DVR old? Could it be the hard disk drive is getting to the end of it's life cycle? Perhaps you have an external power supply that is giving your hard drive a fit? DVR networking: http://scorpiontheater.com/videonetworkingwithavtech.aspx I cannot believe that the DVR will not connect remotely, or locally. Something is not right. You will have to give us more details as to what you are doing, and how you have it set up. Worse case is to change out the chip that controls the internet connection. U19 RTL6201CP http://scorpiontheater.com/avtparts.aspx For recommendations I would still say get an AVC760A!
  9. I just had a customer ask where to get a replacement pigtail for an 8 channel DVR. Can you recommend a source? Thanks!
  10. Does it look like any of the DVRs on this webpage? If yes, then it would be admin / admin if it is straight out of the box. Did you buy it from someone else that may have chaged the password? You can do a hardware reset: http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx Default is admin / admin Do you get The requested U R L was not found on this server ? http://scorpiontheater.com/url.aspx

  12. I need more information as to what you are trying to do. You might be able to do something with a browser feed, and then create a page that goes over top of it with a hole in the template where the video would poke through. You would have to get with a C++ programmer to create that though.

need help with old dvr hdd

Yes, this hard drive needs to be formated. You do not format prior to inserting the hard drive, and it is done in the menu as stated above. Main Menu > Hard Drive Setup > Master HDD Format. Put in your password, and it will format. Default password is 111111
  14. If it sounds like whirring noises then this is good! Video is graphic intensive, and without the fan, the chipsets would burn up. OK! Maybe not right away, but it puts the nails in the coffin a little sooner then it should. Try the mouse pad, and let us know.
  15. I am not familiar with this DVR, but I find it surprising that you can hear the fan through the ceiling. Fans are noisey, and I do not install DVRs in masterbedrooms because of the noise. Is it a whiring noise, or does it sound like bad bearings? In the case of the sound traveling through the ceiling, then I wonder if it is more sound vibrations that are "creating" the sound, and if you could put the DVR on a pad, or towel to isolate the vibrations to prevent sound from traveling through the structure of the house.
  16. There is not other way to do it as you have mentioned. I am surprised that you cannot find some footage with the motion event log. How far back does your motion event log go, or is it completely missing?

    Installers prices?

How much does it cost to have your oil changed? How much does it cost to go to an automotive store, buy the oil, and filter, and do it yourself? He may be buying the same camera that you bought. He is allowed to make a profit, and there fore explains the cost difference. I had a guy do it to me on a camera install. I got even! He did not like my prices moaned, and groaned. I got a call later because he had a problem with the kit that he bought. I went over there explained the manual to him, and showed him how to set up groups, and users so that he could use his DVR. I went back to his restaurant with my family on the weekend. I handed him a carton of eggs, a package of bacon, sliced bread, and a can of cornedbeef. He got my hint loud, and clear! He got a big chuckle, and gave my family the best meal we ever had! He did not use the stuff I brought, and he did not charge me for it! We get a good laugh every time we bump in to each other! He sends people my way now!

Looking How to Build a Power Supply

I could not find a picture of a giant 24 volt transformer! The two transistors are from an X Y monitor such as Tempest, and Star Wars. http://www.kronjaeger.com/hv-old/hv/do/sparks/index.html

Looking How to Build a Power Supply

the transistors are 10 amp 80 volt 150 watts. Short the 12 volt leads, and you are going to get a nice little spark! Game: Pull the wires apart before they weld, but keep the arc going!

Looking How to Build a Power Supply

If you have to ask how to build it then are you qualified to do so? I think it is cheaper to buy one then to buy the parts individually, and to assemble it. If you want to do it as a hobby then see if you can pick, and choose from here: http://scorpiontheater.com/pstips.aspx

    Java viewer

Sorry to deviate away from the question. It caught my eye that you were having problems with Windows 7, and I wondered if this was isolated to you, or if all AVtech users will have problems with Win 7? Do you think it is an active x issue? If it was a browser problem then you could delete temp internet files, and this would allow you to reload the active x. You said that Video Server E was not working?
