Firmware / Software for Avtech 761
scorpion replied to Thaleshwar's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Do not format the hard drive!!! Out of the package, and staight in to the DVR. You will have to look on the inside of the DVR to see if you have space for the two hard drives, and if you have a dual power connector, and data cable for two hard drives. It can power two hard drives with no problem. -
On my website http://scorpiontheater.com/law.aspx scroll down past the fence camera pictures to the Shoot House pictures. Towards the bottom of the page there are some pics of how I strip, and connect. I am not saying this is the best way. I am just saying this is one way of many that you can do it.

This is one that is easy to work with. http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CatalogSearchResultView?D=970408&Ntt=970408&catalogId=10051&langId=-15&storeId=10051&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntx=mode+matchall&recN=0&N=0&Ntk=P_PartNumber This is another style that I have. It works great on RG 6, but not so great with RG59 especially the cheaper product types. It is great if you need to make a "custom" cut rather than a traditional stripper type of a cut. The one that I have looks similiar to the first link. It had a "stop" on it to place the coax up against. I broke the stop off so that I can get a longer "stinger" on the center conductor for my twist on connectors.

I prefer a needle meter (or an analog meter as they call it) rather than a digital meter. The reason is that I like to see the meter. Digital ones are hard for me to read. If it has back lighting then that would help that situation. I like the needle type so that i can watch circuits with resistors, and caps. In other words I can see a decaying voltage as the needle sweeps to 0. The digital ones seem to "jump" around while I am on a solid constant voltage, and I cannot see a decaying voltage with the digits hopping with wild numbers.

Avtech AVC777 External Power Supply Info Required

Ouch! I do not know what to tell you. For the reset to work the DVR has to be unplugged. Place a tool across the pins, and then you have to plug the power back in, and you have to wait several seconds. With the large size of hard drives, and the low cost of hard drives then motion recording should not be such an issue? In US terms in CIF / BEST you will get ~ about 3 weeks. I do not know what that will do in FRAME. I wish I could be of more help.

Firmware / Software for Avtech 761
scorpion replied to Thaleshwar's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You do not need any firmware to install a new hard drive. Take the new hard drive out of the package, and put it staight in to the DVR, and you are good to go. I do not recommend updating the firmware. -

What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
scorpion replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
If you have flashing in the video then you might have to try replacing the ballast until you find the problem light. It should be an electrical problem with the actual lighting. It could also be that your camera is teetering on the lux values, and you may not be getting enough power to the camera. You can try an extension cord, and power the camera directly. If you see the flutter in the video then it is not the camera, and it is caused by the lighting. Try replaceing the camera to double check as a part inside such as a cap might be leaking creating the flutter. I am still going to bet on a bad ballast. Inregards to high resolution: How does HDCCTV fit in to all of this argument? Is it analog since it is not on IP? 1080P on coax! Now that is what I want to hear! -
In regards to the 2.4Ghz, then see if you can assign your wireless router to a different channel that is away from your wireless camera setup. The biggest problem with wireless camera with the transmitter built in to a camera is that the wattage is very low so that it does not create heat, and burn out the camera. Wireless cameras work great until the antennas cannot see each other. Once you pass the signal through a wall then the signal drops. If you penetrate a second wall then you need to get the transmitter (camera), and the receiver closer together. You can put the receiver on the inside wall closest to the camera, and run video wire back to the recording device. This is the same problem with wireless routers. If you are only concerned about a wireless internet connection in a room that does not receive a signal then you can buy a one watt wireless router. If you have cameras, and phones then you can anticipate problems. With wireless cameras then you have to break away from built in transmittors, and go with external transmitters. Your costs will soar equally! You can also switch to IP wireless cameras. You do not have an interference problem, and you have resolved another problem that we have not talked about. Analog wireless cameras can be seen by anyone! You next door neighbor may have a wireless "tv" baby monitor, and they may be able to see your camera video. Outdoor cameras may not matter, but indoor ones may be a privacy concern. What do you think?

If it was a sunny girl then I could care less! LOL! Rory, you are right it should be in the Test Bench area.

It came about in many different ways. I may be pounding my head against the wall, and then I "Google" for answers, or I am working on a project, and I start "researching". There have been customers that have wanted an oddball solution to something, and I try to find a "trick". Some of it come from looking at one item then going on a tangent. Portforward leads to router info which leads to the home page of a list of companies, and then on to wireless info, and then you stumble on a forum for something, and you find a help tip, or a valued link, and from posts in the forum you find another website that has tips, and tricks, and then you find the link page, and you tangent down the line. I do not know how many years there are, but a minimum 5 years all together, and maybe 2 to 3 years on the AVTech stuff. I work with PI, and spy shops so I end up doing GPS searches, and wireless camera searches ect. Sometimes I will see a post at CCTV forum that makes me want to learn more, and I do it more for my own "giggles". The website was actually a beta test that Microsoft who asked me to test the product, and I just built that site as a dummy site. When MS went live with the product I continued to add pages from my own notes. It is kind of nice to see someone with a question, and I can do a quick cut, and paste to provide the answer, or the info. I see about 4000 hits on the website and I can see what people type in to the search engine that brought them to my site. Interesting stuff if you like to track trends. I can see the moment that a company goes "green" and they no longer include paper manuals in the box. I get hit all at once with "manual AVC 760.....videoserver s.... (S??? Who is still using s???). If I had more time I could clean it up some, or add more stuff. My business advisor has told me to shut it down, or charge for the services. Wow! I made it free to help people. The economy is making it so that I have to charge for manuals, and downloads. Maybe it would be better to let the site go. I do not know what to do. Yeesh, this economy sucks!

What kind of marketing campaign, and advertising are you doing to start your business?

EDITED:(I have changed my mind about twitter since the original post. You can find my new thoughts if you scroll down). What is all the hype about Twitter? I cannot turn to some news show without them babbling about twitter! I have tried it, but I do not seem to catch the "bug" as others have. http://twitter.com/scorpiontheater I thought it was supposed to be addictive? I am following Tony Hawk, George Stephanoupoulos, Ashton Kutcher, and David Gregory. I cracked up when I read that Ashton Kutcher is tired of being "punked" by every customs agent! I got bored following other people. I do not need to know what someones cat is doing every 5 minutes! Wow! Keep the potty time slots to yourself! LOL!

I am surprised! I thought everyone would jump in to get your business. There are three things to look at. 1. Resolution 2. FPS 3. Compression Resolution: CIF, or D1. D1 is the better of the two, but more expensive. FPS: If you are looking for a 4 channel system then you will want a machine that does 120 FPS (30 per channel). Compression: JPEG, MPEG, H.264. H.264 is better in some cases, and it is more expensive. If budget is of the essence then pick two of the three, and sacrifice one. If the budget is really tight then get a JPEG machinge that does 7.5 FPS with CIF. If you are doing remote viewing then I suggest the H.264. I myself sell the ICRealtime DVRs with the D1 resolution. I would probably put an AVTech DVR set for Frame in your store. It is easy to use, and it is not expensive, and it should do a great job depending on the lense selection of your cameras. Surveillance kits out of the box are the worst to pick for your store. This is because they come with wide angle lenses, and you have a distance distortion which leaves you with poor facial shots in the video. Have you checked your local surveillance showrooms to see demo's? Any questions?

I agree. What I have found is that Twitter has marketed this concept to the "individual" user. This is to generate as many accounts as possible. What people are missing are the applications that can be used with twitter. Everyone thinks twitter is the "hey look at me" when it really is an application tool that the end users are not familiar with, or do not care to use. I can use an application, and I can have it search for "cctv". OK that was bad. CCTV is a China TV station. Lets use "video surveillance". I now see all of the Twitters that have the "video surveillance" in the post. I can see end users, and I can see distributors, storefronts, and wegsite sellers. I can tailor this information to what I am looking for. I can find new technology being discussed, or a problem that is starting to peak for a brand, or a product ect. It is amazing how I can bring up 3 screens all at the same time. I can see my regular Twitter acount, and I can see my word searches, and the third column, and I am seeing it all in real time. Communication that is instant, and it is in real time. That is cutting edge technology!

Any interest in "Video E Server" automation script
scorpion replied to todd2's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I would be interested in the information. Thanks! -
Can you find a battery that matches the voltage, and current rating? You can always solder wires to the board. I am assuming that the warranty is off.

Other DVRs to compare with Intellicam 4XLA

I have to make a correction. When I said tape the top of it I was refering to the piezo device rather than removing it, and voiding the warranty. -
Accessing DVR (eg AVTECH) inside impenetrable network
scorpion replied to cyber_wop's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The plug and play camera can be found at any "spy shop", or video surveillance shops that carry covert camera / DVR all in one objects such as air purifiers, mantel clocks ect. -
Other DVRs to compare with Intellicam 4XLA
scorpion replied to todd2's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The Piezo, and the relay can be quieted in the menu selections. There is no need to pull it out except for the power up cycle. If you hear the power up beep that much, then you may need a UPS. You can tape the top of it to quiet it as well. -
Don't feel bad about the mod edit. I had one in the past that edit a link. The ironic part was the link was from the banner ad from above. Try reposting a link that is neutral.
