My email is full from people asking about SATA drives for AVTech DVRs. They could use a IDE to SATA converter. I thought I would pass this on if you are a HD dealer, and you can sell in Pakistan. http://suntelecommunication.com/Contact.html Take care,

Everything you need is available from Eclipse. Perhaps you should talk to CCTV Imports. They are closer to you then Eclipse, and they are a banner ad sponser. I have never bought from them, and I have never heard a bad word about them. All you need is a 30 foot IR throw cheapo bullet camera, and a cheap entry level 4 channel DVR. The siamese cable is easy to get, and the power supply is your option. For cheap, cheap jobs then use the wall transformers. For 4 cameras, or more then it would be better to have a boxed power supply. I love the AVTech DVRs. You will see "professional installers" laughing about entry level AVTech DVRs, but with my customer base they are my life blood. Simple to teach, simple to use, and simple to install. You do not need to be an IT tech to set them up. If you can find a DVR that is in that price range, and it is a better product then go for it. Forget products, and names. Your customers are going to dictate what you sell. Find what matches what your customers are asking for. If it is cheap is what they want, then cheap is what they get.

I see here that no one has responded. Do you have a lot of cash, or are you doing the shoe string budget, and a hail Mary like I did? Are you going to be in the industrial warehouse, or are you going to have a store front? Are you only doing CCTV, or do you do HomeTheater, or something else? Here are some products that are great at "quick sell". various pepper sprays various stun guns wireless cameras (yes, I know they suck, but they sell) rf bug detectors camera finders digital audio recorders (the kind that come in a kit) diversion safes (you know, the hollow hairspray can) decals, and stickers spy glasses driveway patrols, or monitors window contacts door contact terminal window contacts terminal door contacts security device "knick nacks" keyloggers child safety devices and regional devices (hurricane survival here in FL) GPS binoculars and more This will help pay the rent while you are waiting for the big camera jobs to come in. As you do installs keep the boxes that the stuff comes in. Close it back up nice, and neat, and tape it if you need to, and put it on your store shelves. Now it looks like you have a lot of stuff in stock. You can give the " a guy just came in before you and bought the last ones, but I can have it for you tomorrow. Now you do not need a million dollars in inventory, and stock. You can go to SCORE, and have them jumble some numbers together to give you an idea about how much you will make, and how much it will cost you to run the store. What do you think?

How to view video from Hikvision 7204 on a cellphone
scorpion replied to CHOPRAMO's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I find it curious that you can see AVTech DVRs with a Macbook. What kind of browser are you using on the Macbook? Are you using the browser to view the DVR? I would have thought you would need to use Active X. Thanks, -
Here is a picture of what one looks like. Scroll down to the device that has the LEDs surrounding the view finder http://scorpiontheater.com/BUGDETECTORS.aspx

How to view video from Hikvision 7204 on a cellphone

I am not sure of the problem. It may be that you might have to upgrade your connection with your cell phone company so that you can stream constantly. Connection to a webpage, and to a DVR may require different plans. I truely do not know, but give them a call. Find out what it would take to connect your phone to a laptop, and to give the laptop an internet connection via your cellphone. This might allow you to connect to your DVR. -
There is a "view lens" device that you peer through, and you can find hidden cameras in one second flat! It does not have to be operational nor, it does not need to be powered to find it. It will not find cameras hidden through fiber optic though. It can find cameras hidden in objects such as behind tint on clock radios, and the such. There are also monitors that have built in wireless receivers, and they scann through the wireless camera spectrum. When you see video then you wave your arms to track its origin. There are devices for the electronically taught where you see the scope signature of a wired, or a wireless camera. You will find motion detectors in a lot of hotel rooms. They are more to control the HVAC, or to determine room occupancy

Strange question of the day: Why coax cable?
scorpion replied to Jeroen1000's topic in Security Cameras
Hello everyone! I am ready to throw out all of my customers SD analog cameras! You know the expression "and don't let the door hit you on the way out"! The true answers, and questions about HDCCTV will revolve around cost factors. If you cannot replace the customer's cabling, and they cannot migrate to IP megapixal cameras, then HDCCTV will be a large revenue stream for your company! This will be a boon to many mom n pop video surveillance companies that have never learned more then just networking a DVR to a router. Will the IP megapixal market "fight" the HDCCTV market to win market dominance? I look forward to pulling some cameras off of some building here in the near future! -
Strange question of the day: Why coax cable?
scorpion replied to Jeroen1000's topic in Security Cameras
It is because no one has pulled 5 million dollars out of their pocket, and developed it. You could easily shop around the different camera manufactures, and get them to agree to buy so many units, and to support a standard that you will issue. Once you have enough preorders it should be easy to get a bank to loan you the money based on your preorders. I think you are about to become very rich! -
LOL! Take some cards, and write "hello there"! "why are you watching me"? "are you God"? and so on....

Strange question of the day: Why coax cable?
scorpion replied to Jeroen1000's topic in Security Cameras
If quality is of the essence then you would automatically switch to IP cameras with megapixal. Why use an analog video with YPbPr or RGB when you can go digital? -
You can buy a kit in the box, but beware that cameras that come with the kits are wide angle, and will have a distance distortion, and they are rated 30 feet of IR, and that is effective at 15 feet. Any thing beyond the 20 foot mark from where the camera is mounted will require a higher mm number lens. Measure from where the camera is mounted out to the area where you want to view, and double this distance for your IR distance, and buy cameras that fit in to this spec.

I see what you are saying. Make some card to put in front of each camera. As you get in to view of the camera look at your watch, and write down the time, on the card and stand it up for the camera to read the time "stamp". Place a large clock in front of each camera. If you cannot place a clock in front of each camaera then use shadows to help denote the passing of time, or be creative for your application. Mask of anything that may trigger recording. Lets say you wait a half hour, or an hour. Now go in front of one camera only. You are recording a matrix of all of your cameras. The cards will tell you if all of the cameras are being recorded, or if only the last camera triggered was recorded, but you are seeing a matrix of one new recording, and "the last video recorded" on each channel. Does that make any sense. I think you may see all of your cameras, but I think it is only updating the last camera "triggered". Different DVR react differently depending on the chipsets. There are also some DVRs that record a matrix of all videos. You can spot these as they eat up space on a hard drive more then they should. These are more common with 4 channel enty level DVRs.

CCTV Tech Wanted for (1) Camera Install in Lake Charles, LA
scorpion replied to Fusion6's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hey! Thanks for the link! I did not know this was out there! http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Download I think you have opened a whole new window for my website! -
I was thinking that the DVR is working perfectly fine, but the recording function is just info going to the hard drive. If there is a power problem, or a hard drive problem then there may be no recording. If the DVR has been around sometime, then perhaps the hard drive would be an easy "target" to blame. If the hard drive is known to be good, then I have no idea what the problem is.

CCTV Tech Wanted for (1) Camera Install in Lake Charles, LA

That is a very interesting concept! I never thought about that style! I wished I had more time to work on the website. I have so much more to add, but the files are just sitting there, and gathering dust. I wish I knew how to "open" up the website so that others could add on, or make changes. I would have to post a password to allow changes to be made in page design. A very interesting concept! -

I apologize! You are right. I had nothing to add to your post, and I was just being silly. I never meant you harm. Other people read all of these posts, and they pop up on google searches, and you are right I was just being a classroom clown. Again, I am sorry. -
CCTV Tech Wanted for (1) Camera Install in Lake Charles, LA

Flight from Florida to LA $400.00 Hotel for one night $100.00 Perdiem $60.00 Rental Car $40.00 Roaming charges on cellphone .20 cents extra. A day to install one camera, and a chance to have a one day vacation: Priceless! -
This is the camera that I use about 90% of the time. I retail it for $900.00 http://eclipsecctv.com/SP300E_MINI_PTZ_CAMERA.html I deployed one ICRealtime ICR 100X. I did not have much time to "play" with it before the install. Out of the box I have no complaints. The camera swivels 360 so there are no stopping points, and having to reverse direction to see past the stopping point! So far, so good. It say WDR, but lying on the floor with light coming throught a window it did not appear to be a "strong" WDR system. Lack of time does not allow me to learn more. It connects well to an ICRealtime DVR with no problems. The DVR is remote mounted. I purchased the best controller that they offered. The controller is IP based if you ever need this function. I do not use the IP function, and I have it set up for RS485. Device number 2 is the DVR. I have no complaints about the camera. I do have a complaint about the high end controller that I puchased. I have it set up to contol the DVR, and not the camera. Through the DVR I control the PTZ. No problems so far, but when you press the 4 camera view, or 8 camera view, or the 16 channel view then you do not get what you selected. In other words it is as if all the buttons are the same, and you are just cycling through the selections. If you press 16 view it goes to the next in line. 1, 4, 8, 16, and the various positions of bigger windows with small windows surrounding, or all windows the same size. The camera does not look "toyish" so this camera gets my vote. I have not worked with it very much, but so far so good.

I was not sure about the question as worded, but yes it motion detects the cameras that are "enabled", and records to the hard drive. As to why the DVR defaults to manual record: I wonder if someone is pushing the record button on the panel?
