Most of the time it might be that they changed a chip set, and the new firmware allows the chip to fit in to the "family".

Down load this pdf http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx Lets do a hardware reset. Set it up for manual recording only. Turn off timer, and leave the motion detection off for now. enable manual record, and lets see what it does from here. If it goes out again then it might be a bad hard drive. The hardware reset should get help out any chip set that needs to clear it's head per say. let me know how it goes.

Is there a demand for a remote power off device via remote?
scorpion posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Is there a demand for a remote power off device via remote telephone, or cellphone? I would have to order 300 units. This device plugs in the the power socket, and a telephone line. It would retail for about $115.00 US. You call via a telephone, and you can control the device. You can reset routers, and computers, and other devices by remote. There is also a device that can receive cellphone sms, and this can control the power device. This device would cost about $300.00 retail US. Both together sound interesting, but I do not see any demand for it. What do you all think? -
Try xantech equipment, or you could try Radio Shack IR receiver LED.

Hiding a pinhole/bullet camera on a windowsill looking out ?
scorpion replied to Thatcher's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
As long as you "shadow box" the window so that no interior light is within the window area then is should work. Also you can open the window, and insert a piece of wood between the window, and the frame. Paint the wood so that it does not stand out. You will need to find a way to secure the window such as with a piece of wood in the track, or a locking device, or what have you. Now attach your cameras on the outside your house, or your apartment without getting a letter from the front office about drilling holes in the building. Now someone will give me the window is unsecure lecture. OK! I threw a brick threw your window! Now is the part that you tell me the motion detector caught the brick in motion, and set off your alarm. If they move the window then your motion detection will catch their fingers when they poke through right? -
You want the car to be as close to the camera as possible, or to use a zoom lens (telescope) to get up on the car. You will need something to slow the vehicle down such as a speed bump. Gates are great for a choke point. You do not want the car to be driving fast past the cameras. You also do not want the cameras to be pointing at the road with a 45 degree angle. You will want the camera to be looking more down the road straight at the plate to make it work.

I am not sure about your situation with this DVR as I have never used it. Are you using motion detection? Are all of the cameras marked for detection? Are all of the cameras "marked" to record? Other then those options, then I do not know what to tell you! For the UK contact Securicorp. If you are a dealer then contact AVTech directly to purchase in bulk at retail. http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/cctv.aspx?Type=3&Type2=2

I use AVTech 90% of the time in my installs which are residential, and light commercial, or mom n pop businesses. I have not complaints. If I do then I use a DVR that cost 4 times the amount, or a $4000.00 DVR. If cost is of the essence then AVTech wins! Avermedia appears to be close to the price range, and I have heard good things about their DVRs. I do not have this option in my supply chain so I have never ordered one, or used one. AVTech has my vote!

If security "is of the essence" then I would change the hard drive (drives) every so many years, and I would also change the power supply every so many years. Keeping the old ones for troubleshooting, or for back up when you have failures.

There should be no problems with your version. Yours is not a hardware problem. The SATA versions are hardware problems. I do not know what the solution for you is. I am wondering if your ISP has moved away from the original port, and they are now using a different port for this. Have you checked with them to see if there has been a change? You had working before. This rules out firmware issues. You should be able to reset the setting to make it work. This is where I am thinking it is your ISP that has created all of the fuss!

If your DVR does not keep the date, and the time then you may need to replace the battery on the bottom of the main board. The battery is a MS621FE battery. Here are some various links on the battery. "Alarm Reset" pin doesn't work, AVC760 - Help
scorpion replied to Ingper's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The DVR motion detection circuit is working the recording. You need to use real motion detectors such as burglar alarm style, or optex outdoor style to trigger the recording. When you "come home" then the "on/off" switch powers the 12 volts to the motion detectors (or beam detectors). Now you have a simple way of starting, and ending your recording sessions. This will allow you to have some cameras recording all of the time if you need, and your inside cameras not to record. You could also install a door latch switch. When you open a dead bolt the switch detects the latch movement, and then this is tied in to a circuit to disable your recording. When you leave, and lock the deadbolt then you are automatically recording without having to hit any switch at all. I guess you could tie in to your burglar alarm system as well. When you hit "AWAY" it turns on your recording. What do you guys think? -
You have a strange situation indeed! I cannot think of what the issue is. Usually it is easier to log in with AVTech AP then the browser. You can connect with the browser so this tells me that you can make a connection via LAN. It is dumb of me to ask, but I would ask what IP address you have in your Video Viewer, and then I would ask are you local, or remote? Then I would ask what port do you have. Now you come back, and tell me what an idiot I am as you already told me port 80. If the DVR ip address matches the Video Viewer, and the Ports match between each other then the next step is the cross over cable, and changeing the settins on you computer to static in network connections > Local Area Connections > right click for properties and making the changes in internet protocal. The DVR does connect to the "internet" with the browser so this tells me that the circuitry inside the DVR is working, and the problem is the Vid View settings, or the router has not been port forwarded for 80. What have you found?

The fix is only for the Video Viewer Version which is the A series that uses the SATA HD. I have not heard back from the BETA testers, so I do not know much.
-
I agree with dvrtiger. I would not upgrade the DVR. There is the dividing line with the EIDE, and the SATA hard drives. The EIDE uses Video Server E, and it has JPEG to allow pictures to be emailed. The SATA uses Video Viewer, and it is only MPEG. The A, and the AS are of the SATA series You can learn what the different model numbers mean here: http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/cctv.aspx?Type=3&Type2=2 http://www.cpcam.com.tw/

SECUPOINTER-C08 Max Hard Drive Size?

It has been a while since I have worked on those DVRs, but I would agree with dvrtiger. http://scorpiontheater.com/secupointer.aspx -
Fair performing, low cost network DVRS?
scorpion replied to Chisel's topic in Digital Video Recorders
For budget is of the essence then I would recommend the AVTech DVRs. -
With a client list like that! Wow! I am jealous!
-
Where are you at in So Fl??
-
Do not select either of them. What you really need to do is think about how you are going to use them. Do you really want to spend double the money for H.264 when MPEG will do just fine on the cheap? If you have multiple stores, and you want to see various DVRs all at the same time then H.264 is the right choice, and cost is not a factor. What is right for you? Budget is of the essence, or bandwith over the internet is of the essence? Now! Which machine would you prefer?

Wanted: Small mom n pop CCTV shop, or Spy Shop that is for sale, or if you sale electronic devices, and gadgets. Please PM me with your info, or a lead that you may have. Distributors, please pass this request to you customers if you would be so kind. Prefer Florida, or at least south east continental USA. Thank you in advance.

If that is the case then do not romp in bed with the major movie actresses. You may find yourself as part of the their "next" marketing campaign!
