You can only access the video while the hard drive is in the DVR. This is for watermark protection. If it did not have watermark then it would not be acceptable in courts.

Camera video problems with 4 channels
scorpion replied to livan74's topic in Digital Video Recorders
For main monitor video out then you need to check U43, and U44 and R185. I do not have schematics. I hand traced them back in the day when I had more time in the office. -
Camera video problems with 4 channels
scorpion replied to livan74's topic in Digital Video Recorders
U6 is for 1-4CH, U16 is for 5-8CH, U25 is for 9-12CH, and U34 is for 13-16CH. Your troubles are with the following: U34 AV083 U36 SDRAM If they replaced U34 then you may need to replace U36. You may need to replace RP32 and RP32. What do all of the freak signals look like off of all the osc? -
Help Required to choose Security products
scorpion replied to roger_roger's topic in Digital Video Recorders
There are too many variables to answer your question. Are you working with bottom tier customers, or are you working with "security is of the essence" and your insurance policy needs to be protected from being sued for security failure? I would find a wholesale surveillance company that is near you in your state. When you place orders you can have them next day. In my case Eclipse CCTV is only 3 hours away from me. They have always treated me good, and I have no complaints. All of the other companies are in California (5 days to me) or in Texas (2 to 3 days to me). Higher end products may give you enough profit to ship it next day but that will eat in to profits. -
I know I am asking a dumb question. Is it set for master / slave?

repair or replace, and with what?
scorpion replied to Randymc61's topic in General Digital Discussion
Take your monitor to a repair TV repair shop (or Electronics repair shop). They can determine if it is repairable. Expect about $250 to $350 for the repair bill. These are no longer manufactured. You might buy one on EBAY, or Craig's List fairly cheap? -
Trying to troubleshoot the issue is confusing as the hard drive appears in disc management on your computer. You say you can access the the partition even though you cannot "read" it? Strange. We need to figure out what is wrong with the hard drive that is locking up the DVR. Perhaps a computer shop may have the same board that is on the hard drive. Swap out the board on the hard drive with another one and see if you can get to the video. Finding another hard drive board may be a pain though. You might have to buy a used hard drive and then swap boards. Did you record video, and playback video with the other hard drive that you installed in the DVR?

Have you pulled the power cord and let it rest for about 5 minutes, and then replugged it back in to see if it "resets" itself? You can try a hardware reset http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx If it is showing MPEG4 then the power supply is working ok. I wonder if the hard drive is having a problem? Normally the DVR would boot up to live video with a bad hard drive and not record. In this case there may be a power issue to the hard drive. Disconnect the hard drive, and see if the DVR boots up to live video. What have you found?

DVR to LCD monitor wireless transmittion
scorpion replied to advanet123's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I agree with the ground loop issue between the DVR location and the guard shack. Using the VDR will break the loop and this is why it will work. -
Hello! It is difficult for us to determine your needs. You may want to take some local college electronics courses. This is some of the equipment that we use: microphone http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-MIC_microphone.html Built in Microphone http://www.icrealtime.com/solutions/cameras.asp?cameraid=ICR150 Stand alone system http://www.louroe.com/kits.asp?model=ask4kit101 Cheap budget non quality mic mixer to line level. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102920 Please learn the correct type wire to use! Did you know that microphones can get you arrested? http://www.rcfp.org/taping/ What are your laws for your area? DO NOT BUY USED WIRELESS MICROPHONES! There has been a change with the FCC and a whole class of wireless microphones can no longer be used. You will find these on fire sales, or as is and no return. You will need to seek professional help to install the mics. Watch out for a/c ducts as they have air flow, and the mics may pick up the sound if too close. Some light sources will put hum in to your mic circuit. You should do a mock up of the mic locations to test them before you do permant wire runs.

Connection error AVTECH AVC 760 ZAS
scorpion replied to Hundidiot's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hello. You cannot put the hard drive in to the computer. you may even ruin the video that is on the hard drive. I would record the video to a VCR, or a DVD recorder connected to the monitor out. This will get you the video, and then you can resolve the password issue. http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx -
No. It means that you have to take your poodle through Police Canine training so that it is certified as a Guard! If your dog carries a weapon then it has to have a class G license. http://completesecurity1.com/

Software to Post Process MPEG4 (h264) for motion detection?
scorpion replied to todd2's topic in General Digital Discussion
No. The video files are not continuous pictures like JPEG. You might be able to do this capturing every 5th one, or so as that would give you a "picture" rather then parts of a picture. You would have to buy SDK for Java, and perhaps other software, and you would need a JAVA decompiler. The rest is above my paygrade. -
I never worked with the DVR040, but I would have thought it would have been a Sata drive. Check the voltages on the power input to the hard drive. It may not be getting the 12 volts. There is a relay on other models, and I am thinking that this may have the same circuit. If the relay, or the control to the relay does not energize the hard drive then it would appear as a dead hard drive. Connect power to the hard drive and see if it comes alive. ________________________________________________________ For those who wish to become techs then get this tool. http://www.manhattan-products.com/en-US/products/6706-hi-speed-usb-2-0-to-sata-ide-adapter This is a great tool for computer use, and DVR hard drive use. It has Sata, IDE, and laptop IDE connectors. This kit also has an IDE power connector. Plug in the 12 volt brick power supply to the DVR hard drive, and you can test for power issues!

XP was a clean install? I am thinking you may have some kind of winsock issue? If it was not a clean install then i would look at system 32 drivers to see if you have a host issue.

Can you recommend a CCTV store in california?
scorpion replied to omer78's topic in General Digital Discussion
I will second that one! -
It would be better to go work for a company, and see the real life issues rather than book learning. If you own a business then hire a fully trained tech, and shadow him.

Hard do say, but I am thinking that you may have to go in to internet options security tab, and change the unsigned active x certificates to "prompt". Does that help?
-
That is really hard to say! Dumb question which I know you have all ready done: Can you ping the DVR? Have you allowed for unsigned active x to "prompt"? Is this PC set to a static IP, or does it pull an IP address from DHCP?

AVTECH mpeg4 Scanning disk please wait error?
scorpion replied to Marts's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thank you tomcctv for the recommendation! It is greatly appreciated! This is only a guess, but I believe the hard drive is one that came from a PC, or was removed, and then installed in to a pc, and then reinstalled back in the DVR. These DVRs need to have a hard drive that is straight out of the packaging. Another situation is that the hard drive has some bad sectors, and needs to be replaced. Do you have a computer friend that can let you borrow a new hard drive for testing? What do you think? -
H.264 AVTech DVRs have a free CMS software with the their standalone DVRs. Any Questions?

internal battery to be replaced by ordinary button cell

Hard to say without seeing the product. Perhaps it had a smaller amperage? The charging circuit may be at fault? -
