I have never set up FTP, so I truely do not know. It has not messed up in three days? I wonder if it could have been the FTP situation as well. Interesting! -

I am not familiar with this icon as I do not use. When I get a chance I will have to log in to one, and test it, but it won't be for a few days. -
RESET DEFAULT Option In Advance/System Menu Question.
scorpion replied to norstar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I use static IP, and I really do not have a lot of experience with DNS setup. Most of the clients set the DNS up themselves, and usually they are doing it in the router. I wish I could help you better on this one. I have no clue why it disappears as you describe. -
RESET DEFAULT Option In Advance/System Menu Question.

You have me competely stumped! I do not know why you are having problems. I was hopeing that the description I gave would allow you to work through this problem. I hate logging out of Video Viewer as it takes so long for it to load. I love the Video viewer because of the built in CMS. Are you deleting the admin admin account right away, or do you keep the admin admin account while you test the new account? I prefer to hit icon to create a new account put in your 192 address, and put in the user name, password, and give it some kind of title. I double click on this line, and it opens the DVR a second time, and if it works then I am good, and then I go in and erase the admin admin account. If you are having problems creating the new account then I have no clue what is going on. You may have to get someone local to you to take a look at it. It sounds like Video Viewer is working, and I am thinking that there is no corrupt files other wise Video Viewer would not work at all. -

Call your ISP internet help desk. Ask them for the service where they watch your internet connection, and it provides a "recording" of your connection. The next day they can tell you if you have a connection problem, or you have not drop outs. If you have dropouts then it most likely will be from the street connection to the house/business. This is usually the oldest wire, and the weakest link. Have them come out an do a thorough system check. If there are no dropouts then this points to your computer, or the DVR, or your router. What do you think? -
I am sorry! The 99 cents was a just a joke! I meant 99 thousand dollars! Yes, that is what I really meant! Take care!

RESET DEFAULT Option In Advance/System Menu Question.
scorpion replied to norstar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hello! I am completely lost as to why you are having these issues. I need to stick to one problem at a time. Talking about Video Viewer, and talking about Browser are two separate items. EDIT: I think you are using a cut and paste rather the IP address. Would this be part of your problem? Now I am confused as to which of the two you are performing changes in. Using the browser to make changes is like using a chisel, and a stone, and Using Video Viewer to make changes is like using email. You cannot make any "internet" changes using the browser. The lock I am going to assume is going to be the number that you enter in to the front panel, or the number that you installed. You can make 5 admin usernames each with a different password, and with different user levels. Perhaps I should have you describe step by step what you are doing in sequence. This may give me the clue that is creating the havoc. I notice that you are typing admin with a capitol A as in Admin. I know you know that the DVR is case sensitive. I just had to ask in case this may be your issue. You might be setting up admin, but the DVR is looking for Admin. (??) You are logged in to your admin admin account when you are setting up other accounts. You can then test the new user name, and passwords. If they work then you are good to go. If they do not work you still have the admin admin account to get back in. When the new ones work then you can go back in under you new password, and delete the admin admin account. Just hitting the X on the upper right hand corner of the browser should log you out, and close the remote viewing. It sounds like you did a cut, and paste while logged in to the DVR, and you are using that instead of the IPaddress, or IP address and :portnumber. You are forcing your computer past the log in, and the computer remembers you with cookies. I do not use the browser so I truely do not know. If I were to guess it would be the panel lock. Are you using the default 0000 to get in to the menu, or have you changed this number in the MENU password change? This would be what you would log in to (I believe) when you activate the panel lock. This is to keep people from pressing buttons on the panel such as rogue employees, and such. Using the browser means you are pressing the buttons on the front panel remotely. This will take forever as you have internet delays while you wait for the DVR to respond, and the video is delayed for you to see the reaction. I truely do not know why you have this problem. Do not click the off icon. This would be my guess. What are you looking at to confirm your DDNS settings? -

RESET DEFAULT Option In Advance/System Menu Question.
scorpion replied to norstar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am sorry to hear that you are having troubles. You may need to take your machine back to the dealer based on what you are describing. admin admin is the default for remote view. Once you are logged in to the DVR then you would click on the MISCELLANEOUS CONTROL PANEL. This is the one that is second from the left. When the window appears you would then click on SERVER SETTING. This is located in the bottom left hand side. When the Server Setting window opens then click + on the GENERAL TAB, and then on the ACCOUNT TAB. Click NEW, and enter the info requested user name password user level (select supervisor for you, and normal user for other) life time. If it takes time to open your Video Viewer then make a new account with the ip address, and put the new user / password , and open this account as if it were a different DVR. Once you have confirmed that the user / password works, and that you can control server setting ect then you can log out of the original admin admin account with out having to close, and reopen Video Viewer. I always put in a secondary account just in case. You may forget the primary, and you have the secondary to fall back on. There may also be a time where you may have someone log in to your DVR. You can use the back up account without having to release your primary password. Later you can go back and delete the back up account to prevent them from coming back, and viewing your cameras, and creating another backup account. Let me know if this works. ___________________________________________________________ The soft reset, and the hard reset, are completely different things, but they perform close to the same functions. If you ever do a firmware update, and run in to problems then do not do a hardware reset (or a software reset). A hardware reset will not erase video footage. I have never ran in to this problem. I do not have any advice. I have been able to set up new accounts, test them, and then been able to remove default accounts. The only errors I make left me unable to activate server control due to wrong user level, or timing out because of lifetime settings. -
I have heard of troubles with some Nokia phones. I do not have a list of which ones work, and which ones do not. http://scorpiontheater.com/pda.aspx If you are buying the phone then go their store, and use one of the demo phones, and down load Eagle Eyes New, and try to connect to your DVR. If that does not work then try the GPRS/3G. The phone has to be JAVA enabled phone.

The AVTech 480 FPS 16 channel DVRs can do duel record. The DVR can record on to 1.5TB of hard drive, and you can set up a computer to remote view, and record the video. You can stack more hard drives for as much recording time as you need. The remote view computer cannot be a multi tasked computer, unless you break away from the bargain bin cheap entry level computers. You are limited to any down time of the internet. If the internet goes down on either end then it will not record, and you will only have the local recording to fall back on. Is your DVR connected to a UPS with good line filtration, and will your remote computer also be connected to a UPS with line filtration? If you have a higher "threat" level then you may need to install generator backup at both ends, or solar cell / batteries / inverter systems.

I am not quite sure what problem you have. I was under the impression that you could not connect to the DVR, but you are remote viewing the DVR. If you want to reset the DVR then you can just go in to MENU > ADVANCED > NETWORK, and you can reset the IP address so that you can log in to the DVR via the internet. If you still want to reset the DVR send me a 99 cents, and go here: http://scorpiontheater.com/reset.aspx

I sell a few of these in my shop, and I have never heard of any issues back except the vista issue. Thanks for the heads up with your issue. I will follow along to see if you come up with a resolution, and I will pass it along to the next person with the same issue. With the silence on returns in my shop then that speaks volumes. I am surprised that you are having problems. SOUNDY, It sounds like I need to hire you! Wow! Now that is PC knowledge!

For corporate security: Step one: low level: password protect cellphones, laptops, lock cars, learn defensive driving tactics, and take karate/judo/kung fu classes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jun_Fan_Gung_Fu This is the "father" of today's mixed martial arts, and the forefather of todays UFC cage fighting. This would be a good one to learn as it is most flexible to challenge "street fighting", or because you repect Bruce Lee's style of fighting. HIGH LEVEL THREAT: This is not for the "I might be kidnapped" this is for the "when I get kidnapped" protection. Install special software in to the PDA's, and Laptops. You can track criminals when they use these devices. With the cellphone you can get word by word transactions of a criminal's email, or instant messages. With the email account you can track the user. If the criminal was smart then they would have set up their email account with anonymous names ect. NEWS FLASH! Criminal caught be Twitter! With the laptop the moment someone opens it, and turns it on you get an automatic picture from the built in webcam. The laptop will "call home" sending you IP address, and other usable information for tracking. What do you think?

The package that I was describing was more for ATTF Auto Theft Task Force sting investigations, or Narcotics investigations. For PI work then I would recommend a completely different package. It would be alot more affordable. It depends on what he specializes in. Some PI only work with insurance companies, and others work for Marital situations, and others work for Lawyers. Depending on his case load, then I would set him up with something that can be flexable, and change, and adapt as different cases come up. If he always did high end work then you can use the package that I describe. Most PI do not need live streaming video. They can track vehicles with battery operated GPS devices, and create "geo fences". Geo fences can be to notify you that someone has entered a zone such as an exhusband who violates a 500 foot restraining order, or you can set up a geo fence in a known drug neighborhood to see if your target is going back in the area. I would have to know what kind of work he does, and what his budget is.

Do you need video only, or do you need a package that gives you remote notification, of driver's door/brake pedal with remote lock, and remote kill switch, and remote video?

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE THE VIDEO VIEWER VERSION 4 CHANNEL DVR THAT HAS THE FTP ISSUE. Please PM me for a possible resolution.

The speed bump camera MSRP is $1,700.00 US. You will need to check with your dealer for their pricing. You will have to check with a Geo Vision Dealer near you for priceing.

I was wondering about that when I saw your post on another thread. It seams like Jan since I last saw you! 50 cams? I wish I was your dealer! Wow! I project like that a month, and you could kick back, and relax! Glad to see you back! Take care!

AVTech AVC760 Date Time Reset Problem & Battery Replacem
scorpion replied to sgsecure's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It is not hard to miss! If it has a warranty then take it back to where you bought it from. If the warranty has passed then remove the warranty tape, and the board screws, and I think it is on the bottom. -
OK! Now I have seen it all! There is a yellow page for twitter called TWELLOW! At least now I know I can be found now! There is a thing called twit ad. If you sign up with them they place advertisments on your twitter, and they pay you money. Hmmm. I will have to check this out!
