finding reliable, knowledgable dealers/install in Orlando FL
scorpion replied to aleicgrant's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am based out of Melbourne Florida. I do not know about the companies in Orlando, but I am surprised that you are having that much of a hard time finding a company in Orlando. http://www.google.com/search?q=video+surveillance+companies+in+orlando+florida&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1&rlz= For those of you reading this post that came here from a search engine then I can tell you this: There are customers out there that are looking for entry level pricing, and this is where a lot of problems begin. Some companies will do it cheap, and then 8 months down the road when you have a warranty issue, or you need tech support then you find out that they have gone out of business. Some companies will charge more than you are willing to pay, and this takes them off of your "shopping" list. There are alot of "people"/businesses that will install cctv systems, but they have no technical experience. They may have been an electrician, or a lock smith, or they build computers, and now they are trying to install cameras to make a buck. If you are needing our services, then we would be more than glad to serve you. We travel all over the state of Florida. You can call a manufacture of a particular device, and they may be able to recommend a dealer in your area. If you call ICRealtime you may find that we are recommended to you for example. This does not guaranty that a company is knowledgeable, or that they are competant, but it sure gets rid of a lot of those companies that are ordering "kits" off the internet, and the internet company that provides the stuff probably does not have a tech support "division" as they are only box pushers. Now you have the distributor that has no tech support, and an installer/dealer that has no in house tech support. Call Eclipsecctv, or CCTV outlet, and they will recommend you a company. You may even find us recommended to you. Our company has an excellant repoire with these companies, and we work back, and forth their respective tech support personal. As for technical know it all we CCTV companies can get "caught" with our pants down just like anyone else. Sometime a short run of products may end up with a bad part, and we suffer the brunt of heat from the public while we research the problem, and then work on getting a replacement product, or it could be that the products change every so often, and new technology is introduced, and we have to stop, and get caught up to date. If some company says that they know it all, then I would tell you to be wary. If we ever go out on a service call, and the customer owned DVR is a brand that we have not seen, or worked with then the first thing we will ask for is the manual, or we will try to download it from the internet, and read it. It always appears that the problem is some box that did not get checked during the setup, and we can figure it out in 5 seconds after reading the manual. The tick box may be on a menu page not normally associated with that part of the setup. I hear you loud and clear. I can show you phone books from 2 years ago with a list of CCTV companies, and now they are gone! Wow! That is a shame! All of those customer that turned me down in the past because I may have been just a few dollars more than they were willing to spend are now out on a limb. I try to help these people the best that I can. If the distribution chain that provided the DVR cannot help them, then I cannot help them, unless it something that I can fix such as swapping hard drives, or doing a hardware reset on the DVR. With cameras it could be the power supply, or the wire to the camera, or it could be the coax back from the camera. Those I can fix, but the camera I cannot. There are alot of internet companies that only provide a 3 month warranty on the product even though the manufacture probably had a one year warranty, but what kind of company do you call in China?? YIKES! Thank you for doing your homework! I am really proud that you have placed this much care in to your installation!! Take care -
When it comes to your construction technique, and you cannot run wiring then there is an A/B switch that you can put at the head end of your Sat distribution. You can modulate each camera to a TV channel, or you can take the monitor out with the quad screen and modulate this signal. This will allow you to see your cameras. The problem is if you have high def then putting these signals together may actually create more problems. If this is the case then the A/B switch will allow you to switch from the Sat signal to the modulated signal. The signal to switch back and forth is sent up the coax to the A/B switch. remote veiwing of cameras using dvr system
scorpion replied to rabbitrob789's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Yes they will have to get the internet account set up. If they plan on using a computer for business, and the DVR, then they will have to buy a router also. Cable internet may be a better option, but that would depend on your area, and I will leave it up to you to find out what is best for your area. If they are doing fiber optic then go with that company which is probably a telephone company. For those of you out there reading this you can also get a special router. It uses an air card from one of the cell phone providers. This might be a good way for a more rural area that has cell phone, but they may not have cable, or telephone internet. -

I thought maybe there was a new system that was out on the market that had an entry level price tag that I was not aware of. Thanks for the info! -
I appreciate the info. The DVR is coming up with disk error every so often. I wanted to replace the hard drive before it crashes all at once. Thank you very much!

Anyone replaced the Sanyo 3009 DVR hard drive? It looks like I am going to be changing one, and I wanted to see if there were any issues such as software having to be loaded onto the hard drive before you can use it, or any other warnings. Thanks!

I do not know what equipment you did the hardware reset on. I will assume that you did a hardware reset on the router. Am I right? If yes. Go to the menu of the DVR for networking, and see what port number it is using. (If it is using port 80 then lets change it to 75). What is the ip address of the DVR? 192.168.0.25 ?? What ever number you have write that down. Go to the computer where you can see the video on the local lan. Do an ipconfig, and write down those numbers. The gateway is the local lan address to get "inside" of your router. Go to 192.168.0.1 (or what ever your number is). You need to look for port forward, or gaming, and applications. You need to put in the DVRs lan address, and the port number it is using. I know you know how to do all of this, but I wrote it in detail for those reading this post that do not know how. Now test the remote video with your laptop with an air card, or go somewhere else, and log in. Does it work?? If not let me know. If it does let me know! remote veiwing of cameras using dvr system
scorpion replied to rabbitrob789's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It depends on a lot of things first of all. I would imagine this company would have a modem, and they probably have this plugged in to a router. You would run a cat 5 wire from the DVR to the router. You would go to a computer, and you would do an ipconfig (google it), and you would right down all the info on to a piece of paper. You would then go to www.ipchicken.com and get the internet address of this business. The DVR uses some kind of port number. It will be in a default number, and you can change it if you want. Sometimes it is better to get it off of the default number of 80. You then need to go to the gateway address that you got from the ipconfig such as 192.168.1.1 The gateway will take you to the "inside" of the router. From here you can select pages for portforward, or it might be marked as gaming, and applications. You need to tell it what ip address you gavet the DVR, and what port it will be using. The router will allow someone to remote view in once you have "opened" the port number. The ip chicken will give you the ip address. You would use your own laptop computer with an air card to test your setup. Go to that number and you should connect to the DVR. You might have to set up an active X on the computer. Once you can see video on the local computer then you are good. Once you can see video remotely then you are good. DHCP ip address can change without warning. The number that you are using will not work one day. You will have to go to that business, and do another ipchicken to see what the new ip address is. To avoid changing numbers you can use a service called www.dyndns.org You will set up an account there, and you will log in there to see your video. They will help you keep track of changing numbers. Another way is to get a static ip which means it never changes. In a residence they will have to upgrade to commercial, or business class. Some people do not want to pay an extra $40.00 month for a static ip so the dns service may be the best option for them. Businesses all ready have a commercial account. It may be as simple of calling the IP provider, and asking for static IP address. This can get complicated in setting up the modem. You will need to research how to do this. http://scorpiontheater.com/videonetworkingwithavtech.aspx http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/AVTech_Guide_Networking_AVC7XX_Linksys_Info_2A_Line2.pdf Give these links time to load (wait). http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/AVTech_Guide_Networking_Setup_Linksys.pdf http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/AVTech_Guide_Networking_Setup_Dlink.pdf http://www.portforward.com/ http://raymondpau.blogspot.com/2008/03/configuring-internet-explorer-7-to.html http://scorpiontheater.com/att.aspx http://www.broadbandreports.com/faq/14024 OK! any info or suggestions on viewing avc760 dvr on a cellphone

Try to put the software on to the phone before you buy it. If it works then it is a deal. Why buy a phone that will not work? -
It has been a pleasure. I just wish that I could be of more help!

Captain001 Video Viewer S came out first. When they came out with a new series of DVR models then they came out with Video Server E. Recently they came out with a newer set of DVRs which we call the A models. The older DVRs used JPEG over the internet, and the A series uses MPEG over the internet. You can use Video Viewer to view older model DVRs that use Video Server E. You cannot use Video Server E to connect to newer model DVRs. DaveM I have not seen this manual for PDA. Thanks for the Link!!! I will be posting that on my website for others! -

Captain001, Does your DVR use Video Server E, or does it use Video Viewer? AVC 760 = Video Server E AVC 760A = Video Viewer DaveM I wanted to ask the same question. I am trying to keep track of which phones work with which DVRs, and which software such as eagle eyes, or GPRS/3G ect. AVC 760 should work with most phones. AVC 760A is the one that is giving me the most troubles. -

If you have it set for motion detection perhaps the DVR is to busy looking for motion detection, and it is recording. This is common with a lot of outdoor cameras that are pointed at the road where there is a lot of traffic. First press the stop button, then press the menu button. You may have to time it fast. Check your manual for keylock also. http://scorpiontheater.com/cpcamtechsupport.aspx

I sorry. I do not know what you meant by lilin pdr2160ss.

Do not chuck it yet! I would have you take it to a computer shop, and ask them to look at the power supply voltages. If it is the problem with the external power supply then this is easly replaced. If the problem is on the inside power supply on the PC board then the fix is the willingness of someone to look at it, and to replace the bad parts. Electronic repair places are getting harder, and harder to find. If they charge too much then it may be better to get a new device. I would tell you that you would be better off buying a new device (AVC 760A) for several reasons. 1 better video quality while recording 2 Internet connection for remote viewing 3 Video Viewer has more features then Video Server S 4 lots of features with Video Viewer Perhaps a used one if economics is of the essence. If all else fails, and you chuck it for garbage, then I would like to be the receive the dead DVR for spare parts. What do you think? Spy Source Warehouse 1924 S.
