AVC761 - starts recording as soon as I switch on
scorpion replied to podgeandrodge's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I downloaded the J2ME newer version http://211.22.74.18/ and loaded it in to a Sprint Fusion made by LG. I connected to one of the first A version DVR that came in, and I had no luck. On my screen I get Sys.Login... and it just sits there forever. I connected to one of the recent purchased A version DVRs, and I got a get an error screen as well! At first it says Sys.Login... Login OK then the error message comes up se Error on: DVR.Device.CH1 I waited the two minutes, and nothing appears to happen. Rats! I logged in a few times, and that did not help either. -
I am not familiar with this problem. To do some troubleshooting first I would ask what kind of machine is it? If you open it up it will have a model number on the PC board. The reason that I ask is that is could be a 761M, or a 761A. The M stands for mainboard, and this version used Video Server E. The newer model in the A series uses Video Viewer instead of Video Server E. I was wondering if we could use the opposite viewer, and try to see if this allows the video to play. Do you have the Player only, or do you have the whole program that goes with the DVR? The other guessing part is to see if the file itself is "too fast", and the player is just playing what is "sees", or is it that the file is "fine", but the player is causing the hiccup?

Need Help 4Ch MPEG-4 NDVR, Remote View Help
scorpion replied to F1X3R's topic in Digital Video Recorders
There is no other software. Each DVR manufacture makes the software only for that machine. As for AVTech DVRs they have 4, 8, 16, channel DVRs, and Various models, and then on top of that they OEM to other companies who put their company name on it so there are alot of machines that use the same software in the arena. I would assume that if you used some "other" software that you would still have the same issue with security. If it blocks the one that you are using then it is going to block the next one that you use, and you are still in the same boat. Does that make any sense? I do not know if you are speaking of windows firewall, or a software firewall that has been installed, or if you are talking about one of the Security Suites such as Mcafee, or Symantec, ect. Is there a "computer" person who can find the blocking offender for you? This software that you are using would load on to a computer with no problems that was just bought off the shelf. Someone had to set up all of the security on your computer. You said that the certificate had "Windows Terminated Program, Cannot varify Publisher" , but you ran the program anyways. Then is should work, and I do not know what security problem you are getting. If the windows firewall is the issue then try this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283673 and scroll down the page. What do you think? -

I am not familiar with your DVR. It sounds as if Active X is your issue. Micros Soft Windows uses Active X, and so does this DVR. Other browser that do not have Active X such as Apple will suffer for not being able to connect to the DVR. I am surprised that you could not get it working once you downloaded the "exClient_v200.ax.cab" You might have to refresh the page, or open a new browser to connect to the DVR. One thing to check is what port the DVR uses. I did not know if you opened this port on your router, or not? I would assume that you are using the internal LAN address, and outside of the building you are using the WAN address. http://scorpiontheater.com/videonetworkingwithavtech.aspx -

Fishing is a good one! I'll do a series when I get the chance. 16/2 was a typo! Thanks! I have thought about doing a webcam "TV show". If you ever seen "This old house", or "Ship Shape" then what would you think of an online CCTV how to? I would imagine it would only be of interest to the DIY trying their first install, but I could not imagine the die hard watching unless I used "insider jokes", or it was more based on "American Chopper". Get to work, or I shove my size 91/2 up your ***. NO! Sorry! It just does not sound right in my shoe size! What do you guys think about video how tos, or Web TV show? -
I just might add my own PIR cam in the VIP room! http://eclipsecctv.com/ECL-CPIRD_hidden_camera.html These work great in those dark environments!

Using Blackberry bold to see avtech remote viewer ?
scorpion replied to asoy's topic in General Digital Discussion
I truley do not know, but I would say it is Java based. Another user posted that he had his Nokia N95 working with the A series DVR (Video Viewer). I do not have any details, but I want to learn more about this! -
The MIDI, and the Dolly is def out of my range of expertise. I would imagine that if you are a tinkerer that you can develop something with a pic microcomputer, or something that would handle the translation. I am not quite sure what it was that you wanted to control via MIDI interface? If I needed to dolly a camera the I would just use a wheelchair! LOL! Guerrilla Director Rodriques strikes again! http://www.amazon.com/Rebel-without-Crew-23-Year-Old-Filmmaker/product-reviews/0452271878

Log in to your DVR through the Video Viewer. Click on the second icon from the left which looks like pieces of paper on top of paper. This will open a window called misc control. Click the icon that looks like a gear on top of a DVR. This will open another window. Click on the + icon next to general. Now click on Account. Make a new account. You cannot erase the old one. You will have to relog in to your DVR using the new password. Once you can get in using your new password then you can erase the old one. I always make an extra password as a back up in case you forget your main one, or somehow yours ends up comprimised then you can erase that account, and set it up with a new password. Overwrite is under DVR > Record At the bottom of the screen you will see a "radio button" to check for overwrite. _____________________________________________________________ I am really glad to hear that your Nokia N95 works with the Eagle Eyes! I have not had the time to run down to the Sprint store since the A version came out. That is good news! Thank you for your input! I love it when I get to learn something new about the Avtech DVRs! take care, -
The only suggestion is to find a port that is open through the firewall, or to go to someone in the IT section, and offer a bribe! Donuts anyone? Can you bring a laptop, with an aircard to work?

If your DVR uses Video Server E then it is the phone itself. I went to a Sprint phone store that had many phones activated, and on display. I could not get the Black Berry, and other "high end" phones to work. The more simple the phone with web access the better my luck with the phone. I have had problems with the N95, and the Iphone also. If you DVR uses Video Viewer then you have the new A series, and to my knowledge non of the A series DVRs can be viewed via phone. AVTech does have a special 3G DVR built for remote cellphone usage though. http://211.22.74.18/ -
Can you VPN in to your personal computer where the DVR is located, and control the DVR with that computer over the local lan?
-
If you could track down an owner of one of these DVRs then I wonder if they could make a video, and post it on youtube, or send it to you. Have them identify the button they press as they aim at the camera. I wonder if you could teach a programmable remote from the video? Hmmm? I wonder if that would work? I guess you could test your TV remote with a VCR, and then play it back, and aim a monitor at your TV, and then see if it controls your TV. If that works then I guess you could do "remote programming".

Path of least resistance for you is to go up through the chain of how you bought it. Unless you bought it second hand. If so then can you contact the original seller to see where they bought it. Swann is definately not going to help you with a product that did not come through their chain. If it is that difficult to track down a remote then I would imagine you could track down an owner of one, and send them a programable remote, and have them teach the codes, and give you a sheet with what commands are what buttons on the programmable remote. I do not know if you could find a volunteer to do this or not.

If you place the hard drive in to a PC then how do you test it? Would you format it for the PC, then unformat it for the DVR?
-
This device is used where you cannot run another cable. If you can drop cable then you can use another video input to show the camera, or quad view. This device is great for preconstruction coax that has been run on exterior walls, or some custom house that has coax running through plant shelves, or other odd construction details preventing you from running coax. This is also the only solution if the modulator will kill the digital TV signal, and High Def signal.

Yes, you would go in to MENU You would turn off manual record. I find it odd that you would buy a DVR just to use it as a monitor? A camera connected directly to a TV would provide this function. You cannot power the DVR down from the front panel. This is to protect business owners from employees, otherwise the employees would turn off the DVR. It can only be turned off through the menu. Timer record would be a good way to activate it at a time frame, and to stop recording at a time frame. You could also start recording through the manual record. The fan is noisy. You could try replacing the fan with one more quite. Is it the sound of the "wind" blowing through, or do you have bearings that are making noise? A whiring noise is normal, and anything else might be a bad fan. You can pull the plug on the fan to quite the DVR, and it should not be to much of a problem if the DVR is in a cool zone. If it is 80 degrees, or more then you maybe puttin nails in to the coffin over time without the fan. I would recommend keeping the fan for the longevity of your DVR. You would be wasting your time connecting it to a DVD recorder. Is there somekind of privacy issue that prevents you from recording? I would tell you to put the DVR in to motion record, and to record all movement. When you have some event then you will have it on the DVR, and then you can transfer this recording to you DVD recorder to give to the person that you need to give it to. -
Do you have a spare hard drive? I would go and buy one to test the theory. I will guess on the hard drive being the problem. It may be a chip problem controlling the hard drive. Swapping the hard drive would be the only way to determine where the failure is.

Great advice about the long flexible drill bit! http://www.lsdinc.com/content/product_details/19 https://www.wirecare.com/land_ls61.asp http://www.telephoneparts.com/product/Tools/Drill+Bits I had no way of getting the bit out on the other side. I would have to cut open the soffit to get to the bit. The hole was far enough away from the stud that it would bend out of the soffit. The other problem was the electrical wiring that was there. I did not know if the wire was stapled to the stud, or not. I doubt it was, but I wanted others reading this post to think about it. That would have been a shocking experience! -
We cannot give you advise as we do not know how your company operates. I would tell you this. Find the person who gets alot of plaques, or bonuses, and appears to be the best seller. Do what he/she does! Do not feel bad as this is a bad economy, and there are a lot of customers who are not buying. You are going to get a lot of NO's! What is the best feature about your cameras, or your DVRs? Take this information, and let the product sell itself. Cheap pricing is a trigger to get people to buy. A great warranty, and a return policy will turn a lot of heads. I would have you contact people, and if they do not buy then get them to know your name, and be friendly, then come back, and make a sell later We wish you the best.
