I record video for customers remotely via the Video Viewer. The film reel icon will record to your computer in a temp video file. Would that be in option? The DVR no longer records with JPEG, and I guess they have not "cleaned" up all of the firmware lines to remove the now dead feature. I not being a computer expert is it possible to FTP with MPEG? The A series obviously does not.

I thought this was interesting!! This six million dollar man lives! http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5jmzOjp-NiS5b-H-B8CiUYWcpVXbg BRUSSELS — A one-eyed Canadian documentary filmmaker is preparing to work with a video camera concealed inside a prosthetic eye, hoping to secretly record people for a project commenting on the global spread of surveillance cameras. Torontonian Rob Spence's eye was damaged in a childhood shooting accident and it was removed three years ago. Now, he is in the final stages of developing a camera to turn the handicap into an advantage. A fan of the 1970s televsion series "The Six Million Dollar Man," Spence said he had an epiphany when looking at his cellphone camera and realizing something that small could fit into his empty eye socket. With the camera tucked inside a prosthetic eye, he hopes to be able to record the same things he sees with his working eye, his muscles moving the camera eye just like his real one. Spence said he plans to become a "human surveillance machine" to explore privacy issues and whether people are "sleepwalking into an Orwellian society." He said his subjects won't know he's filming until afterward but he will require their permission before including them in his film. His special equipment will consist of a camera, originally designed for colonoscopes, a battery and a wireless transmitter. It's a challenge to get everything to fit inside the prosthetic eye but Spence has had help from top engineers, including Steve Mann, who co-founded the wearable computers research group at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. The camera was provided by Santa Clara, Calif.-based OmniVision Inc., a company that specializes in the miniature cameras found in cellphones, laptops and endoscopes. Zafer Zamboglu, staff technical product manager at OmniVision, said he thinks success with the eye camera will accelerate research into using the technology to restore vision to blind people. "We believe there's a good future in the prosthetic eye," he said. The team expects to have the camera working in the next month. Spence, who jokingly calls himself "Eyeborg," said at a media conference in Brussels that the camera hidden in a prosthetic eye - the same pale hazel colour as his real one - would also let him capture more natural conversations than he would with a bulky regular camera. "As a documentary maker, you're trying to make a connection with a person," he said. "And the best way to make a connection is through eye contact." But Spence also acknowledged privacy concerns. "The closer I get to putting this camera eye in, the more freaked out people are about me," he said, adding people aren't sure they want to hang around someone who might be filming them at any time. If we put together a mini workshop, then what would be a good time frame? Summer? Do a vacation at the same time to kill two birds at once?
-
Not really. A regular camera, a lens, an enclosure, and mount, a pole, and some trenching, or sawing asphalt, trenching, installing conduit, and installing a speed bump is good enough for me. To make that effort worth while I would have to build in volume, and try to sell to others. I could plastic mold a speed bump for $50.00, but then I need 100 units. I just do not have that kind of time. My luck I would smash a $400.00 camera, and I would have to replace it out of pocket. I would rather let another company with big pockets worry about all of those details. That is an excellant idea for the DIY though!

I am sold on the ICRealtime Speed Bump Camera, and I am buying them now.

There are so many issues that you need to trouble shoot. You will need to describe more about the install. What kind of microphones do you have www dot microphone dot com ??? What kind of wiring are you using to transfer the audio from the mic to the DVR? What kind of power supply are you using on the Microphones. If you are using AC on a DC mike then this may be an issue You need to use a copper center conductor, and a copper shield coax to send audio. microphones need a preamplifier. I assume you have a "security level" microphone, and the preamplifier is allready built in. If the wiring that came with your microphone has a ground wire then it only needs to be connected at one end. This is sometimes referred as a "drain". If it is "grounded" at both ends then it can give you problems. The input of the DVR needs a one volt to one volt peak to peak line level signal. This is the same as the audio that would come out of the red, and white RCA audio equipment such as VCRs, and DVD players. I know you know what you are doing, but I put all this info for those who read this post that are not familiar with this info. What kind of a system do you have set up?

I have never seen snow in my cameras! LOL! If I do I think there is about 20 women who will knock on my door to collect on my "Yes, when it snows in Florida I will marry you"! You will have to forgive me, but I am going to keep praying that it never snows in Florida! LOL! Thanks for the heads up! We appreciate your time, and effort! -
It will cost you several thousands of dollars. Is the video worth this value?

AV760 - New Install With Front Panel Problem ?
scorpion replied to norstar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
If your DVR has the A after the model number it should be a SATA hard drive DVR. It is possible that the first release of the 760AM may have had IDE drives. I will be corrected the moment you open the DVR, and see what cable it has for the hard drive. _____________________________________________________________ 760 latest is V2030 760A latest is V1238 _____________________________________________________________ That page is under construction. With the down turn in the economy I no longer have the time to work on that page, and I do not have the funds to complete it. When the economy comes around, and I get some cash flow I will finish it. -
Try a shielded wire instead to protect the video signal.

If you have the anytime anywhere screen then I think you have the Video Viewer opened up. If it is not working then perhaps try Video Server E. The video that you downloaded from your USB device is this in a file on your desktop? Do the files look like a film strip?
-
Video Server E should have put it self in to program files. If it loaded ok then it should play your files from your usb device. I assume you formated the usb device? http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/AVTech_Manual_English_AVC_760_782_V1.7.pdf
-
What kind of DVR do you have? If you downloaded the Video Server E then it should have worked for you. If you have an A version then you would use the Video Viewer. Can you describe your problems in more detail?

CSI Las Vegas would be out with the trajectory sticks, and laser sight, and they would back track, and have you arrested before the first commercial. Crooks alway seem to get away with crime, and the good guys always get in trouble with the law! Why is that? -

I would have to be a real bastard. I would get a bunch of four, and five year old naked girls to play in a pool, or a slip, and slide, and call the police, and point out the cameras. I want to know why a pervert is pointing a camera at these girls! I am sure the cop will tell you that you need to put bathing suits on them, and you can give the "it was an impromtu swim" speech. I guaranty you that cop will really want to talk to your neighbor!! What do you think? Oh! Please ignore the other post that come along, and tell you to use a laser to damage the cameras. That will just bring you down to his level. Damaging property is one thing even if he is a jerk. Making him explain why he is vidoe taping naked young girls is another!!! I want to see the expression of the wife/girlfriend after the cop leaves!!! Make sure you get a copy of that police report! -

AV760 - New Install With Front Panel Problem ?
scorpion replied to norstar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am not sure of what you are describing. Out of the box you would press the menu button. It will ask for a password even though it is not password protected. Press the ENTER BUTTON 4 times (0000) this should get you in to the menu panel. There is a screen during boot up that shows the MPEG 4, but that should go away, and then you should see the quad screen. I was confused as you said you see the quad screen, and you said you see the MPEG 4 in the middle. ______________________________________________________ You cannot turn off the DVR with the power button. If you install it in a business then the employees can just push the off button, and rob you blind. You have to go in to the menu to shut down the DVR. You will change the pass code in order to lock out everyone from the default 0000. I am hoping that you reconnected the front panel cable correctly. I am concerned about the hard drive that you installed. An old hard drive from where? If it came out of a computer then you are going to have issues. The DVR uses hard drives straight out of the package without any formating. Refer to your DVR as a 760A. A series uses Video Viewer, and the non A series uses Video Server E. (Video Viewer is the latest version). -
I am not sure. Try the ALERT section of the menu. Alarm Duration (Sec) You should be able to move this up to where you want it. Let me know how it works.

I cannot help you as I do not know that much about those DVRs, but I have retained some links, here, and there. Perhaps you can find something. http://scorpiontheater.com/dm.aspx
