Cameras seem to chase off bad renters in a neighborhood that is a nice neighborhood, but because the property changes as the elderly die off, or move, and children (adult age children) tend to rent the house out to anyone as the house is old, and needs thousands, and thousands of dollars to get back up to mint condition. This is real common in our area of Florida. A neighborhood that was planned and built in the 80s, and now the community is full of retirees, and young familys, then all of a sudden you start seeing house for rent then all of a sudden one bad apple moves in and then the other good renters leave when the lease is up so that they do not have to deal with it and that leaves the home owners who have to deal with it everyday, and slowly the neighborhood goes down hill till the cops have to be called in because of the renters bad children, or the loud stereos that thump thump as they go by, and the trash, and god forbid if you get a drug dealer who leased there so that he "blends" in, but the traffic is the giveaway. Talk to your neighbors. If they know about it in advance they might be on board. The safer the neighborhood appears the more resistance you get. We have gated communities where an investor buys 2, 3, 4, or even more houses, and rents them out and get the section 8 benefits, and they have to rent to section 8 tenents!!!! This is a nice gated community people. Turn down the stereos, clean up your yard, pick up your trash, and reighn in your punk kids!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!! See! The well to do have their problems too! Talk to your neighbors. Plan it in a way where it becomes their "idea". You never know. If they are extremely against the cameras then hide them in bird houses, dog houses, fake water pump houses, planters, and so on. What do you think?

Give us a google maps sat view url so that we can see your house! To go outside of this post for others who are planning a system. If you want to see the whole property then you will need about 4 cameras facing straight out from the house. Line up the video shots so that the farthest right side camera has the video edge on the left side lines up with the next camera to the left so that you have a panorama per se. Do the same with the 3rd and 4th camera as well. Use 6mm lens to avoid distance distortion, and 60 feet of IR. _____________________________________________________________ Your cameras are perfect! If you were to tweak them a bit then here is what I would do..... Camera C I agree with 3RDIGLBL. This would be a great shot for a bank, or a dept store that wants a facial of a shop lifter. I would put the camera to the left of the door, facing to the right. I can see who trys to ring the door bell to see if we are home, and if no one answers then they go around back to break in. You can verify if packages were delivered. You can see if someone comes up to take said delivered package. You get a free shot of your car in the driveway. A wide angle lens will give you the whole view, but because of distance distortion you will not get facial recognition if anyone tampers with the car/cars. Now you can use a camera real close to the driver's side door as you can get for the facial shot! Camera D This is a bad shot. In winter when it gets dark earlier then you will get the head lights right in to the camera. Imagine every lost person who just happens to turn around in your driveway. Imagine the person who pulls up, and throws rocks/eggs/molotov and you have the headlights in the camera. This needs to be more of a side shot. If you change this to a 12mm or higher then you can use this as a secondary camera and aim it at the drivers door. This needs to be moved closer. If the camera is a 60 foot IR throw then it is only effective at the 20 to 30 feet distance. Measure from the camera mount (to include camera height) to the area that you want to watch in the video. Double this distance for your IR distance. A cheap IR camera that has a 30 foot throw will be effective at 15 feet. Just the right distance with someone in your yard. How far is the back bumper of your car compared to the camera mount area? If the 60 foot IR is way too close then you will over illuminate the subject and not get a good video shot. (Photographers do this to hide pimple pocks, wrinkles, and other facial blemishes by over using the flash) Camera B This is good as long it is planned for this position. How far is the camera IR throw? It is only effective at have of this distance. How far from the camera do you plan to look out in to the yard? A wide angle lens would tell you the whole story! Neighbor comes from their property onto your property, and performs some deed that you do not like. This would verify where they came from and what they did. You will not get a facial shot unless they are 5 to 10 feet with a 3.8mm or a 4.mm lens. If you are going all the way to the gutter (the center line from the camera) then what is this distance? Double it for your IR distance. You will need to match the lens to the distance. A 4mm and a 6mm is not going to work. A facial shot will require a higher mm number. I would use two cameras. One with the wide angle for full view, and the other for telephoto to get up in to the shot. Camera A This is good for a wide angle lens with wide throw IR with the distance to match the area to be watched. Camera E This appears to watch the windows and perhaps a back door. Close up lens for facial is recommended here. PTZ would be recommend from a sales person hat that I am wearing to make an extra buck. The reality would be that I would only suggest it because of a high threat level. 1. You live in a very exclusive neighborhood. 2. You have a million dollars cash under your mattress (what is your address again)? 3. You have multiple low level threats. (you live in the hood). I like a PTZ to be a vari focal camera. Everytime you have a new threat you can orient the camera in the direction needed, and then you can zoom in, or out to match the threat. You just started a new business, and you are waiting for your new checks, and your bank card (credit/debit) to come in the mail. You can orient the camera to the mail box, and zoom in. When the threat is over then you can reorient the camera back to it's original position. It is halloween and you are concerned about ???. Re orient the PTZ to match that threat. A car has been spotted doing something that they should not be doing. You can orient the camera to catch a license plate going down the road. Your neighbor went on vacation and asked you to watch their house across the street. A dog keeps pooping in your yard and you want to know which neighbor's dog it is. You landscaper keeps stealing your plants (and resells them to other clients). See how it meets multiple threats? Now you can match a new threat that you never thought of down the road. News flash there is a peeping tom on the loose. Point it at a window to give you security. How did I do? What do you think?

I did not let it roll off my shoulders!! I bought the company webdomain from the guy who owned it and did the IT work, and then I sold it to a chinese company who parked it for the ads. I also gained the ficticious name rights because they never renewed it. I can hardly wait until they forget to pay the phone bill, and I can buy that too. Piece by small piece I exact my small revenge to include working to help others open a business that competes with them. The noose gets tighter on them, and I never forget. I found out that sales have dropped 50% since I left them. Ouch! -
I am more interested as a tinkerer then having a tool in the bag to help a customer. For the Value of AVC 760, or an AVC 760AS then there is not motive to get a person to buy a computer assuming that they had one, or buying a developed software to install on a computer. I just do not see people jumping on that bandwagon. With that being said I will look like a liar as about 50 are going to post a question where this post is going to be the answer. Now lets roll up our sleeves and have some "techie" fun. Are you computer programmer? You must know C++ like the back of your hand!

Go here and download GPRS/3G http://211.22.74.18/ On your cellphone go to this address dsshost.dyndns.org 4040 port admin user admin password Did it work for you? -
Other than trying the different versions here then I do not know what to tell you. http://211.22.74.18/ If the above AVTech address is down then there is a mirror here: http://www.lakson.com.sg/cpcam/ Are you using GPRS/3G or are you using Eagle Eyes? Do you input an IP address, or do you use a dyndns.com kind of product address? The fact that you are getting to the DVR is a good sign! That is the hard part! Now I wish we could solve the rest of it! I wonder if it may be more of a problem with the phone ISP?
-
I hear you on the AVTech support. The problem is that AVTech is a manufacture and the distributors are supposed to supply the tech support, and a lot of distributors do not, and that is wrong. For example: If your american made car breaks down you do not call detroit and ask them to help you with a problem. You actually go to a dealer who provides the tech support. You can also call an indendent shop but they are not going to fix it for free. AVTech is the manufacture, and Joe's CCTV, and bar and grill is the techsupport center. If local Joe does not do tech support then he can call his regional distributor who can look at the DVR fix it, or replace it with a new one. This is how it is supposed to work. I am lucky to have a distributor who has tech support staff on hand, and can resolve 90% of my issues. The other 10% is solved by my wife. She folds up her arms, and then she blinks her eyes twice, and poof! Problem solved!

Us installers due tend to vent from time to time. You will find posts about the "customer from hell", or the "install where everything goes wrong", or the employee who is so stupid: how stupid is he"! My favorite posts are the people who say that crimp on is the way to go, and then there are those who say that twist on is the way to go! Hey compression is the best, and it is better then anything else! If you use compression then you are low life, slime bag, whale poop idiot of an installer! Hey you guys: I buy twiston connectors and then I crimp then to the RG59! Hey! I buy crimp on, and then I twist them on to the RG59, and then I can swing from a tree, and they do not fall off. Hey I bought these crimp on for 25Cents!! Oh crud! I had to go back and replace every connector because the video kept going out. Hey forget all of you! I solder to my RG59 then I wrap electrical tape around it, and then I solder the braid then I wrap that with metal foil tape, and then I heat shrink it, and then I wrap it with electrical tape, and then I dip it in to a can of plastikote! I just twist the center conductors together then wrap with tape, and then I twist the braids together, and add more tape! I have not lost video on any install that I have done in 20 years. Hey I bought this funky connector tool on ebay. Anyone ever use it? Boy it can sure get fun around here!!!! LOL! -

I would suggest editing this out. What do you think? -
I have never used the 732 and I do not think that I can help you with your problem. I would like to figure out what the problem may be. You have two devices (ok three, but two are alike). The PTZ works with the 732E, but not with the 732S. 732E is Video Server E 732S is Video Server S How am I doing so far? Do you have both Video Server E and Video Server S?? Do you need to download Video Server S? This PTZ. Is this the one and the same PTZ that is being connected to the different devices? Is this two different PTZ, but there are both the same model number? Is the two completely different model numbers? Sorry. I am just trying to get up to speed. I do not know for sure, but it may be the 732S may only take the AVTech PTZ only, and not other brands, but then I do not know for sure. Do you have a manual for these?

TMJALARMSNATE You have my sympathy! I too have been in your shoes. I never did get resolution in my case. I did become wiser, and more careful. What you describe happens more then you care to know. I have even see it with my own eyes. You have now become more wiser for your troubles. You will never get resolution, and I would say to let it bounce off your shoulders, and take it as a lesson learned. Please do not let this "get" to you. I know you are angry! I know you are ready to explode! What you want to know is this " why in this day, and age, that someone can get away with this crud"!!! If you or I did this, then why would some attorney general come down on us, and give us legal action, yet these morons get away scot free! What is going on!! What you need to do is find a place and do a primal scream! (Restaurant employees, and managers can go in to a walk in refridgerator)! They are probably having financial problems, and they are about to crash and burn. They are probably cheating on the sales tax, and claiming that the transaction was voided to make smaller payments. They probably have to order cod, as they have bounced credit card transaction, and the distributors will not take the company checks anymore. Now they have to call to get a total, and have a money order ready for the products to be delivered. They may not be paying sales tax at all, and it is a matter of time before they get caught by IRS. Does this sound a bit close?? You need to find some documents before you leave, or quit (if you have not allready). Do not take any documents with you. These belong to the company, and you are not entitled by law, and you could be prosecuted for doing so. What you need to find is where it shows that you were on site doing a job. Perhaps hotel receipts, or receipts where you were on a job, and you had to go to Home depot, or radio shack to buy tools, or something to complete the job. Do you punch in and out even though you are on salary? You really need to sit down and think this out. What is there that shows you were working. Do you call on a cell phone to check out at the end of the day? "Hey boss. I installed everything. The customer is happy, and I need to go back tomorrow and show her/him how to operate the DVR. I will see you in the morning". You can get the transactions from your own provider!!! Do you have pay stubs that show you being payed by the hour, and then other pay stubs that show you being payed a salary because you went over 40 hours??? You can show that to the labor board, and you can get them to go after them for overtime due. This is the kind of documentation that can bring them to their knees! Here is a problem that you have. You have described a monetary value of $500. This is not going to get the attention of anyone. $1000.00 might be a felony where anything lower is a misdemeanor. If they plead down on a mesdemeanor then what? Maybe they get probation? Maybe they pay a fine, and admit to know wrong doing? That would really set my brain on fire!!! Go blow off some steam! You are only going to get yourself in trouble! _____________________________________________________________ Before you go to work for someone get it in writing. Buy an audio recorder, and inform them that you ARE RECORDING! ( I do not care what your laws are. Tell it like it is). If they have a problem then that is a red flag! Here is what you do. If you are on a cell phone then say something like "I do not have a pen with me, or I am in traffic and I cant write. Can you do me a favor, and call me back on my cell. I will not answer and you can let it go to voice mail and would you leave that info as a message? Have them send that info to you as an email. Print it out and keep it. This is a great way to document everything! You can show where someone told you to downgrade to an inferior product, or to tell you to do sub standard work. Document everything as you never know what you may need down the road. I email back to myself dates, times, places, and a todo list. I take photos on a site survey, and I email them to myself. I take photos during, and after. If a wire gets lost during construction then I can refer to the photos, and track it down with a toner. If a customer says that you broke something then those site survey photos will save your butt as there is the damage in the photos, and you have not even started an installation!! Whew! When I (very rarely, ok never) make a mistake I take photos of it, and I come clean with the customer and boss. I had a guy make me pay for extreme damage. In court I showed the site survey photo, and I showed my damage where I miss step and my foot landed on the drywall ceiling. you could barely see the bubble in the ceiling where my shoe made an imprint. When I left, the customer went to town creating damage so that He could get a remodel or something! People are nuts! Check to see if they have their licenses. Get their business card. Go on line and check to see if they have committed any crimes. Court docs are free. If you get a sense that they own the building then check it out. You can go online here in Florida and we can check property records. If you are in a transaction and you cannot afford an attorney then write it on paper and then take it to your bank. Have them nororize the papers. One copy for you, and one copy for them. -

The answer is: If it does work then that would be interesting. I would think that the router would give this system some grief. Simple netgear routers demand a certain sequence before everything sync's together. -
LOL! The question asked was "am I getting out of the field". NO! I have ten more stores to build, and I am cash shy.

Are you talking about a video extender, or are you talking about wireless camera transmitters, and receivers? For xmtr / rcvr packages you need to the distance between the two, and how many walls you are going to penetrate. Will this be b/w video, or color? Is security of the essence, or is budget of the essence? http://scorpiontheater.com/wireless.aspx

Will this LCD monitor work?
scorpion replied to Erock509's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
We do not know what DVR you are using, and what output for video you are using. Assuming that you are just using a regular video output from the DVR then you will need a BNC to RCA adapter and then you can use a regular video cable from your hometheater collection and plug this in to your LCD TV. You will be plugging it in to the yellow connector (composite). If you are using a VGA output from the DVR then you hook it up to the VGA input of you LCD. Note that some DVRs may require you to buy an adapter to use the VGA output. Check your DVRs owner manual. Other than that I cannot say as I am not familiar with you LCD that you listed.
