    Channel Plus splitter/combiners

Just a matter of upgrading your setup, or running separate wires, and using different TV inputs. 2. For two DVRs located in the same place, then you will have two local lan address such as 192.168.1.50 and 192.168.1.55 You can use one DNS account address and you would use different port numbers to tell between the two DVRs. #1 DVR has port 4040 #2 DVR has port 8080 yourname@dnsaccount.com:4040 for DVR number 1 yourname@dnsaccount.com:8080 for DVR number 2 If you are using a video viewer software then put the dnsaccount in to the ip address, and put your port number in, and then put in your user and password to connect to the DVR of choice.

In regards to safety, then I would be much more concerned about the physical security of my PC and electronic toys from a smash and grab. I can always hire a forensic computer specialist to find something, but I cannot find my stuff except to search at pawn shops ect. I have hidden a gps live tracking device in some of my equipment so that I can go to a computer and find my equipment before it gets to far, or too damaged. It can be done. take the camera number video loop out and connect it to a web server product (standalone not a pc product). Beyond that you will need to talk to someone else as I have not done it. There are various levels of security for your PC. The internal settings can match the level you need, or you can elevate it to a software fire wall. For adware, spyware, and those kinds of low level problems then learn how to set up the basics of your computer, and learn how to set a restore point, and how to return to a restore point. Learn how the various softwares the computer techs use to remove "bugs", and follow some of the PC forums. I do not recommend it, but I left a computer wide open, and loaded every P2P I could find, and then I learned how to remove the "junk" with the help of software, and online "help me i have virus death doom and destruction on my pc" forums where they tell you step by step what to do. I put a new hard drive in, and learned how to put in my win XP on my own. I can take care of the little things on my own, and I can save money by not taking it to the PC doctor for simple colds, and sniffles. Talk to a PC tech. They can set you up, and lock down the computer the way you want it. ____________________________________________________________ Note to the viewers who will be buying a computer this season. If you are computer savy then do not read. If you are not aware of it then watch out. Computers come off the shelf to be easy to use, and not all of the protection is set to "on". Get your computer properly set, and learn what you need to know to safely operate your computer. Example internet options privacy advanced overide cookie handling set to prompt This will keep your computer from becoming slow. This blocks out the cookies that keep track of where you go on the internet. You will need to learn how to allow the websites that you need such as anything that uses a password such as this forum, your banking, and email accounts ect. Off the shelf every company will place a cookie on your computer. To go to website blah blah.com you will end up going to 75 advertising companies before you end up at the website that you wanted, and you will stare at the hour glass for a second while you wait. There is more to what I am saying, and I am watering it down.

Hackers are going to make money, or disrupt for fun. How much is the video worth? How much can they "hack" your DVR? I come across DVRs with admin/admin all the time. I could change the IP address to take them off line, but then I could not get back in. What fun is there in that? Does your DVR carry your banking info? Would a Sonic Firewall be enough to provide a level of security? Does the manual to your DVR walk you through the process to setup an account with a dns product? _____________________________________________________________ Now that you have you DVR setup to a router, and you have your dns account you need to do a portfoward. What is your DVR port number? Your opinion

The question is: How much will you charge them on the internet, or how much will you make? Spend your money accordingly. If you are doing this for free then you will have to start cheap, and then upgrade as you go. If webpage hits mean anything then you will need to use high quality to start with. Where do you stand, and what is your budget, and how much are you willing to spend total?

    Hello from Uruguay :)

I have never tested a 780 with a cellphone so I cannot help you there. This DVR preceded the AVC 781 where you can use the cellphone as a viewer. I too would be interested to find out if it can be done. Welcome to the threads! See you on the forum!

    Java client for AvTech DVRs

The 780 is a much older DVR, and is not a kissing cousin of the 781. http://scorpiontheater.com/Documents/AVTech_Manual_English_AVC780_4002_V1.1.pdf http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/781.pdf It is a kissing cousin to the AVC 772, and the AVC 773. This was the first AVTech 4 channel DVR (to my Knowledge) that ventured in to the MPEG direction. This set the course for the AVC 781 DVR.

    First Timer

It def sounds like you are going to have to run a 2 conductor just for the PTZs! I do not think they will operate off of the cat5. Are you running the PTZs off of the power supply box, or did the PTZ come with their own power supply transformers?

    Anyone have experience with these?

You are going to need a 100 foot IR throw! You are going to need a vari focal lens that can get you up on you target area that you want to watch. At a minimum you will need a 12 mm lens.
  17. Can you go wide open with your router such as a DMZ? If it works wide open then it is a port issue. If it does not then it changes the troubleshooting procedure check list. Who is the Internet provider? What is the result of changing the gateway? Is this the same router even though it is a version 7? http://www.thomsonbroadbandpartner.com/dsl-modems-gateways/products/product-detail.php?id=161 Are you connected with a wire, or are you connecting wirelessly?

need a low cost home system

Find a dealer in your area that carrys the MaxPro DVR, or the AVC 760A. Have them do a site survey to see which would be the best products for your budget.
  19. What do you get when you use the browser? Microsoft cannot display this page. (or a search engine displays no search found). Can you at least get to the AnyTime & AnyWhere page, and then you have a problem after putting in the user/password? _____________________________________________________________ Using the AP what kind of message do you get? Login procedure failed? The fact that you can see video locally is a good sign! Now lets trouble shoot!
  20. What would happen if you changed your gateway to 192.168.1.1 ????
  21. I think you are good to go from what you have posted. From a remote location you would put in the Static IP address in to your browser, or you would put the static IP address in to your AP, and then you will be connected to your DVR. If this does not work then we can troubleshoot more from this point.

Can you slow down a bit? I am trying to write all this down by hand! LOL! Great info! Keep it coming!

    Anyone have experience with these?

I have never used this camera so I cannot give any advice, good, or bad. I was curious why you needed 100 feet of IR? I notice that the lens does not match the IR throw.
  25. Unless it was a typo then you need to portforward port 8000, and not port 80 as shown above. ???
