Hi My dvr is located under the stairs in a cupboard, its connected to 4 cameras via cat5 cable. Also in this cupboard is my internet router. My dvr has vga and hdmi outputs. I used to just hook up a small monitor to access settings etc and then view cameras using my iPhone app. My question is: Is there a way that I can view the cctv on my living room smart tv without using any cables? Thankyou in advance for any help on this

Hi The story so far...... Have tried to connect camera to the dcr using baluns with power tails and cat5. Didn't work so tried a bnc cable and worked straight away. I obviously want to use cat5 for ease of running cables and cost etc. The cat5 cable i used was a working network cable. My question is do i use a normal network cat5 cable or does it need wiring differently....or maybe the baluns are faulty.

@ Don Stephens: Have swapped around my cameras and find that the camera in question is faulty, getting a replacement. Thankyou for taking the time to answer. @ The Toss: If you can't be helpful don't waste your time......or mine!

Hi I have 4 cameras connected to my dvr using cat5 and passive baluns. 3 of the cameras work fine but having trouble with 1. The cameras are powered by a power adapter with a 4 way splitter. The one i am having trouble with does not show a picture but when i cover the green led the ir lights up. Things i have tried so far: Disconnected the other 3 working cameras and their power - no difference. Swapped around the baluns- no difference. Swapped around dvr channels - no difference. Changed cat5 - no difference. Swapped around cameras - no difference. Any ideas please? Also when i only have the 3 cameras connected they are all good picture, when i connect the 4th camera up even though the 4th camera does not show a picture it makes the other 3 cameras bad picture......guess this problem is the power adapter so will get a better one.

All working except 1 camera, thing is the ir leds light up in the dark but no picture, does this mean that the cat5 is wired wrong?

Have never done anything with cctv before so please try to explain in layman terms if you can. I have purchased a full 960h D1 dvr, only a cheap one from ebay (all i could afford) The cameras i have are 700tvl analogue signal. The paperwork with the cameras says effective resolution 648 h x 488v. I have connected one of the cameras up but cannot see anything, the screen is blank...it is recording but no picture. The cameras 24 leds do light up if dark and am using a 2amp power adapter for the one camera to test. Going to get a 5amp when all installed

I have installed my dvr under the stairs. To connect to my living room tv I am using via/cat5 adaptors. The run is about 10 metres. Anyway when I connected it up using the cat5 i find the screen is all green and pretty dark too. What could be the problem? I am sure the rg45s have been wired properly and don't think the lengthy of run is excessive. Any advice would be great.

Have used these adapters in the past but not with this lengthy of cat5 though

Hi I have hooked up my Dvr to my tv by using cat5 cable and vga to cat5 adaptors. What I want to know is can I just use a cat5 spitter to get video on a second tv?

My screen does have bag and Hamid outputs but because my TVs are a long way from the dvr and the fact I have cat5 sitting about I have used cat5 with adaptors

Hi Have managed to get the cameras working, I went down to Maplins and got a bnc cable, plugged it in and got picture straight away. I was using video baluns with cat5 so either the baluns are faulty or the cat5 cable needs to be wired differently, I was using a known working lenght of cat5 so got be be the baluns i guess

Hi I have purchased 4 dome cameras, they've not come with power adapters.......or any real info enclosed with them. The only thing it says on paperwork is: Power consumption: 12 volts 350mA current. I am not going to buy 4 power adapters but am only buying 1 with 4 splitters. I have no idea what amp the power adapter should be so any help would be great. Thank you in advance

Hi Need some help before I purchase the wrong system for my home. Am after a cctv system, am on a very tight budget, around the £100 mark (dont laugh) I already have a spare sata 750gb hard drive that i'm going to use in the dvr. What i am looking for is a dome camera cctv system, going to need 4 ir cameras, ideally want them to record in colour in the day and black & white at night. All 4 of the cameras would be outside although 3 of the cameras would be under cover. Also want to be able to see the 4 cameras footage in multiplex on my tv. Want motion sensing so the cameras do not record all day for nothing but only when they sense movement, also i want to receive an email to my iphone so i can see video of the footage. Would be great also to be able to see a live feed on my tv as well as iphone. Do i have to go with the app they say to use on my iphone or can i go with others? I have looked at the items below, would really appreciate if you could take the time to look and give me some feedback. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFEWAY-4CH-D1-DVR-Dome-700TVL-Indoor-Night-Vision-Camera-CCTV-Security-System-/121556642603?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item1c4d572b2b http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DEFEWAY-4CH-FULL-D1-eCloud-DVR-700TVL-Dome-Night-Vision-Camera-CCTV-System-/121556646205?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item1c4d57393d http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4CH-4-Channel-960H-HD-CCTV-DVR-Recorder-System-4-Fixed-Dome-Security-Cameras-/111374437296?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item19ee6f0bb0 I will be buying video baluns so i can use cat5 cable as i a reel of it in the garage.
