Current UK Law regarding residential CCTV and RIPA

Superb Tom, good advice I see, and thanks for helping out
  2. Hi all, I'm new here so sorry if I've posted in the wrong part of the forum. Admin please move if so I am moving to a new house in London soon which I'll be running 2 Hikvision domes and Xprotect. Much fun! Anyhooo - reason for post is I would like to find out my legal rights on filming my driveway, and partially the path roadway next to it (I honestly do not want or need to film the neighbours!) I have been warned about RIPA (http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2000/23/contents) however I think that's only for officially filming public, not private use. Can someone help please? Mark

Thanks. Sorry do you mean cctv or signs are the mistake? Deterrent is no. 1 so want them visible.

Thank you! Would hope not to need any licences, but would like to reassure neighbours who are not aware of the regulations etc, that the cameras a: only record my property, and b: the cameras do not fall under public camera regulations. Bit worried that the angle I'll need to have them at to not film neighbours across the street, will mean anyone with a cap will hide their face... Anyone have a porch mounted cam and worry about encroaching neighbours with it's field of view?
