720p or 1080p cameras for Hikvision 7200 series DVR?
trooper replied to sijaz's topic in Security Cameras
720p dont waste your time or money. You will kick yourself. Get a minimum 1080p at 20-30fps -
Get a minimum 3mp camera like hikvision dome cameras. You wont get anything decent for £300. You would be looking at about £1200 for a decent 4 camera HD system.

mp4 files - can this be converted to other video formats?
trooper replied to cupboy's topic in Security Cameras
I used cloudconvert.com free to use and free to sign up. Will convert mp4 into anything you want -
Could save more. Depends on how much is moving past cameras and how sensitive you have the cameras set on
-
yep usual people dont have a DDNS setup

My opinion and im not expert with CCTV lol. Aliexpress will be your cheapest for sure, BUT you will need to know what you are exactly looking for. Also with aliexpress try and get multi-language systems as chinese ones can be a problem later on if you don't know what you are doing. Hikvision 8ch "NVR" (not DVRs anymore) with a 2TB hard drive should get you 2 weeks worth of footage but that will depend on quality you are recording in and if you are constantly recording or just motion detection recording. A 16ch NVR for 2 months recording Hikvision do one with 4 SATA Slots up to 6TB HDD Each. But make sure you check as a lot of NVRs sold don't have any hard drives fitted, you will need to pay extra for them, or ask the supplier if they can fit them. All hikvision systems have motion detection recording. I am not sure about any sound recording as my hikvision cameras don't have it. But i am sure there are hikvision cameras that do as my NVR has the option.

Yep cheap low quality camera will be the problem

Using indoor cameras outdoors under roof
trooper replied to KPC's topic in General Digital Discussion
I just bought a hikvision PTZ and didn't realise it was an indoor camera. Im going to give it a go under my eaves and see how long it lasts. Fingers crossed I get a couple of years out of it. -
Do you have a DDNS setup for remote viewing? If not you will need one to remote view it.

Hikvision from Aliexpress
trooper replied to g35 mass's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
So they will fully work though with no probs including a chinese hikvision ptz? Just don't upgrade firmware? -
Oh ****. I didn't realize it was an indoor camera. Wonder how long it will last outside lol
-
Hi all. Im looking at a hikvision ptz but have two choices. I don't know if I should get the higher megapixle without the zoom or the lower megapixle with the zoom. These are the basic specs. Ptz 4mp 6-8mm zoom Ptz 2mp 4-12 4xzoom I need to capture about 15 meters from camera which my current 4mm 3mp hikvision cameras don't do a good job of reading a number plate.
-
Im going on what the advert says i can see your point. Maybe its 1x zoom and 3xzoom. Model DS-2DC2204IW-DE3/W
-
Yeh i thought 4mm vs 6mm was not much difference.

Ok, i know there is a million threads about this but thats the problem, to many to find my answer. I want to buy this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/HIKVISION-Original-2MP-Instock-IP-Wifi-Mini-PTZ-Camera-3mm-6mm-wireless-With-IR-Support-ONVIF/32439766530.html?spm=2114.30010308.3.61.hD1o2x&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_0,searchweb201602_4_10017_10005_10006_10034_10021_507_10022_508_10020_10018_10019,searchweb201603_7&btsid=f458ffe4-bbc9-442f-9669-338942d6bdf1 Its has a chinese firmware but it says its compatable with IVMS4200 if you change the language. Thats fine but i want to also run it direct on my NVR controls. Will the PTZ and all its functions work with my english NVR????

Have you considered using the web viewer through the internet browser on the TV? Can you explain this a little bit more Synconscious? I have Hikvision IVMS program and run my Dyns through No-ip.com, what website should I go to to view my cameras?
-
Hi all, I connected to NO-IP.com site for a DNS server to remote view my cameras. It works fine until I turn my computer off. The website runs an IP address checker and changes it everytime my ISP changes my IP address. This only works when my computer is switched on. Is there anyway I can make is update without having my computer on?

Newbie bought 3 hikvision cams (3MP) needs an NVR
trooper replied to tms21's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I bought everything hikvision, easier that way. Thats if you go for a NVR. If your using a PC Avigilon is one of the best to run on PC, I have heard the algorithms help you zoom in and make it clearer like a CSI TV thing. -
no expert here: but from what I have done and understand, you need to manually change the passwords on all phones, tablets etc if you change the password on the server
