can you still telnet to it or ping it on the network?

Somewhat irritated that these mini nvrs won't support general tcp connectivity with mjpeg. Dlink sells a lot of cameras, the DCS 93* series that can't be used by these nvrs. They don't use onvif and don't need to because they don't pan, tilt, or zoom, but just general tcp connectivity should be standard. Also, it would be nice if there were some "tools" included like my modem has. Can the devices even see (ping) each other? A simple ping tool would be helpful.
