Hi GH75, I just saw your post. I don't log in very often because I've sort of lost faith in these "communities." There are only a few helpful people on here. It seems that the majority of users on here are eastern-market sellers looking for ways to hack region-locked firmware with the intent to sell to to western markets. As for your question, it sounds like you're on the right track. If the main stream is not being recorded, it should not matter. Why that DVR is going down is a bigger mystery. I don't use a DVR myself, but I have a QNAP Turbo Nas that I use as an NVR. I would try to troubleshoot that DVR. You said you have to reboot the PC, so does that mean the DVR is software running on a workstation, such as Windows?

I've become a bit frustrated with the fact that Dahua passes the responsibility to distribute firmware to vendors who are often unresponsive and people on here saying "PM me for the firmware." I know there's a Dahua firmware thread, but considering it has over 50 pages, I wouldn't want to dig through 50 pages just to find a simple link. I have successfully updated my cameras with all these bin files, except for General_IPC-HX5(4)XXX_Eng_P_Stream3_V2.420.0005.0.R.20141205 As new firmware is released, I'll try to find it and put it on my Mediafire account. If you have a legitimate reason why I shouldn't host this firmware, please reply and let me know, so I can take it down, but please don't report to ban me. I'm just trying to do a good thing here. Could be your browser. Have you tried others?

Many IP cameras allow multiple users to logged-in to their GUIs simultaneously, so If you had a second computer, such as a laptop, you could use one for the controls and the other connected to the projector. The computer connected to the projector would be logged into the camera and viewing full screen, while the other computer controlled the camera.

I seem to remember having an issue like this on my Windows 7 PC. Ultimately, the system (user name) itself did not have full control permissions over the directory, so regardless of what the FTP commands were attempting to do, the system could not create or delete folders/files. Once I gave the gave the system full control in the security properties, which was a lengthy process, the FTP began working properly.

For your first question: I haven't seen it personally, but I've heard about it happening. It's probably the injector/switch failing. Your second question: The 4200S' max resolution is 1920x1080, which is 16:9. The 4300S' max resolution is 2048x1536, which is 4:3. Have you tried lowering the 4300S to 1920x1080 to match the 4200S?

I prefer the IVS feature on the 10.R version, rather than the newer 8.0.R (7-10). Does the Synology automatically connect or does the camera need to be configured to communicate with the NAS, if in which case, check the Storage setting on the camera. The storage settings are typically wiped while upgrading the firmware. You said it seems to be motion detection, so that may have something to do with the IVS feature. You can upgrade to the 8.0.R version which doesn't have the IVS.

We established that the FTP on the camera is uploading and functioning properly, so the problem seems to be the router. The Netgear R7000 has limited FTP functionality, so without the ability to create a username and password for the camera, this may be a dead-end. With the router's FTP authentication set to Admin, did you try using Guest (with no password) on the camera?

I was having this problem for years, but now I use the IVS feature which works fairly well with eliminating false-positives. I have the IPC-HFW4300S's.

I don't have experience with Hikvision, but by chance, is the camera's bit rate set to VBR? On my Dahua, when I set it to VBR, I'll notice the picture quality will drop substantially at random, then jump back up to better quality. I leave the cameras on CBR to avoid the problem. I hope this helps.

Yes, the username and password where I have Cam1 is the FTP username and password. The remote directory does not need to exist first. The FTP username needs write access, so the camera can create and upload videos. Be warned, though, Dahua has (IMO) a stupid method of creating directories, so videos are buried somewhat deep in folders respective of camera, date, hour, minute, and a bunch of crap in between. I stopped using my router as an FTP server because of this, now I have a computer running 24/7 that acts as an FTP server with a scheduled task to pull videos out of those folders and sort them for me.

I had a strange issue exactly like this when I upgraded to Windows 10. Regardless of which browser I was using, all streams in the web gui would fail. Reinstalling the plug-in did nothing, so I almost gave up till I tried reinstalling the NIC driver. For some reason, the network driver Windows 10 installed by default was affecting the browser and the driver was out of date. Once I downloaded and installed the up-to-date drive for the Asus motherboard, the browser began working like normal.

You have the FTP enabled over the internet, so you will definitely want a username and password (I see foreign IP addresses attempt to log into my FTP all the time). As an example, I just connected to your FTP and it let me in with no problem. All I see is the shares folders (looks like there are two of them /shares/shares) To continue troubleshooting, type ftp://readyshare.routerlogin.net into your browser's address bar and see what happens. The browser should pull up the router's FTP space like it did for me. If that works, try typing readyshare.routerlogin.net as the server address in the cameras. The cameras may not accept a domain name, so if that is the case, you will need the exact IP address, which should be the router/gateway. An easy method to find the gateway is to bring up a command prompt (press the Windows key on your keyboard + r), then type cmd and press enter. The command prompt window should appear. Type ipconfig and press enter. Look for "Default Gateway" and the address next to it, which is what you want. Back on the cameras, type the gateway address into the server address for your cameras (where you have 0.0.0.0 in the picture). You can also try installing FileZilla FTP https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client on your computer and connect to the FTP to get a more detailed look at where the hangup is. If you can log into the FTP, the cameras should be able to log in.

The camera's server address is your local gateway address (typically 192.168.1.1). You need a username and password for the shares (which is plugged into the camera). I don't think the cameras play well without authentication.

Thanks I'm not an expert on IVS, so I make no claims to knowing much more than exploring my own cameras. I try to follow the releases of firmware because Dahua tends to include new features and bug fixs. Finding these releases is ridiculous because vendors are often idiots that act like they are Dahua's exclusive entourage. From what I can tell, Dahua enabled IVS on the 2.420.0000.10.R, build : 2015-04-24 firmware, which is the first time I've seen it. IVS is a software feature that analyzes the camera's picture and tracks moving bodies, rather than changes in pixels. By tracking bodies, the system is more efficient with actual events/alarms. Enabling the IVS feature (IVS Analyse) is just like enabling motion detection (Video Detect), under Events on the web GUI. Your option tabs are Tripwire, Intrusion, and Scene Change. On each of them, I don't know what Target Filter is. Trip wire is exactly what it sounds like, you draw a rule (a line) and select from the drop-down which direction you want it to detect, which is noted on your drawn lines (like motion detection areas, you have up to four lines). Tripwire doesn't seem to be very refined. There has to be some sort of invisible threshold around the lines for the system to determine movement from one direction to the next and it doesn't perform well (seems to be around 50% accurate). Intrusion seems to be a glorified tripwire with how Dahua set it up, at least, for now. Instead of drawing flat lines, you draw lines and connect them to form shapes, which are the detection areas. This is what I use. It generally works well, but Dahua needs to either provide more pre-record time or allow shorter (or no) record delay. That, or just improve the IVS system to track longer. Most of the events my cameras film are cut short in some way. Scene Change, I'm not sure how this works. I know it does work because it will trigger and the camera will upload video, but it's not reliable. I'm guessing it looks for missing objects, but I don't know to configure it properly. I hope Dahua is continuing to develop the IVS because it has great potential. Hope this helps.

Yes, you can downgrade. I just did with my three IPC-HFW4300S's which were on 2.420.0008.0.R, build : 2015-07-10 I downgraded them to 2.420.0000.10.R, build : 2015-04-24 The version I downgraded to appears newer in file version, but older in date. Regardless, I "upgraded" the firmware using the System section of the web interface and everything was back to the way I wanted it, with the exception of the FTP settings being wiped, but that is normal with the firmware change. When I upgraded to 2015-07-10, I realized there was no IVS, so I immediately re-upgraded (downgraded). I won't upgrade again unless the version has IVS. It nearly eliminates false-positives.

Generally, that's a good rule of thumb, but not in this case. I bought a 720p Foscam in 2013 for $150, which was absolute junk. Nobody should trust a company with "scam" in it's name. In 2014, I bought my first Dahua IPC-HFW4300S for $140 and I love it. Since then, the IPC-HFW4300s has dropped to $120 and lower. I bought two more and all three are reliable. The only problem I've had was when I bought my third HFW4300s, HDSecurityStore (an Amazon seller) sent me the HFW4300s-V2, which seems to be an inferior attempt by Dahua to cut corners. I bricked the V2 with the first firmware update because it is not the same as the original HFW4300s, so I returned it to Amazon and bought the camera through a different seller. cctv_007 has a fantastic thread about Dahua cameras http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=44928 The post is generally about unbricking the camera, but it has a lot of helpful relating info too.

The destination folders are of the more annoying choices Dahua forces on the user. I emailed them with a request to allow users to control the FTP/NAS destination for the videos and images more precisely and they responded with: As for dealing with the videos and images on my Windows 7 machine, I use a program called Advanced Renamer, which is a light-weight batch file processor that runs via a GUI or command prompt and organizes the videos (moves them out of those individual folders and into consolidated folders, such as by-day). You can run the .bat file per instance or create a Windows task to have it done automatically to your preference. Go get Advanced Renamer and install it http://www.advancedrenamer.com (the portable version works too) Once AR is installed, run the program and create a preset (create a method) with these settings in the "New Name" field: <Hour Created>-<Min Created>-<Sec Created> This pattern will be how the files are named (for example, 02-15-59.dav), but you don't have to follow my preferences, you can play around in AR and have it name the files however you want, just keep in mind that AR will rename the files based on the time of file creation, so that example above might actually be a recording from 2:15am and 50 seconds, because the camera took 9 seconds to upload the video. Now, save the method list (click the floppy disk button on the top right of method list section) to AR's root directory (the main folder for Advanced Renamer, where the aren.exe is) Next, create a batch file/text document anywhere (such as on your desktop) and name it whatever you want (make a simple text doc and rename its extension from .txt to .bat) Edit the batch file and add this line of code (but modify it to reflect your configuration) CD C:\AR\arenc -e MethodList1.aren -p "C:\SecurityCameras\Cam1\" -s -m move -d "C:\OrganizedVideos\Cam1\<Month Created>.<Day Created>.<Year Created>" Change "C:\AR\" to the root directory of Advanced Renamer. Change "MethodList1.aren" to the name of your method list.aren. Change "C:\SecurityCameras\Cam1\" to the directory your videos or images are saved. I'm not sure if AR will work over a network drive, but you can try it, such as "\\MyNas\SecurityCamVids\" Change "C:\OrganizedVideos\Cam1\" to the location you want your videos or images moved. Now save and close the batch file. If everything is correct, you can double-click and run the batch file which will rapidly move the files while a command prompt pops up and closes when it finishes. As I said earlier, I set this up in a Windows Task event to run the batch file every half hour and I don't even see the command prompt window, it just works in the background. After you run the batch file, AR will move the files, but leave the folders, which you can delete later. All your videos will be organized and easy to find and open in the Smart Player.
