Currently i have the WAP54G router, and when i use the scan service above it said: The host ###.dyndns.org does not have a service running on port 8080 it seem like i have the "block annonomous request box checked", so i'll check it when i get home, and report back on what i have. Thanks

Hi everyone Sorry but i still could not my router / dvr setup to work outside of the house. here is what i currently have it set up as: DVR setting local ip: 192.169.0.11 port: 8080 Linksys setting: DNS set to connect to router. port forwarding: name: DVR local ip: 192.169.0.11 port: 8080 - 8080 protocol: both I can connect to the dvr locally using the local ip address, or i can even connect to it locally using the dns name address (with a 1 minutes delay for video streaming). But i can't connect to it from outside the house. I called my satellite company, and they said that they do not block any port. Is there any thing that i did wrong so that the dvr refuse to connect? I am assuming right now it's the router problem, but i don't see any option relating to firewall or blocking incoming traffic. thanks

How to change ip address on linksys for port forwarding?
pk5 replied to pk5's topic in Computers/Networking
hi eveyrone, i am backkkk well i got the dns to work...sort of if i use the provided software and type in the dns address locally i can access the dvr. But the image is frozen instead of moving live. Second, i cannot use the web browser to access it, even locally. And outside of the network i am out of lock. Is it just the router blocking all incoming port? basically i open up port 8080 and forward it from the router to the dvr. other than that, the other port are close. Or should i change it to another port, beside port 8080? I can access the dns from outside, but it seem that it is having trouble forwarding or making connection. Because it will try for a while then give an error of unable to connect. thanks -

How to change ip address on linksys for port forwarding?
pk5 replied to pk5's topic in Computers/Networking
Hi if my ip address is dynamic, how do i set it up so that i can view the cctv remotely? The information that i receive from the company, indicate that i have to make sure that my linksys router display a non-local ip address. As it turn out i assumed incorrectly that i have a static ip address, only the pro package get ip address, even on satellite.... .... So after i set the dvr to a certain gateway and ip address as indicate above, how can i set it so that i can access it? So far i set: 1) dvr to ip address: 192.168.1.99 a) dvr port: 8080 b) dvr masking: 255.255.255.0 c) dvr gateway: 192.168.1.1 2) linksys to port forward to: 192.168.1.99 port: 8080 I can access it locally, but i don't know how to access it from outside the network? thanks -

yes i can access the dvr locally, i just can't seem to make the port forwarding work or get the router to detect the ip address automatically (do i need to make it detect the ip?) Right now if i access the router status it show the local ip 192.168.0.5, while if i am on my netgear router (different place), it will show the modem ip address. thanks -
Hi everyone Currently i have a MPEG4 dvr, a linksys router, and a Hughes Satellite connection. I can determine my static ip address for the satellite manually, but the Linksys will not detect the static ip address, how can i setup the system for remote viewing? So far i have set up the DVR for: Static IP: 192.168.1.99 Port: 8080 Masking: 255.255.255.0 Gate: 192.168.1.1 Nothing change on the linksys yet, i couldn't figure out how to change the ip address without error, even though i already set it up for port forwarding Port forwarding info: name: dvr port: 192.168.1.99 - port 8080 What should i do next to be able to view it remotely? thanks
