  1. NM - it was the Lorex APP on my phone that was only going back 1 week. I logged into the computer software, and it has MUCH more recording. What a silly thing that the phone app only goes back 7 days.
  2. Hey all - I have a newer Lorex 4k PoE IP camera setup. It is an 8 camera system, and I have 7 cameras plugged in.I want at least 2 weeks of videos stored. I have a 6TB hard drive in the system (which I upgraded from the 2TB stock drive), and with 7 cameras plugged in, I was getting maybe 6 days worth of saved footage.I went into the storage settings, and made 4 of the cameras record motion only. I tested this by logging in a couple of days later, and sure enough just the motion events were viewable in playback mode. However, I am not gaining more days of archived footage. It still only goes back 1 week... How can this be?I am thinking of dropping the cameras to 1080p resolution just to get more space - but I would hate to lose 4x the quality.Any tips or ideas?
  3. Hey all, I have a cottage/camp that I need to put some cameras up for. I have a Lorex system at home which is wired and I am very pleased with it - but there is no feasible way to run wires with the way the land is setup here. So now I am into the wi-fi camera realm, and have a bunch of questions. 1. Do they have good 1080p night vision cameras that are wifi? 2. Does the DVR unit itself control the wi-fi? (As opposed to the cameras having to connect to my router at the cottage, which has poor range) (I can connect the DVR to my router with an ethernet) 3. RANGE. What unit would offer me good range? From the back of the cottage to the lake could be up to 100 feet, AND with a hill. 4. A general question about camera placement: I am going to be putting in a motion activated flood light, should I mount the camera above the flood light? So it would be 'behind' the light? In my head that seems to make the most sense. Thanks for any and all tips - they are appreciated!
  4. Thanks for the info - Tried it - but it does not support .ASF files
  5. Hey all - my NVR from Lorex outputs its video in a bunch of small .ASF files A lot of which are split right during action. Is there a piece of software from Lorex to merge the videos into ONE playable file? Or a third party software that is not full of spyware etc? Any help/tips are greatly appreciated!
  6. Hey all. My nutcase neighbor (aren't they all?) has already put up cameras that face into my backyard... Now he is putting up something on the side of his house again. Doesn't look like a camera.... if I had to guess, it looks like an audio eavesdropping device. Can anyone elaborate any further? (I know the picture isn't the greatest).
  7. Hey all. I have 2 hard drives in my system, 1 mirroring the other. I just got an error message on the screen that says: HDD space is insufficient now. I could have sworn I set it to just keep over-recording old stuff - so why am I seeing this message? What settings should I double check? Thanks for any tips!
  8. I finally see space being used on the 2nd drive! Thanks for the pointers!
  9. I completely agree... not very intuitive. Setting the 2nd HDD as mirror should start an immediate mirror of all cameras. THEN - if you want to specify individual cameras as NOT being mirrored, then that is an advanced option where you would go to 'schedule'.
  10. I went to options - storage - then SCHEDULE - and then selected ALL for cameras, and put a check mark by MIRROR, hit APPLY, then OK. We will see!
  11. No I did not set that... which menu is it located under?
  12. Hey all - I thought I followed the user manual correctly in setting up my mirrored drive. I have the 2nd hdd in the same group as the 1st hdd.. I went to storage manager and set the 2nd drive as MIRRORED HDD. I just checked the storage again today and I see: 1st - 480GB/1.81TB 2nd - 1.81TB/1.81TB What simple step did I miss to make the mirroring happen?
  13. So now I can mark this thread as SOLVED. Simply moving the camera down solved both the color issue, AND the whitewash issue. Thanks for the fast replies and valuable information - it really helped a first time camera user!
  14. Spot on analysis! I moved the camera down, and now the color seems to have corrected itself! I will see tonight if that makes a difference with the whitewash issue. How odd that something ABOVE and completely out of the line of sight causes issues.
  15. Ok - I will play with the camera position tonight - unfortunately - there IS something above it - as I had the guy who installed it put a little cover above it to protect it from the rain/snow (it is in a perfect place to get hammered by the elements). On a second note - I played with the color settings last night to see if that would help that whitewash issue - it didn't of course - so at the end I reset the values to default and went to bed. This morning when I look at the cameras - the one I played with is now noticably different looking than the other 2 outdoor cameras. It looks more yellowy/orangy as opposed to whiter/florescent. I attached a pic to show the two right next to eachother. I happen to like the whiter look - how can I get this back?
