Hey all, I've been running the said mininvr from escam for a couple years now (firmware 20151231)and 3 qd300 cameras from escam as well. Here's me experience: Motion detection works fine under i12 protocol. Recording starts a bit late, due to HDD spin up. If I set cameras to pre-record it's OK, but the HD never rests. When fiddling with i-protocols, you sometimes have to re-upload existing ones for them to work. Camera setting sometimes don't update. You either have to wait, or enable/disable the camera manually from channel settings. Bottom line, nvr is good only for HDD recording and monitoring through hdmi. If you want to connect remotely to watch the cameras, you'd better connect to the cameras themselves.

I had no issues with ESCAM QD300 cameras, set up recording and motion detection fine, although still playing with the settings...

Indeed, sometimes it's not functional. I've visited their page a number of times but never seen anything on that particular page; I guess their support page is still under development... Thanx for the update!

Re the ONVIF vs ix issue, I believe that if there's an ix private protocol for your camera, you should use that and not ONVIF; I have 3 identical ESCAM QD300 cameras that were detected sometimes as ONVIF, sometimes as i12. Automatic detection was working with ESCAM original firmware. When registered as i12 on the nvr, I can access more features of the cameras. Have not tried motion detection thoughroughly yet. However, after updating to latest firmware and adding i12 (I found it somewhere), since the update killed i12, the cameras do not get automatically detected anymore, not even as ONVIF cameras. I can however add them manually and they seem to be working fine. What could be the culprit? Wrong i12 protocol update maybe? Are there different versions of these as well? On your case, maybe i9 was deleted by the update, in which case I guess you have to add it manually. That said, it would be a good idea to have a repository of ix private protocols. Oh, and maybe older firmware versions as well for testing purposes. I cannot comment on the USB issues (had none) or the HD issue, since I still haven't plugged an HD as of yet. Maybe you could try erasing the HD on a computer (clear partitions) and then see what happens as USB. However, seems like the USB is not working properly. Does a flash thumb drive get registered? I would reinstall the firmware if I were you.

Hello, new user here MANY thanx that this thread even exists, although it did hurt my head and eyes a bit, after having read 48 pages of forum content. EVEN MORE THANX to Mike Mahon, for all the information and help on this thread. Not to forget that I should get future ip cameras / nvrs from their online store. I recently bought an ESCAM K108 8-CH NVR (running FW20140417) and two ESCAM QD300 cameras (don't remember FW version, will have to look at it later). Just my few cents: 1. I don't think building wifi into these units is a good idea, since wifi supports limited bandwidth, which could be easily reached if using more than 5 4Mbps HD cameras on your setup. 2. for the above same reason, having PowerLines on your LAN would probably be a bad idea. 3. found out that when lan connection is slow or has issues, preview usually plays, but full screen HD does not, or there are black-outs on the video streams. This happens a lot during well-lighted periods of the day, since streams are of a higher bandwidth when there's lots of detail on the captured video. Lowering the data rate fixes the above issue. 4. if trying to connect to ESCAM IP cameras using i12 protocol, you should NOT enter a password on the camera. Took me a few hours to figure out. Will now take the chance and update to 20150124 firmware using a USB flash drive. EDIT: Update went smooth, but I lost i12 protocol. Will try and add it right now... EDIT2: After adding i12 protocol, the cameras would not be automatically detected. Had to manually set them up using i12, port 34567. Seem to be working fine. Any chance I added some old protocol file? Any link to the right ones?
