Avtech KPD679B-E: No HDD, checking, red flashing LED on PCN
Esinem replied to Esinem's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I have been totally unable to do a hard reset. I followed the instructions to short TP5 & TP6 and turn on. It beeps immediately and returns to the error state. As I still see my camera names, e.g. front, side etc. I assume the full reset failed, although the date has reverted to 2011 so maybe it's some kind of partial reset? I even tried leaving the battery out for a couple of days but it still won't reset camera names. I'm hoping that a complete factory reset might clear the problem Any ideas? I'm stumped -

Thanks but I tried another HDD, no difference. Oddly, I can't seem to reset the unit. Tried shorting out TP5 & TP6 as suggested elsewhere but it hasn't reset. I was hoping a clean boot might do the trick. -

My DVR went down the other day. Now, it says it has "No HDD" and is "Checking". I tested both drives and they seem OK. I have reinstalled one after it passing Seatools Long Generic Test. Still get the same issue. The drive is powering up but it stays "Checking" and a red LED flashes on the PCB. I have just removed the battery on the mobo to see if a complete reset does the trick since it still seemed to retain the camera settings details as the camera names came up on the display. I can't access any menus however and it says the keyboard is locked. I'm hoping it's just a corruption of the settings file. Any more ideas gratefully received as I'm out of them now? -
DDNS: Do I need to add any in the MX record?
Esinem replied to Esinem's topic in Digital Video Recorders
OK, some improvement. The screen now seems to have an event time but still no video Here's what I get: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8mM_ZOwwovNS3dOU1VaOWF5SmZTQ0Ewb2tNU3Z4cHJ4cktN/view?usp=sharing I'm guessing the problem is that it doesn't know where to find the file. In Video Viewer, whilst Events are recorded, in spite of lots of trigger events, I get nothing in the main Event Trigger listing: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8mM_ZOwwovNeVQ3N3VoMjU4TGs/view?usp=sharing Although, notifications do appear here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8mM_ZOwwovNZnNFV1RjSVA4eDA/view?usp=sharing Should Information be blank? Am I wrong in thinking I should I be able to access the video from these listings? -

I'm using Gmail to send and Outlook to view but I see the same issue in the Gmail sent msgs. All these fields are blank in the alert: User Name : Password : Channel : Start Time : End Time : Overall the instructions leave a lot of guess work. For example, the settings require a user name and p/w or IP but they never say which one, e.g. email login, router login, no-ip login, DVR login? -
DDNS: Do I need to add any in the MX record?

Many thanks. I got it sending alert emails eventually but unfortunately all I get is a mail saying "Trigger Occur" telling me "If you see this then your email client is not mime / MHTML compliant" and either with a player page with no parameters or files that look for a Video Player file. EaglesEyes shows nothing under Event Triggers. I'm guessing it doesn't know where to look (my DVR has 2 drives). I can't figure out how to tell it where to look for the video. Is there a path setting somewhere? -
I'm failing to get email alerts from my Avtech KPD679. I can view via the web but haven't found any way to get emails. I have tried various email systems, my email info and DVR info in user/password but nothing. I see No-Ip has an option for setting up MX records. Do I need to do this? Is there anything in my TP-Link Archer C7 that might need configuring? Totally baffled Help much appreciated

Well, my hosting company say that email config looks fine to them. So why no emails? Update: From what I read elsewhere, the user name & p/w requested are for the DVR, not the email. Is that correct? Even so, that seems to make no difference. UPDATE: This, thanks to Leo at Avtech, works to an extent. It seems gmail is not MIME/MHTML compliant and gmail says it is sendin the emails to the recipient but they don't arrive. SMTP: smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 Mail from: MAILADDRESS@gmail.com SSL: ON Verify: ON User: email address Password: Gmail password

I've been doing battle trying to configure alerts on my KPD679. It took me some while as a complete dunce with ip's, routers, port forwarding etc. but I finally got access via EagleEyes app and via the browser. A number of things still making my brain hurt: 1) I'm getting ftp files OK but it asks for a p/w. I can't figure out which one it wants as my ftp and DVR logins don't work. Any ideas? 2) As for email alerts, the best I think I have been able to achieve is a blank email with not even a sender name or subject in them (They could be spam and unrelated, it's hard to tell). This is curious since the config screen has a valid sender address (cctv@mydomain.com). What should the email contain? An SMS would be a whole load better but not sure if this is an option. I guess a workaround, if not, is to use something like Zapier (https://zapier.com/)? There also seems to be a few minutes delay between a motion trigger and an event in the log, then a much longer delay in getting an email (in Squirrelmail which excludes any delay added due to Outlook or Spamihilator). Is this normal? I'd expect alerts to be almost instant to be any use. It's no good knowing there's a problem 20-30 mins after the event. I have no idea what's going on now as I seem to get neither alert mails nor a error in the log and stupidly didn't make a note of what was at least sending blank mails. My current settings are: Email alert: On SMTP: 77.235.63.203 (also tried mail.esinem.com) (hosted at Eurovps) Port: 00025 Mail from: ccctv@esinem.com SSL: Off (Have mailed my hosting co to check this) Verify p/w: Off (Have mailed my hosting co to check this) Username: ccctv@esinem.com P/w: ******** Receiver: ccctv@esinem.com Firmware: 1011-1001-1004-1002 (Should this be upgraded or left well alone?) Can anyone please help me retain what little of my sanity I have left?
