You second time forget about fiber cable bandwidth Read this: http://www.arcelect.com/Calculating_fiber_loss_and_distance.pdf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabit_Ethernet So, if you have 2 km distance, 1Gbps link will not work with multimode cable, or you will need specific expensive gigabit multimode converters....

Just capture video or recognition system? If you just want to see number plates on recorded video, you just need good camera, with manual shutter setting at about 1/250 - 1/500 s. At day you will have numbers recorded without any problems, at night - you should "play" with illuminator mounting place and power. Just remember, that number plates reflects light to the same way, from where light is coming to plate, so, you should place illuminator near the camera.

DIY low cost home project nvr or something?
shropna replied to tangcoral's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just camera to ethernet. Exacq soft works in demo mode with one camera without any cost. But, for better system reliability, you can build low cost Linux machine on Atom processor for Exacq NVR service. -
No any ideas, except you connect control wires to UTP video output + - on dome... Normally screen doesnt flicker, when you control dome. Output number on CDU-T doesnt care, all outputs are "parallel", just for star cabling. Also, do not forget about baud-rate- should be 4800 for P protocol.

UTP for analog video is rubbish

You should send SensorNet control from AD keyboard connected to Sensornet control port at default configuration, or if you use another type of control, connect it to RS422 port and send any command from controller. Of course, dont forget address switching an protocol type on dome. When dome receive any proper control command, this screen disappears automatically.

UTP for analog video is rubbish

The same experience. Sync signal is always not straight, but who cares Image via twisted pair is better, when you comparing the same long! (over 200-300 meters) distance. Of course, you should use not only passive - passive baluns. I'm never do that combination. Maybe, few times, when distace is less than 50 meters. At distances up to 600 meters - passive - active, 600 - 1000 meters - active active. And no any cooper over 1000 meters, only optical fiber..Thats all, and no problems And, of course, NVT, with galvanic inputs separation -

Controll room VMS software options
shropna replied to Razesdark's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You mean BVMS - Bosch Video Management System? Works good. But you can use this system only with Bosch encoders or IP cams. Or, with Bosch Recording Station you can use some of another manufacturers cameras. Lots of features, you can add more features using integrated scripting (C# and C++ languages). Milestone not so flexible about configuration possibilities, but you can use almost any IP camera or encoder. -
Hello All. I'm asking about custom builded workstations for 4, as example, monitors support on one operators workstation. What kind of graphic cards you use? I find, that "powerful" gaming cards works bad with lots of VMS user interface solutions. It looks, that direct video information access to that cards cause not stable all another user interface work... Any experience, suggestions?

Question about ip cameras and license's
shropna replied to tmunroe's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Pelco's CST150 tools was not reliable. Its just an idea, how to setup focus at bright sunlight About cameras with ICR. Almost ALL sensors are more sensitive to red wavelength. So, what i mean about welding filters green wavelength pass .... -
Ok. But remember, this is minimum hole to run three RG59 cables. Better way, is run some tube, for future cabling, or faulty cables easy changing or replacing to other cables (Cat5, as an example).
-
Hm. Is difficult to combine this three cables and measure necessary diameter ? OK, about 16 mm bit will do that.....

Question about ip cameras and license's
shropna replied to tmunroe's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
How can you see the video with the sunlight? Down here on the monitors outside you cant see anything to get a proper focus. BTW. Better way to set proper focusing, is to set camera shutter speed to, for example, 1/10000 sec., or, set shutter to Auto, and fully open lens with Level controls. When you do this, lens iris will be fully open at day . Sometimes is difficult to find or have good NEUTRAL density welding filter.... Some welding filters are not neutral, but, as example, more green color pass, so, you can have some problems, caused by lens chromatic aberration.... And, if you at high places, more "useful" is hold you body on "lever", instead hold filter For focusing at bright sunlight you can use, for example, this tool: http://smartsecuritycamera.com/assets/files/products/Pelco/Pelco_C2912.pdf Hm, about 10 years ago, I'm made toll, like this, from broken camcorder view finder -
Building NVR Specs
shropna replied to Tom12345's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Good document about specifications: http://www.digifortcommunity.com/uploads/3/DigiFort_Specifications_-_v5_-_End_Users.pdf Of course, this is not universal to all VMS, but near to Exacq, for example, requires less server CPU power, because use motion detection on camera. -
If POS monitor resolution is small (640x480, or 600x800) you can use just simple VGA to PAL (NTSC) converters. Like this: http://www.converters.tv/products/vga_to_pal/512.html And record signal on any DVR. If screen resolution is bigger, this will not work (text will be too small). In this case, if POS PC running on Windows, Mirasys has software solution to do screen encoding ant transmission via LAN and recording on Mirasys NVR.

Bosch Security IP cameras
shropna replied to akelley's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
With Bosch cameras i'm always use BVMS. With Exacq Bosch doesnt work now, but Bosch is ONVIV compatible, so, you should wait new vwersion of Exacq. With Milestone works ok. IVA metadata will work only with Bosch soft. But, Bosch cameras is expensive, and you will not got lot "better" results, if you use Bosch cameras with third party software. Thats my opinion, of course... -
Bosch Security IP cameras
shropna replied to akelley's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Bosch has excellent standard resolution cameras. Also IP. Easy to setup, reliable, lots of features, etc.... Now with progressive scan. With BVMS (Bosch Video Managing Software) you can release almost all requested functionality, because BVMS has integrated scripting. You just should know C++ or C# programing languages. Also, if you use IP cameras or encoders with IVA, you will have forcensis search possibility, that means, you can add intelligent motion detection filters in playback, such as "find red car mowing from left to right" or smth, because with video streams IVA metadata also will be recorded. Bosch support regarding "known" issues fast, but, if you need additional features or find new "bugs", enhancements and fixes you will wait years.... -
