Comparing optical zoom to MP
shropna replied to akelley's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hm. This is the simple calculations.... Just compare pixels quantity But this is not true Optical resolution for megapixel cameras is more difficult issue, then the pixels quantity -
Please help!!!! interference on cameras STILL!!!!
shropna replied to liveguard's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
It looks, like on night mode recorder "trying" catch color signal from cameras. You can use "color burst" function (if available) on cameras in night mode, or just "reduce" cameras resolution (high frequency signals) from camera just by adding picofarade range capacitors in parallel of video signal. -

But that is not dynamic range If you can see colors of flashers or flasher mechanical form, thats will be dynamic range. Now i see only big white "dots" at flasher area.... "Washed out" can be due to other cameras light control settings.... -

No, you not right. Just compare "day" pictures, and look, for example to cars roofs and windscreens. On Sanyo image everything ok, on Mobotix - that parts are over-lighted, no details. That means, dynamic range of mobotix is worse.... On your film i cant see any info about "better" dynamic range, just lamps flashing, and that areas are over-lighted (no information about different red and blue colors, looks just like a white flashers.... Better examples, what i mean: -

Exacq software (runs on Ubuntu distribution, but about $150 per camera...), Sanyo HD cameras (2100 2300 or 3100 3200) Sanyo cameras has more better dynamic range, in comparison with Arecont, for example... -

Help required with Bosch VideoJet X10 and IE Browser Control
shropna replied to Joides's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Encoders can control PTZ, if you will choose PTZ option control in encoders COM ports setup. But. If you control PTZ from DiBos software, COM ports is set to "transparent" mode, so, encoders just repeats PTZ control commands from control software. So, control PTZ via Explorer and soft, at the same time is not possible.... -
For just transmit video via IP i just use Hikvision encoders and decoders. But. Is this the solution? I thing, if you want keep existing cameras, just put them to encoders, but do not use any decoders. Just use some of IP VMS....
-
Rory, you spoke a lot... Any of you needs (posted previous) can be resolved with Bosch Video Management System (BVMS) but expensive.... But for coax to IP : http://www.mobotix.com/other/Products/Mx2wire Also, all mobotix line can help you.

Of course, small pixel pitch is the larger factor, than lens aperture, but this is very close really Just show me more megapixel cameras with large pixels, except "exotic" like Avigilon, Lumenera.... Also, lens manufacturers do "auto-iris" lenses with neutral light filters to reduce aperture instead of just mechanical aperture....
-
And, simple picture about lenses aperture and imager pixel size:
-
What about diffraction effects on lens with "smaller" aperture? Just one of examples: http://www.conent.com/ConAdv/Encyclopaedia/Photography/CNQ_CAPhotography001.asp This is not CCTV site, but physic is the same... It looks, if you choose lens with smaller aperture, you will have more deep focus. But.... When you chose smaller aperture, you will have less optical resolution at "ideal" focus distance.
-
Think about difference between Photo lenses and CCTV lenses. Difference is just in CCD or CMOS imager size Avigilon uses large size sensors with large pixels, so, lens optical resolution less sense...

If you has money for first step, use fiber (y) About maintenance - with fiber you will not got any lightening problems, thats the main thing. Second, fiber transmission widely used for all types of signals, so, you can use that lines not only for analog cameras transmission.

VMS software with dual stream capabilities
shropna replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The Axis P 1346 can do this with stream profiles. This is one of the reasons I was asking about taking advantage of this. The same situation with Sanyo HD line cameras...... -
