I have a protection order against my ex because he nearly killed me. I know he has been breaking into my garage and messing with my stuff (the protection order says he can't be on the property) and doing things like taking a bowel movement in the middle of the floor. I've contacted the police, but they can't prove it's him. I don't have electricity hooked up in my garage. Is there some sort or motion detection camera that runs on batteries that can be easily hidden and maybe send a notification to my phone or something when it's set off? Or something I can check on and download or switch out an SD card once a week or so? The police department told me it would need to have a date and time stamp. I looked into trail cameras, but they all seem big and have a light on them. I don't have much money, but I'm tired in living in fear. I'm in the US. Please help.

Unfortunately DNA sampling for stalking matters is well beyond the resources of many small Police Forces in the US. Even if they had the money, her ex would need to have a comparison sample on file. Skindeles have you considered something like a motion activated nanny cam? Do you have any suggestions on one?

Sorry! I didn't mean to start an argument. I spoke with the Police about DNA, but they advised it is costly for their department, would take about 6 months to get back, and that he would need to provide a sample, which he is not willing to do. I should have noted that my garage does not have electricity, so I would probably need something battery operated. I am willing to buy a prepaid plan on a mobile hot spot. I am really liking the hunting camera idea. Are they pretty discreet? I got to the point I had to go live in a safe house. I just can't sleep in my own house. I'm just too scared. A neighbor had some "dummy cameras" and he hung 3 of them up on the property. They have a red light, but they don't record anything. It's just to keep him out of the house. I don't know if it has worked or not, because I haven't been to the house since I wrote the original post. Any more suggestions on hunting type cameras? I've found a few online, but I honestly don't know what I'm looking for.
