  1. Hi guys, please excuse my ignorance and i did try and search myself but the ammount of info is bamboozeling I want to set up a fairly simple system in a new house im buying. Its out in the countryside and i want to be able to keep an eye on my yard and entrance from my mobile device. I previously bought a D-link wifi camera as a baby monitor and i liked how easy it was to use and set up, so now i just bought a D-Link DCS 7110 poe camera for my new place. Thats all i have purchased at the moment so what i need to know is what else do i need to get. I went POE so i would only be dealing with a single cable but now it seems i need a Poe Switch or an Injector? I cant figure out if i need both or just one. Can i not just buy a wireless router with a built in Switch & Injector?, because i will be buying a new on for this new property anyway. Also i would like to be able to access live footage from a mobile device, get email notification of movement and also record say 2 weeks of footage to some device other than my PC because I dont like letting it on when im away. I will need an NAS or NVR but i have no idea what the difference between these two are, and can i watch the video playback from them on a mobile device? Also what cabling will i need? CAT5 i thought but then i came across CAT6 and that confused me again. I may also add one or two more cameras to this so id like it to be upgradeable. Thanks in advance for the replies, please keep them simple

    Poe Camera setup for dummies

NVR POE switch and the cabling. As far as equipment, it depends on your budget. If you plan to get ready terminated cat6 cable, I'd go with shielded just to avoid any issues. Shielded it is. Budget wise id like to keep it under €400 for both the switch and NVR if thats feaseable. Im searching for them now and some are crazy expensive and some are dirt cheap. I just want one that will be reliable and easy to set up. I was going to do with D-link again going on my thery thta it would be easier to set up if they are all the same manufacturer but they dont seem to have much choice in my budget range.
