I am looking for a stand-alone unit for home use. I am currently using a PC based system, but it is overkill, produces allot of heat and I am sure uses more electricity.
I have found the Nuvico NVJV-8000 and the EverFocus EDSR900 models. They seem to be pretty comparable, and I am asking for opinions between the two.
I am concerned about the following:
-network connectivity - I would like to be able to access the unit via the Internet and view live and recorded video. I know the performance would not be great, but I would expect it to be comparable to the PC based Video Insight system I am using.
-I want the Internet interface to run through Internet Explorer. I don't mind it launching and running JAVA or ActiveX, but I want it to run inside the IE window - so I can run it in a tab or switch between application on the PC.
-Decent quality video - 640x480 or better at 15fps per camera x 8 cameras.
-I would prefer the ability to archive a video clip over the network, but I am not concerned with keeping backups of files remotely.
-Qualtiy of motion setup software - For example, I need to be able to define an area (pool) and set it to be less sensitive, define an area (patio ceiling fan) and set it to not record, and define other areas to be more sensitive in the same camera.
Thanks for the help.
