I did not mention an NVR, of course if it goes directly from an NVR it wont lag! I am talking about cameras that are connected to a switch and then routed to the NVR through an IP scan or CMS software.

when you say UTP, do you mean CAT 5?

I would suggest going with a HD over coax system such as AHD. The transmission distance is 1600' with coax and will be a more stable connection than IP (since it wont depend on the network). This is a good system, 1200 TVL at 960P and it includes the hard drive http://www.amazon.com/GW-Security-8-Channel-Surveillance-High-Resolution/dp/B00G3PJC1O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1432736132&sr=8-5&keywords=8+channel+AHD Ip systems, if the cables are homerun to the NVR, dont depend on the network any more than the AHD... Costco has ip systems that are good - http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-4-1080p-Cameras.product.100153164.html Or if you want to do hd over coax, they have much better values than that amazon system. http://www.costco.com/Lorex-16-Channel-HD-720p-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-12-720p-Cameras.product.100157889.html http://www.costco.com/Q-See-8-Channel-HD-720p-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-8-720p-Cameras-in-Selectable-Options.product.100148831.html actually, IP does lag (even if it is hardwired) if the internet/network lags... trust me. as far as the Lorex system, it is only 720P for the same price as the amazon system, which is 960P.. this one is even better http://www.amazon.com/Defeway-D16AHD1-12xC720AH1-2000G-Channel-System-Security/dp/B00P7RBVN6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1432737687&sr=8-3&keywords=DEFEWAY+16+channel+1080P+AHD with 1080P and the ability to add IP if you want higher resolution somewhere.

when you talk about 700 TVL and 960H you are talking about analog... digital is where you want to be! I would look into the HD over coax option such as TVI or AHD (my two favs). You can get a great AHD system on Amazon for not much money and you wont regret it! IP is a good option, but it depends on your network for performance, so it can be unstable or 'laggy' at times if you internet is acting up. As far as the 9 camera minimum, you need to go with 8 channel or 16 channel... there is no 9 channel. Check this one out... http://www.amazon.com/DEFEWAY-Realtime-Security-Surveillance-pre-installed/dp/B00P941YCK/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1432736806&sr=8-9&keywords=16+channel+1080P+AHD its an awesome 16 channel with everything you need included, this is a great system. if you want 8 channel http://www.amazon.com/DEFEWAY-Weatherproof-Security-Surveillance-Pre-installed/dp/B00P7USY6U/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1432736960&sr=8-3&keywords=DEFEWAY+8+channel+1080P+AHD these are hybrid systems.. so if you decide you want to add an IP camera somewhere, it would be compatible (just make sure its ONVIF)

first, you need to get the IP address from the camera, that is your local address and can be put in the address bar of the browser WITHIN THE NETWORK to access locally. Next, go to canyouseeme.org and get your public IP address, this is what you use OUTSIDE OF THE NETWORK. Then, you will port forward the LOCAL address (from the camera) in your router (access point) so when you are OUTSIDE of the network and go to the public IP address it will route you to the camera. It is also helpful to set up a DDNS (noip.com) so when the public IP changes you dont have to worry about keeping up with it.

Btw, it is actually just as important (maybe more) to look for DNR. DNR is digital noise reduction and it makes a huge difference in night vision.. 3D DNR is the best, and make sure it has WDR also. This will reduce the noise in the darker areas and make the night vision clearer.. it will also help make your motion detection work better (because its not being triggered by noise) and will save hard drive space. If you dont have a good DNR, your night vision will be terrible

General question about IP Cameras Cables
peaceflwr replied to OSRyx's topic in General Digital Discussion
go with cat5e (cat 5 enhanced) or cat 6... cat 5e can handle up to 1000Mbps at 100 MHz, but some people like to 'future proof' by installing cat 6, which will handle 10 Gigabit at 250 MHz... cat 6 costs more though and you'll be fine with 5e. -
General question about IP Cameras Cables
peaceflwr replied to OSRyx's topic in General Digital Discussion
the max distance for RG-59 cable is 328ft. That is also the max for POE, so for what you need you will be fine... if you want to go further than 328ft, you would need to go to fiber optics with a POE media converter which will conver the fiber to copper and will send the power over a UTP cable. BUT, you will be fine if you want the run to be less than 328ft. -
Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-IS not being seend by NVR, or router
peaceflwr replied to billkater's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
what are you using to power the cameras? did you verify it was off by covering the front of the cameras and no LEDs turning on? or is it just disconnected from the network? -

you definitely need to upgrade to HD over coax, you can use the same analog cables... but you will need to upgrade the DVR... http://www.amazon.com/ANRAN-Channels-Definition-Real-time-Surveillance/dp/B00SGMVTRW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1430947921&sr=8-5&keywords=AHD+kit this is a good system... but you CAN get better resolution that this with the new 1080P AHD http://www.amazon.com/iSmart-Outdoor-Security-1500TVL-Connection/dp/B00TAB0DRK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430948027&sr=8-1&keywords=1080P+AHD+kit this one is only 4 channel, but the resolution will be outstanding! this is a good one too http://www.amazon.com/Proxy-PBHD8087-Channel-Package-Weatherproof/dp/B00QYIM4RY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1430948027&sr=8-2&keywords=1080P+AHD+kit -
Hi so first you will need a POE switch so you wont take up too many ports on the router.. something like this http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430947257&sr=8-1&keywords=poe+switch then, you need software to manage the cameras... I have CMS software I can give you, but it is a large file and I will need you to PM me your email address. With this software, you simply install it on the computer and you can view, record, manage and remote view your cameras! I will include the user manual. this software will search your network and find the IP addresses of your cameras which are connected to your switch. You will need to make sure you get IP cameras that can be used with the serial number, I can help you find them if you need me to... this way you wont need to port forward or use DDNS

this looks like a flash issue... go to your internet settings and make sure you clear your active X settings to allow it to download
-
ugh, Im sorry! I was under the impression that you have another router connected... full explanation in PM
-
this should show as open once you have bridged the modem/router and forwarded in the stand alone router. make sure if you use 8080 to change the 80 to 8080 before you hit 'check port'
-
canyouseeme.org will give you the public IP address and check if the port you specify is open
-
did the reset take out the port forwarding? and you cant log into the dvr directly? with a hard reset your public IP address did change I'm sure... so you need to go to canyouseeme.org and see what the IP is. If your router has taken over the network, you should be able to log into it with xxx.xxx.1.1 to verify it (if it goes back to the modem then the bridge was not successful). Im not sure why you cant log into the DVR now, resetting the modem would not have effected that unless youre logging in through a browser and the IP changed. Go to your command prompt (go to the start menu and type CMD in the search and it will bring up a black command box.. type in ipconfig /all and tell me what the default gateway is (private message please) and also what the IPv4 address is.. it should be 10.0 if it is still on the modem, but if the router took over it may be a 192.168 address
-
not burned out yet! i do this for a living I am wondering... why did you forward the router? did you do all the forwarding in the modem? you actually need to forward in the ROUTER, your modem will need to be put into 'bridge mode' in order to pass the connection over to the router. Then, you open the ports in the router... that way everything is done by you and it takes the network out of the ISPs hands. The only port you will open is the one for the DVR.. nothing else! first try to forward to port 80 and if that doesnt work, try 8080. Make sure you take out the port forwarding in the modem/router and JUST forward in the router! and the key is setting the modem to bridge mode BTW, make sure you block your IPs when you make your posts, especially your public IP
-
hi send me a private message and Ill send you the basic CMS software that will be compatible with your cameras.. you will be able to use it to remote view your system.. you will need your serial number! I will also send you the user manual no port forwarding or DDNS will be required
-
ugh, that sucks! yes, unfortunately youre back at square one!! noip.com and port forward. After you forward the port to the DVR, check if its open > canyouseeme.org if it isnt, call the ISP for tier 3 tech support and explain you need the port opened. If you DO successfully port forward, try 80 first.. then you just need to put your IP/DDNS in the browser... otherwise, if you have to use another port (like 8080) then you'll put :8080. For noip.com, if you have forwarded to another port, you choose 'Port 80 Redirect' and then the port you forwarded to and the DDNS URL will have the :8080 (or whatever port you use) at the end.
-
I apologize, I misunderstood! yes, the ports will need to be manually opened by you, but the ISP may also be blocking it. They dont ALWAYS block them, but if you have verified through canyouseeme that the port is not open after you port forward, then call the ISP. As far as the router, I havent seen one yet that didnt have to be port forwarded
