  1. Currently have a LaView (Hikvision) NVR and cameras (8 ch). I need something bigger and want a more advanced NVR. I've heard Hikvision is using some new AI capabilities in some of their cameras. What is the best NVR out there that meets some of these requirements: - Min 16 channels (built-in POE) - 4k - Audio from camera's - All Cameras will be outdoors - Mobile Apps - Ideally integrate with Home Automation (SmartThings, Echo, IFTT). - Be able to use current Hikvision camera's After researching online, I just can't find "the best" solution. (I realize that is a loaded question, based on opinions).
  2. What settings do I need for this? I have continuous record set on "Storage Settings" Under Events, I have motion detection enabled and "Notify Surveillance Center" under Linkage Method. See Screenshots. When I manually got to my NVR Monitor for playback, I dont see any tags or events where motioned occurred. Only one continuous blue line which I can scroll through and find what I need (eventually) What am I missing here?
  3. I have a Hikvision (LaView) NVR. I am want to record continuously 24/7, but show motion markers on the playback screen so that I can easily find motion events instead of replaying the entire timeline I "think" something happened. Is this possible, and if so how? I can't find any documentation on how to do that.
  4. Do I just need to find a mix that fits the green pigtail connection found on most Hikvision based cameras, or do I need to run another cable or do something with the NVR?
  5. I have a Hikvision 2135F-IS camera that has the green Audio pigtails. I thought it had a built-in Mic, but apparently not. What do I need to buy to add audio recording on this camera? An Amazon search for Hikvision Microphones are coming up with nothing. The cameras is connected via POE directly to my Hikvision NVR, so I am hoping I can add a Mic that will use the existing POE power, since there are not other power sources close. Any help is much appreciated!
  6. I know this has been asked by many, and the consensus seems to be buying an Android TV Stick and running the app from there. Has anyone found another way around this, maybe by using Plex or something? Does Samsung's Smart Hub that is built into many of their Smart TVs run a tweaked version of Android? I wish I knew how to code better, because its the little things like this that make life much more convenient (and lazy)
  7. Gotch. So this probably wont work at all then. POE port and another power connector are the only connections on the camera. Any suggestions for integrated audio cams on the cheap?
  8. Thank you. I will look into the Louroe Mixer!
  9. I've searched the forum to find some of these answers and learned a lot, but I have a list of questions that require people with more experience (and intelligence for that matter) I also have a couple of posts that ask a couple of these questions, and I don't mean to flood or duplicate them, but this will help me organize my thoughts. I purchased two LaView NVR/Camera kits, each containing an 8 Channel NVR (LV-N9808C8E) with 4 cameras in each kit. So I have 8 total cameras. Here are my questions: - I've been told LaView is just a rebranded Hikvision. I didn't see info on LaView from the "Ultimate Camera Guide" sticky post, but I think I read that somewhere else. If it is Hikvision, is there better Hikvision software I can load on my NVR? If so, where can I get it? - Since I have two NVRs, can I somehow tie them together so that I can view 16 cameras via an App or on a computer? - The LaView iOS app is horrible. Is there a 3rd-party app that will allow me to view my cameras? - The Cameras I have are all White. I have dark exterior with dark soffit on a new home. Can I change the color of these? Can I paint them black? (I don't want to make them look like crap). I thought about buying some black vinyl wrap to wrap them, but is there a better way? - Is there a way to add Wifi Cameras to my NVR? (Please say yes, please say yes!) - I've asked this on another post, but I am trying to find out how to add audio with my current cameras. I know there are after-market mics, but how do I connect a Mic on all cameras and connect it to the NVR? NVR only has an Audio-In and Audio-Out port. If its easier to buy cameras with integrated mics, any suggestions? I am seeing some super high-end cameras, but want to find something affordable and compatible. For reference, here is what I purchased (times 2 of course): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16881183059 This site has already taught me so much, but I obviously have much to learn.
  10. So with 8 cameras, is there a 8 port audio jack hub of some device that captures the audio and sends it to NVR? If I put an external mic on all of them and ran them to the NVR (which only has 1x Audio-In and 1xAudio Out), how do I get each to record on their own channel? I am doing some research, but everything I find is old BNC camera setups with DVRs that are way different than mine.
  11. I have a LaView LV-KN988P84A4 that I just purchased, and I am trying to find if there are any cameras with built-in microphones, or if there is another way to get audio? I've seen some microphone cables on Amazon, but on the back of my NVR, I have one Audio In and one Audio Out. How would I Mic up all 8 cameras to this NVR?
  12. Has anyone had a old experience (or any for that matter), of changing color of your cameras? I bought an 8-pack of white cameras for a great deal, but need black. Is there some type of vinyl wrapping or something I could use?
  13. I don't know where this topic should go, and I couldn't post a new topic to classifieds. Is there anyone with a lot of Security Camera Experience in Utah that I could pay to help design and install my system? I found only two companies locally that do this, and they are both set on HD-SCI installations and dont recommend IP solutions. I feel like if they are telling me to install older infrastructure, they arent the right people to help. IP or Bust!
  14. I think I have the NVR settled (Hikvision) and now just need to choose the Cameras. (Think I am buying everything from http://www.surveillance-video.com , don't know if they are reputable, but prices seem reasonable). Since I have no experience with Security Cameras, should I choose a Bullet, Turret or Dome for my front porch? And what size lens exactly? Is 6mm going to zoom objects too close? And I assume I will put Bullet Cameras everywhere else? I definitely need good IR on each camera. Are there good cameras with Extra IR built-in, or do I need to get illumination kits? Does anyone have experience with the 180 degree cameras? Are they any good? Would like to monitor the sides of my yard with one camera. I wish someone on this forum with lots of experience lives in Utah. I would pay for their time and suggestions for purchasing and installing.
