Hi, So basically I need an idea on how to design the network of IP Camera system in a 15-floor typical building. Do I need to install a Switch and patch panel on each floor? Should I connect each switch directly to the core switch using fiber optic or can I just loop the connection to the switches in each floor? The are around 8-10 IP cameras on each floor. And the servers will be on the ground floor. All switches will be poe. Thanks in advance!

remote viewing for multiple DVRs (port forwarding)

i got it. thanx a lot! -
hi experts, Would you please guide me on this situation. I have 3 DVRs connected in a LAN(regardless of either PC based or standalone) with internet. To be able to view it in WAN(regardless of static ip or DDNS) without any special software just using a web browser i need to assign individual port and ip for each DVR right? example: DVR1 192.168.1.100 port 6000 DVR2 192.168.1.101 port 6001 DVR3 192.168.1.102 port 6002 so to view it: let say my static ip = 202.160.55.90 or DDNS = dvr.selfip.com for DVR1 it should be 202.160.55.90:6000 or dvr.selfip.com:6000 and so on.... my point here is if my customer is not a techy person and he does not want to put any number(such as port) and he just want to type a URL that is easy to memorize(that's why internet is using DNS server). since we can create multiple account in DDNS like dyndns, is it possible to use a DDNS that has the purpose like port forwarding? another thing, each DVR has its own DDNS configuration. please tell me if its possible or if there's any other method that has the same purpose of what i need? without using special software like CMS thing. im also a newbie here. and i also would like to know if i can assign same IP in all these 3 DVRs and have different ports for port forwading. thanx a lot in advance.

Forwarding ports 5000 and 5001 for PROLiNK H9200 for DVR
bibox replied to dee-u's topic in Computers/Networking
according to dee-u's router configuration, all of his DVR are assigned in one same LAN IP but different ports. but no one correct/notice his configuration regarding on the same LAN IP in different ports. so i was confused if this is possible since i haven't tried that. but im sure for a pc a notification will appear if you have conflicting ip's -

will it work if you set the same LAN ip for each different DVR? eventhough you have a correct DDNS/Static IP setting and correct port forwarding? -
i need an advise for the overview of the project. there are 10 sites. each site has a local monitoring/control. and for all of the sites there is a site to be the Main monitoring/control and recording in realtime for all of the sites. all are IP cameras and Fiber optics is the connectivity inside each sites. and the connectivity for all sites is internet. because the distances between each sites can reached more or less 80Km. please anyone can give comments or advise. what software or NVR i could use and the best for this type of project? and what equipments are neccessary? this is my first time to do fiber optic surveillance system

Fiber? single or multimode? - singlemode connector types? ST or SC? - dont know yet, please advise converting fiber to network? - please advise how many RJ45 slots do you need? - some cameras can be used in one converter, around 4-8 or does a giga switch better fit? - no need for Giga switch IP cameras? - yes, all are IP cameras MPEG4? MJPEG? - which is the best for network viewing and recording realtime 1megaP or 3 megaP? again, will the software record a 3 MegaP or just a 640x480? - please advise an NVR/Software to be viewed in central control/monitoring system with 60" Plasme TV in otherwords, if you purchase a MegaP camera and can only record in 640x480 you just wasted your money - thanks for advising for the overview of the projects. there are 10 site. each site has a local monitoring/control. and for all of the sites there is a site to be the Main monitoring/control and recording in realtime for all of the sites. all are IP cameras and Fiber optics is the connectivity inside each sites. and the connectivity for all sites is internet. because the distances between each sites can reached more or less 80Km. please anyone can give comments or advise.
