Help with A DVR CARD -= KMC =-
baywatch replied to magicray's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Rory You can either get Geovision in a Geo box with everything marked up with Geovision, or they will supply it in an OEM kit that comes in a white box & has nothing on the manual. You can then build your system, change the interface slightly & add your own name to the product just like as Sentry360 said. -
Opinion on 4 Eyes Pro
baywatch replied to sunnyny's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Got a , on the end of your hyperlink. We have used the 4 eyes pro & had lots of problems with the earlier versions, have had a later version and we are still testing it. Seems stable & remote seems o.k Always liked the image quality, main problems we had with all the Avermedia was remote monitoring would never work reliably even the Linux version. Some nice touches on the system especially the search features. Will let you know how the test goes. -
Help with A DVR CARD -= KMC =-
baywatch replied to magicray's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Rory, if you think the Geo card is a counterfeit why not go to the Geovision site & look at http://www.geovision.com.tw/002/en/news_updatesonpiracy.htm I don't know if it will be of any use to you but its worth a look. -
Thanks for the replies folks. Apparently the manager of our computer shop knew about it. You learn something new every day. Thanks for the links.

This struck me as rather odd. I had a new flier from one of my suppliers today which was advertising Hyundai 42, 50 & 60 inch plasma screens at quite good prices. They give no model numbers but have this announcement boldly accross the page. ALL HYUNDAI LCD TVs AND PLASMAS ARE CCTV FREINDLY. tHEY ARE DESIGNED SO THE SCREEN IMAGE MOVES SLIGHTLY EVERY FEW HOURS TO PREVENT IMAGE BURN. Anybody heard about this system sounds wierd? Makes you tempted to get one & run it 24/7 just to see what happens, as if it burns they must replace it.

We use a device called a VGA extender, it consists of a local unit (which will support 2 monitors) and a remote unit (which will again support 2 monitors) It can extend the display up to 150 metres using CAT5 cable. These are active units that come with a psu each. They support video up to 1024 x 768 and there is a version with or without audio. The remote unit has a gain control with 4 settings depenant on the cable length. Costs about £60.00 We use these regularly & they work very well.

I have 2 seperate businesses, cctv installation & computer retail. Obviously in this day and age the 2 businesses go together. I am a wireman but obviously it is to my benefit to use the computer expertise from the computer business. The 2 businesses can also feed off each other in areas such as schools, local authorities & commercial customers.

We install between 150 to 200 Geovision systems a year, we also use stand alone dvrs. While the Geo system is not perfect, it has lots of very poor gui points for instance, we find it is the only system that we have tried that has the facilities that most of our customers need. If the pc is the right spec & built correctly then it should be stable. We were always trying different cards but have yet to find such a stable & versatile one. I can only speak as I find.

I agree with cctvinstaller on a lot of his points, Geo is good but one of the problems with Geo is that different versions don't like being viewed remotely with the same version of Multiview. This can be a considerable problem when you have a customer with multiple sites already and they have a new system. Messages such as invalid version start appearing. I have 1 customer with more than 10 systems & we've got to keep supplying him with the older software or upgrade all his existing systems. Anybody found a way round this?

Corporate Geovision installations
baywatch replied to CCTVINSTALLER's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
We are currently installing a 48 camera system in a large food processing plant using 3 x 16 camera systems in rack mounted cases with rack mounted power supplies & a kvm switch to switch computers. We have had a hotel running with a similar 48 camera system for over 2 years now. -
The Geo Multiview will let you view multiple sites at the same time up to 16. We have a Burger franchisee who regularly has his 15 restaurant counters up on his home PC. The Centre software is more for manned remote monitoring & you can have multiple sites, up to 24 cameras, and cameras can be set to only display when they see movement.

Anyone play with one of these B/W HiRes/Low Lux bullets?
baywatch replied to bryan1656's topic in Security Cameras
Most B/W Exview cameras are advertised at 0.003 Lux. I think someone just might have added another 0 to their advert? Please PM price & model No, if you want to, & I'll compare the spec with the ones we have used. -
The guy does not want to record. If there is local power then he can just run RG59 and 4 core alarm cable for the telemetry. P.S. A Lilin dome will work with Geovision.
-
I don't think he wants to record the images. The lilin domes & controller are by the same manufacturer & reasonably cheap. He wants to use 4 monitors, so nothing else is needed. You could use any monitors or lilin monitors.
-
If the cameras are going on the batching plant don't they have mains electric power there that you could use?
-
Hi We would use Merit Lilin Domes which are available with 17, 22 or 25 x Zoom (25x = day night). You can use these with 1 x controller/joystick and set up preset positions that can be accessed by a touch of a button. They can also be sent on preset tours. Just connect each camera up to a 14 or 15 inch monitor. Just a thought, these cameras are also available with IP facilities for only a little more money which would help future proof the installation.

Biometrics are an area that I would like to know more about, especially concerning pupil registration & computer log in for schools. I guess this comes under "access control"

Like the others replied, it depends on the application & budget, get all the help you can before you decide. What type of event do you need to search for?
-
My vote to.
-
If you want to look at an event (rubbish dumped - vehicle moved etc) then the Geovision system is really fast.

Pelco Spectra III and KBD4000
baywatch replied to homer3's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Silly question maybe, but have you looked at http://www.geovision.com.tw/002/en/supports-faq-01.asp# -
What make of dome are you using, we use Lilin with no problem. Seriously if your make is in the dropdown list then Geo should make an effort to support it.
-
Pretty funny, he was probably using software like Gotchanow with a standard computer webcam.
-
We use one made by Grand Tech from Taiwan called Watchguard, Its usb 1.1 It has all the features for a cheap system including remote viewing, it costs about £45.00 (+P/P) + VAT. If you are only using a Micromarc camera you hardly need to spend much on capture devices.
-
Hi If you only want to connect 1 x camera then you can get a usb capture device complete with software for motion detection etc. We use them & they work fine for a basic system.
