If you disable the built in I.R and add another IR you should cure the problem as the white out is the IR reflecting back off the web.

Its not the lens that needs adjusting, usually there is a spring loaded seal between the lens & the leds and if this is not a really good fit you will get problems.

I remember seeing a device in a catalogue that cosisted of a unit that fitted on each end of an rg59 cable to allow 2 x cameras to send their images down the 1 cable. I can't find the item now that I need it, anyone remember it. I know it multiplexes the image and that the frame rate will be lower, but its only for an overflow car park. There is currently 1 camera on a pole with 240 volts, we want to add another camera without cutting through the concrete to run another coax. Thanks for your input in advance

Have now installed the extra camera using the SNT Duolink11. Expensive but worked instantly and very good quality, would have cost us double to run a new cable. Thanks for the advice.

We use Merit lilin speed domes with Geo regularly. There is one glitch with the remote use. If you stop a tour to control the camera then its not possible to start the tour remotely only locally. We have informed Geo of this with no result.

PC/DVR Advice Please!
baywatch replied to dsr_80's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
We build, install & sell around 200 Geovision systems a year & many are used for multiple remote monitoring (Burgerking etc). They make 6 camera cards. if you need computer specs or advice, go to our computer website http://www.uplandscomputers.co.uk where you will find the phone number. Ask for my partner (Saleem) and he will try to advise you. -
One of the problems with Megapixel cameras (in a normal system) is the recording resolution. What do you intend recording them onto?

Anyone using Avermedia cards& software
baywatch posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Is there anyone using Avermedia cards on a regular basis and how are you finding them? We used to use them but had networking difficulties with them. We might start using them again if there are good reports. The image quality was superb. -
People try to carjack Rovers were you live?

There is a company in Australia who manufacture an interview system, maybe you can get some information from them. http://www.joincc.com.au/html/july05.html -
Yes Rory those are retail prices. Is it O.K. to post these types of links or is it better not to? I have nothing to do with this company other than I purchase some products off them.

We have used many of these cameras and they do work great for lower budget jobs. http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/colour_sony_ir.htm They have a varifocal version and seem reliable. Biggest problem is the old spider issue.

Anyone using Avermedia cards& software
baywatch replied to baywatch's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
We started using Avermedia about 4 to 5 years ago. We started using their 16 camera Linux based units which we prchased as stand alone recorders. These gave no problems for long periods. We then had some of the 1st Eyes Pro cards running on Windows. Again they run o.k. for a fairly long period. We also had a complete Eyes Pro unit off them which gave problems from day 1 because of poor build quality. We arranged a visit when their technical guy was going to give tuition to my biggest customer (they had 4 x Avers already)& demonstrate the facilities to the managers & directors. When he arrived he decided to upgrade the unit to the latest software at which point he couldn't get anything working and ended up having to take the machine away in front of the customer. On another occasion a different techy came down to assist us on networking, insisted we purchase some different components which we did, he left the customers premises & 30 minutes later everything locked up. The biggest problem we had was that systems would run for about 6 weeks (long enough for us to install several) before they started crashing continually. We had to replace all the cards & software with Geovision & currently install these about 100 to 150 a year. Avermedia upgraded all the cards & software for us last year but I don't want to get burned again. I got the impression when I dealt with them directly that they were a multimedia business trying out security. -
Hotel Install.. Need LONG camera wall mounts.
baywatch replied to kandcorp's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
We use local fabricators like you intend to use with no problem. Make sure you have a triangular brace back to the wall as its amazing how much the wind can make them shake if not braced properly. -
As a lot of the posters here state every case is different, we have taken some good contracts over (chains like Burgerking) in our area by not being to quick to charge for small things. Sometimes the manager who needs to burn to CD is not the person who was trained etc. Its a fine line though as they can end up expecting you to do loads for free. Swings & roundabouts

From experience we stay well away from clocks. Somebody must always set the time to their watch, whether the watch is correct or not, they can't help it. A Memocam unit is the same size as a PIR. You can wire it to a monitor if you desire or it records images onto a SD card which you take away & read on a computer.
-
Memocam can be really effective in the right environment & they have amegapixel version now.

The Iomniscient system is very a professional system, we set it up to be evaluated by the local police who were impressed. Won the top award at Ifsec last year, I believe.

Thanks guys, I have found the company (SNT Group) you posted about in the U.K. and will check it out. Thanksagain, I will let you know how I get on.

Yes agree with the others, very useful site.

It is so sad when the poor relatives are given false news like that. I watched them celebrating on the early news before I went to work & then heard the grim reality later on the radio. Your heart really goes out to them.
