Rapidos Wave series DVR cards Pro Version 16 Ch
baywatch posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi Guys, anyone heard of these or tried these cards, I've been offered one to test. Think their made by Tranwo Technologies Corp. Thanks -
Hi Gaza I would suggest that you look for a small local installer for such a small job, you should be able to find one in the Yellow pages (under closed circuit tv or cctv) If you know a local electrician or feel confident of fitting this yourself look at www.rfconcepts.co.uk for good prices & advice. Remember if you want the Police to use your images you will needa Time/Date stamp on the video. If you want details of a plug & play 1 camera system please PM me.
-
Which country are you in? If in the U.K. what area?
-
Like Rory advised, a basic Geovision system will do what you want. If you go to www.rfconcepts.co.uk you can get everything you will need at reasonable prices (I have no intrerest in that business). If you need advise on the camera to use, what card to use etc e-mail or phone them up. We also have a computer shop so if you need anything i.e. kvm switch we can advise on these. We are across the Bristol channel in Wales.

All the small arms in the world didn't stop the Oklahoma bomber.
-
They seem to be taking this very seriously & think it might be the same type of thing as the 1st bombing but that the explosive (home made) might have deteriorated & so not worked. I really hope they have got good images on the station & bus cctv systems so they can get these bastards fast.

Really smart unit. Do you use cameras on masts to demo it?
-
Don't advise wireless unless you can't avoid it, is it a domestic installation? If the overhead route is high enough & you have power at the shed, it should be O.K. to fly coax cable as long as its supported by a tension wire. I assume its not that high security that would make it worth somebody throwing a rope over it to bring it down.

The Memocam is mainly used to pick up on movement in what should be empty rooms. If you want to monitor staff think about a dvr walkman like the Archos (see earlier posts) with a pinhole camera. This has the advantage that you can use the Archos for other things (like recording dvds or music etc) when not using it for surveilance.

Waterproof Connectors
baywatch replied to securitymonster's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Self amalgamating tape, used correctly will be totally waterproof. Easiest & sometimes most practical for maintainance is Rory's method. -
We use the Memocam in certain situations, but it is not regular cctv. We use it when people are going into things to steal e.g. we put one in a Coke vending machine (difficult to cover in factory & engineers had made their own keys), only recorded when somebody opened the machine & powered from the machine, very successful. Don't forget with any system you need power. Stick to normal cctv for domestic use as already advised.

We use a custom camera that looks like a spyhole from the outside. You can get them in mono or colour & they have a fisheye lens. I will try to post an image of one but I'm not sure how.
-
You can now get camera housings with built in I.R. you could put your bullet in one of these. What we tend to do (if your boss wants the big camera as a deterent) is put up a dummy in a housing & try to conceal the bullet to cover the area required & normally it will catch anyone who attacks the dummy.
-
Only way to avoid these problems is to test each unit before leaving the workshop. We have had similar problems & I now insist that all our systems are run on our camera test rig with all their own pigtails, keyboard, mouse, monitor, kvm etc and be tested over the network/Internet etc. In the long run it saves many many hours/miles and confusion.

ALL BRITISH POSTERS PLEASE REPORT IN!
baywatch replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
I read yesterday that the cctv in the bus that was bombed was not working & hadn't worked since early June! I know they have a very large intergrated digital system in the underground, (6000 cameras +) so I hope that was in service last Thursday. -
My home system........Am I on the right track?
baywatch replied to vic_salve's topic in System Design
If you run Cat5 to the cameras then (with baluns) you can use it for up to 4 cameras or run 3 cameras & ptz control or 1 camera & power for a short run. -

Nothing I've heard of in Manchester, Birmingham was a false alarm. No need to worry Rory, from what you have posted about crime where you live, your brother is safer over here. Thanks to all for their thoughts. -

Nothing happened here in Wales, but my partners brother had just left the tube station in London & heard the blast. It is so frightening to think of a bomb going off in a tube train 100 ft down in a tunnel. Already had a phone call to call on one of our customers (train repair yard) to look at upgrading his old system. -
We are trying this camera out as we have a few schools/colleges looking for reasonably priced IP cameras. Software seems O.K. haven't tested the detection or anything else yet. Anyone have any experience of them. http://uplandscomputers.no-ip.com:9994 username = uplands password = computers btw nice July 4th pic in multiview from Elizabethtown NC camera 2

Agree with vst_man totaly, if he has all his own equipment point him in the way of something like Gotcha. www.gotchanow.com Hopefully he will remember your help when hw wants a proper system. -
O.K. Thanks for the day off.

Ok so I have had a few drinks but what about this for a idea
baywatch replied to cctv_down_under's topic in General Digital Discussion
Someof the best ideas come after a few drinks! -
There are a few ways. 1 using a VGA down cat5 extrender, you can run 2 x monitors local & 2 x monitors remote all vga. 2 using a TV out box such as the Avermedia to send the picture to a normal cctv monitor. 3 Long vga cable o.k. if its all in false ceiling etc but can be a pig to runtogether with a 2 monitor box. These are all simple systems that give reasonable images on monitor.
