  1. So I currently have installed a Lorex 1080p 4 camera system on my house. I can access the cams and NVR through my MAC using the FLIR program and also on my iphone. I want to move to a better system but want to know that there is MAC compatible software out there to run this. I currently have the following to swap out the LOREX system with..... HIKVISION DS-7608NI-E2/8P 8CH PoE NVR Network Video Recorder 3TB Hard Drive 4 Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I Outdoor HD 3MP IP Bullet Security Camera I want to be able to view these remotely through my phone, as well as access footage from my home MAC computer. Is there software that someone makes to streamline this process?? Thanks for all the help. I don't know where to start to look for software, even if I have to pay for it to be able to monitor my home cameras.
  2. Good morning everyone, I am a first time poster to this forum and have spent the last couple of weeks browsing over the posts and searching. I have determined that many people on here are not happy with the Lorex systems, and I was about to purchase the LNR182C4W, which my local BJ's has on sale for $699. Also you can get it direct from lorex for 799-10% promo and free shipping right now, so $719 OTD. This specific Lorex was 4 camera, 8 channel POE, 2TB, 1080p In any case I have noticed that many of you recommend the Hikvision cameras and NVR. Does anyone have a specific list with part numbers for everything I will need to install a 4 camera system with a recording device, and the ability to monitor the cameras from my smartphone or tablet. (This is not absolutely necessary but would be nice). For reference, I want to install 4 outdoor cameras with decent/good nightvision to cover my driveway, yard and street. I don't need the best, but would like to buy a decent quality system. Thank you all in advance for your help! This is what I was looking at... 4x Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I Outdoor HD 3MP IP Bullet Security Camera 4mm - $90/ea 4x Night Owl, LLC CAB-60POE Network Video Recorder Power Over Ethernet PoE Extension Cable (White) - $20/ea 1x Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P 8 Channel NVR with 4 Channel POE Ports -$369-$469 SO I think I have the correct cameras but I am not quite understanding what recording device I will need or how much storage the NVR I chose has if any?? Can someone guide me to the correct part numbers and accessories I will need to put in the complete system. Also I noticed people using an injector adapter and POE adapter but am not sure if I need these components or if I just run the camera cables to the NVR itself??? I was drawn to the Lorex because it seemed to have everything I needed out of the box but want to make sure I am buying some decent quality components. Thanks again.
