Installed cameras....
5 Panasonic IP/POE cameras; including one SC-384 1.3 MP PTZ installed in a climate control dome.
1 Wirepath WPS300 IP/POE
16 port / 8 Port POE switch .
Ethernet to SC384 is supplied via shielded Cat6 in underground Sched. 40 conduit.
Power to dome is via 24 volt power supply / shielded 18/2 also run in said conduit.
Here is the situation. One of the 3 access points on the network "went bad"... network crashed. Located problem, removed access point and installed replacement. Network happy again. Except when the network came back up the SC384 would not produce an image.
This is a vacation home and the occupants were not at home when problem occurred so timeline is imprecise.... Information on the network failure and other possibly related incidents comes from the property manager who was on site and online (via wireless network) when network crashed. In the utility room where the network and power exit the home to the conduit a new water treatment system was being installed. Apparently some moisture/water hit the power strip that houses the 24 volt dome PS....
When I arrived 36 hours after report of network failure, the power supply LED indicator light was on... checked the power supply output and found it was only putting out 12 volts and when unplugged it was decidedly damp on surface surround the plugs! After restoring network function I checked the camera itself. Unplugged network feed and tested the network feed to camera... tested OK. Plugged network feed back into camera and camera panned etc... as is normal when first powered up. HMMM.. Quitting time...
Came back the next day... thinking maybe the POE capacity of the switch had been exceeded when we added the WPS300 in the garage the week before the network problem occurred, I unplugged the WPS300 and power cycled the SC384.... still no picture. Checked the power supply to the dome again and now the green power LED is gone and the PS is dead..... Not surprising given water exposure... but related to camera failure??
Headed up there today to do a more thorough troubleshoot....
