Some noob questions regarding LAN security, after installing
topchips replied to thedoc46's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi Best thing to do is to have a strong username and password on all your devices, are you connecting to your cams remotely? meaning when your away from the house? and how? Via dyndns,p2p or puplic ip,? the Samsung smart cams must have a UPNP (Universal Plug and Play) function on them that configures your router for you, if you don't want a device to do that you can disable your UPNP setting in your router and just do the configuration manually hope this helps Regards -

What are other options if HDD in DVR stops functioning ?
topchips replied to GPD's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi It can be your PSU for your DVR not pushing enough amps to power the DVR and HDD, it can also be a short/fault on your HDD causing the DVR not to boot up as most DVR's do a self test before booting up, if there is a problem it wont boot up, try testing or replacing the HDD, also try another PSU with same voltage and with same or higher ampage if you replace the HDD the DVR should format it itself to the correct setting hope this helps Regards -
Hi Did your brother-in-law have a app or software running on one of his devices (ie: PC,Laptop,Tablet) that connects to the DVR? are the parameters change to the correct setting namely the Ip address, username and password, you can also check your firewall setting on your router, first establish connectivity on that Ip address by doing a PING test then check that the username and password is correct, the DVR will lock after 3 failed login attempts , just restart the DVR and try again, getting a invalid password error has nothing to do with your network connectivity hope this helps Regards

Hi It can be the HDD thats faulty or the PSU for the DVR not pushing enough amps, you can test your HDD with HD tune pro or try using another PSU with same or higher ampage regards

Need help with remote viewing (switch>router) please
topchips replied to Wizz's topic in Computers/Networking
Hi Wizz First network all the devices together and make sure there is communication, the light that's not indicating on the non-poe port means there is no communication or the led is broken most likely the cable or connector, once you have communication you will need to configure your remote setup: What camera have you got? if the cam has p2p or build in DYNDNS should be easy to setup, otherwise you will have to register a DYN and do the port forwarding on the router -
Hi All you have to do is change your http or server port on the other dvr, how are you connecting to the dvr? via cms software or browser? eg if your one dvrs server/utp port is 37777 make the other one 37779 and when connecting via you static or dyn use the corresponding port

Are the Cams Dahua or other brand?, You will only be able to change the cams name if they are also Dahua cameras, under ONVIF protocol you don't get all the communications to the cameras like you would with the same brand cams, also if your cam is not ONVIF compliant it wont connect to the Dahua NVR, you could always check to see if there is a ONVIF firmware upgrade for that camera.

What are the best Baluns to use HD-CVI 1080p
topchips replied to Patzfan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
SunnyKim Well we only sell Siamese ( we call Poweraxial ), and cat5, it works out almost the same if you compare the price of BNC (R2.49) and the price of a Balun (R22.00) eg: 100m powerax with 2x BNC works out R408,79 and 100m cat5 with 2x balun is R422,94 that's of-course in South Africa don't know what your pricing is, However you can put 2 cameras on one length CAT5 so will work out in the end Cheaper, But I would still recommend Powerax all the time, less to no interference, I should mention we only use solid copper core high quality cables. -
What are the best Baluns to use HD-CVI 1080p
topchips replied to Patzfan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
What was the distance on your longest run? Iv tested HDCVI on 300m cat5 e no issues, ground loop isolators also work on HDCVI, was using PV-207 balun http://lsvt.com.cn/pro_view.asp?Shop_ID=1209 works extremely well, the quality of your cat5 is very important and can cause the interference. -
