Possible hardware conflicts on a GV 1480 PCI-E -- any ideas?
sinbad replied to poker_fish's topic in Geovision
did u figured out the reasons you getting the BSOD ? I always disable the auto reboot option in the event of BSOD to see what the problem, as hard as it is to figure MS 000000000xe8 crap.... (Right click My Computer>Properties>Advanced> look down for 'Startup and recovery' , click Setting> uncheck the box 'Automatically restart' I assume both systems have identical hardware, and GV could be the reason for the crashes, but u should confirm its not memory issues or other incompitable hardware first. Also, check the even log for any system errors. sometimes it can be something really stupid cause way too big deal. My first bet is that ur RAM is not for your MOBO, but I didnt even checked from ur list, just my guess. Good luck -
what do u need to smoke to WANT to have your name next to windows time? is this post for real?

try different settings for the user name, as such: you@domain.com you+domain.com you%domain.com also, some ISP blocks outgoing emails from your server and you'll need to use a workaround such as using their own SMTP address.

so no one uses GV keyboard+joystick?

If GV makes a version that will work on Unix I'm tattooing my ass with their ugly logo!

no bro, real time, local machine. system is working fine for months 24/7, then suddenly I get that. a reboot solves it all. but I cant tell my client 'just reboot' when it happens system worked fine for 16 months now without any issues.

Hi all, I have a system where I got 3 times already for no apparent reason "Video Lost" on all 16 Channels. Its a GV 1480 v8.0 and I cant see anything in Windows log or GV system log any tips on what causing this? The harddrive is full, running on 2.5GB free space always, on separate disk from the OS and GV software. If I restart the program they all come back to normal recording. Anyone have any idea what can be the reason?

If you simply need to view real time from remote location the GV800 is all you need. The viewing speed has more to do with your network bandwidth, However, to set it up, you will need to RTFM.... and don't know to which more expensive cards you referring, GV is the best and AFAIK the most expensive card out there.

I don't know about that. I never tried it honestly maybe someone else can chime in about that.
-
you need "rory" for that. He's the coder AFAIK and used to have it on his site. I don't see the link anymore on his site but contact him and try.

If you have PTZ mapping correct and the PTZ is allowed over webcam you should see the controller icon on the right hand side. if you see it click on it and then switch it to On.

CameraGenius did u find a way to do that? I'm trying to do the same on a GV1480

I'm looking for exactly the same. please share your finding when you have any promise to do the same.

Hi guys/gals, does anyone knows of a service which will allow the storage of the recorded footage from a DVR on a remote server? The idea is to keep the recording off site, without having to manage another box elsewhere.

Hi all, I was wondering how exactly I can wire 2 POS Data capture boxes to the same box. The instructions are clear about it but it looks like its doable by daisy chaining the boxes. I have one serial port on the expected motherboard and would like to save on the additional com box if possible. can anyone share his experience?

I never tried the E version yet. I'm familiar with the standard version and always used it so far. Guess next contract I'll give it a try. Do you like it? is it working the with same results?

Hi all, I have an install we did where suddenly 2 remote cameras stopped working. I tested and there is power on both cameras, but no video output on the monitor. everything used to work fine and then suddenly stopped working. On the recording I can't find any reason why it stopped recording at that time. is there a tester out there that can tell me how far down the cable run the problem is? and also, any ideas what can it be?
-
spoke with GV support, the answer is that I can't do it. you need to have a separate COM input for each POS. next time I'll get the GV I/O box...

thanks people for the replies. really appreciate this. the runs are ~450 both, I used the Nuvico CV and they are powered from an Altronix ALTV2416 (24VAC) @ first I was thinking someone dig and splice my wire (direct burial...) but when we checked for power on the cameras we had proper current. I already tried the BNC. first thing to blame you know, but it wasn't it. I located on the recording exactly the time it happens but no reason was captured anyhow, does anyone know where to get the MicroScanner² Cable Verifier for a good price. seems like I need one of them....badly

thanks for the scanning. I just saw today in the manual about that, just the pages you scanned. That's seems much nicer 16CH hardware compression. I have to test it now
