Forestarius did you try it yourself? thats the first time I hear this is doable to stack GV cards..
-
When I export to file an event from the log the export takes forever even if it's very short video. If I compare this to the speed of saving to file from Geovision the avermedia is like X10 slower. Is this as good as it gets or is there a faster way to export?

that looks like a decent system to me. I'll only replace the RAM to crucial where you buy the PC from? Newegg? The Hybird only means youll be abl;e to connect IP cameras to the system and not only analog cameras.AFAIK no performance improvment, but people here knows better than me check this for H264 details. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264 I usually still set GV systems on MPEG4 and not H264 unless I expect many remote connections to the system than H264 is lighter on the network. I assume in your application you should stay on MPEG4 too. but these all are matter of personal pref. IMHO, Wait till you'll get the system, then go to Video Attribute > Advanced and you can play with the options. you can see the FPS you should expect and hard drive usage. Hope you'll like it, you choose the best card out there!

I'm a US installer, for support, GV disappoint me big time everytime I had any issues. their support simply suck from my experience. Avermedia on the other hand always were very fast with their support, they are not good like Aiphone, but they 200 times better than GV. I always had my support tickets answered withing same day I posted them. As for the product, personally I think GV is better. I come from IT background and love the endless features. the more menus/options the more I like the program Avermedia is also great and solid. they let you stack 2 cards in the same machine and we have done several 32 cams system with aver. GV stuck with 16 cams on same rig. Avermedia is also much more user friendly, most my customers like it better than GV. the networking is also easier since you only need a single port open and GV requires at least 5-6 open ports. Aver is also a bit cheaper than GV where I buy from. hope this helps.

Differences between Samsung Techwin and Samsung GVI
sinbad replied to alejandroto2001's topic in General Digital Discussion
it calls politics. sorta like GMC and Chevy. same **** different name. -
GV for the DVR, Samsung GVI for the indoor domes. great picture, great view! outdoor cams personally I like the Samsung Techwin SDC-415NA, in your case fitted with Fuji 5-50mm so you can play with it for your liking. million $ question, whats your budget?

nice one 501 even very nice now all we need is to be able to stock GV cards and we have a winner

Splitting RS-232 to control two different PTZ protocols
sinbad replied to anchorjoe's topic in Geovision
thats some sad news. anyway there is also PCI expansions cards that will let you add 2or even 4 serial connectors. I used it once when I had a mobo without serial on it and it worked good with GV. I always try to stay away from USB, have reliability issues with it. -
I think that your best bet will be to divided them to the 2 main machines, and have the other 3 machines viewing the PTZs through the control management.
-
maybe Andy can drop a message for us all
-
501 I think they mean scanning with quad view. pageUp/Down just switch cams in standard view to me. scan always brings me back to single view.
-
my favorite: Everfocus EPTZ3000 worth every $
-
hook them all to the same machine. GV never goes down. get a controller too. worth the $500.
-
the day GV will support iPhone I'll get myself one. now that's a good reason to spend $500
-
the only down side is GV for us is the too many ports that needs to be open. IIRC we managed to narrow it for 5 ports total for the really needed features. anyhow, a netgear router is on the shopping list of each install we do for easy ports management. maybe give Avermedia a try. they are much more user friendly IMHO, same video quality and a signle port to open. but no one beats GV with features.

I tried a couple china made crap, both disappointed me. I was able to see the camera direction but for final focusing the PC LCD was 200 times better. does any manf. out there makes a small LCD that worth the $$$? I'll pay for a pelco one if it actually do what I need
