Cheap digital 1080P works better then even most expensive old school analog ones with digital zoom you can get in really close see lot of detail.

Max is 300 feet for Ethernet the costco system cameras don't have varifocal lens so not sure if you need that depends on your distance you need. Do you need to see it at night?

I don't know anything about swan but my family ran a pawn shop for 37 years. They never had an armed robbery possibly because they had a gate which customers had to be let though by remote control, but other pawn shops did get robbed. I remember one summer 1990's a criminal gang had been robbing pawn shops rushing the store with AK-47 Rifles in the area they would rough up the employees until they produced the backup VCR tape after they removed the primary recorder tape. After that experience I always setup a 3rd recording system in the store. My suggestion would be not to go cheap with a swan system while they do work well I would suggest spending little more money and getting some cameras that have SDmicro cards slots built in you can insert cards in each camera will save it's own video larger cards can be bought cheap 128gb last a few months before it rolls over. This would be my 2nd backup system I would have a primary onsite DVR that backs up to an off-sight server then the camera cards would be the 3rd backup. Good varifocal lens camera with the sdcard start around $300 each your system would be around 2-3k when done if you want to do it correctly. Jewelry store like pawn shops are a magnet for theft. Our shop got broken into about 40 times once a truck backed into the wall of the building for the first 3 years we were open our alarm went off every weekend in the summer. We even caught the store owner next to our store climbing though the attic at night from his store he got tangled in the razor wire I put up there. The worst theft we ever had was my cousin worked there after my aunt twisted my mom's arm about giving him a job he got us for about 60k. The camera system helped convict him and other employees that stole from us. When our alarm went off the police always knew there was going to be action and they showed up in about 5 minutes.

Did you check the cable to see if it is shorted with an ohm meter? I have shorted my cable my geovision card never blew a fuse I didn't even know it had fuses. I'm assuming your powering your camera by a separate 24v transformer with separate wires or does your card have power output. My card does not I have the GV800 I'm going to buy some trendnet video encoders and get rid of the card go all IP.

I'm using sighthound with Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I. I'm not having any issues with false positives. I set it to recognize people and to ignore 70 pixels of movement. I go for days without any false positives I'm also using extra IR LED lights. I have found sighthound to be a great product for $250 it is far better then others I have seen because of it's IFTTT programming. You can make it do almost anything lots of home automation you can tie it into.

Here is the camera I have for LP capture it has a very fast shutter speed I wanted to buy an IP one but they are out of my price range the Analog cameras are now coming down in price paid about $350 for this one with the big lens. I'm using Hikvision $100 bullet cameras DS-2CD2032-I they work great easy to setup and the video is 1080P at 30FPS. Hikvision also sells domes along with better cameras also which start around $350 each have an SDslot for saving the video it's an easy way of doing it no DVR required. Microsd cards are cheap with 64GB cards take a long time to get full maybe a month or 2. You just pull the video by accessing the camera by IP address. The $100 model does not have the SD card you have to use software or a DVR for that. I'm using Sighthound software $250. It will recognize a person and send you the video. Those cameras can be powered over the Ethernet your switch can power the camera just need one that supplies 802.3AF, or you can use a power injector plugs inline after your switch lots of those on the internet. I have never used swan looks like they could work as most 1080P cameras have no problem in the day time it's the night is where things get to be an issue with a cheap camera. I have had no problems at night.

HI, My name is Kelly been having some theft in my neighborhood I have a few cameras setup I'm working to install more. I'm using sighthound pro software for DVR I have a mixture of hikvision and geovision. I'm planning on installing a Veilux VSSC-68CDNR-90 license plate camera haven't installed that yet it's the only one I have which ins't an IP camera. I'm testing out some IR lights last night I picked up some CM vision 198 LED spot lights found that they are way too much for my property more IR isn't always better. I should have done more research but that's okay Amazon has good return policy.
