    Wireless solutions

A wireless bridge with video encoders and servers will do the job to a ANPR setup. [at least 54Mb and 5ghz A radios] if you have LOS wireless IP cameras ? this is a 'grown-ups' forum
  2. the CMOS based Mobotix cameras can handle this with ease.
  3. your theory only goes so far because they will see the illuminator mounted during the day? A motion detection system might miss vital footage as the camera adjusts I have the same problem with sanyo-DN cameras soon as a spotlight lights up the the IR filter takes 1-2 seconds to adjust and the person has walked past missing the shot. I like the idea of semi covert, it catches dumb criminals makes smart ones think twice and the general public dont notice it.
  4. If you want to catch the person you will have to ID them, you will need HI-res and good night capability or lighting. the spy shop rubbish will only do half the job. You will have to work out the choke points and placements to get a good head shot. [no not 50cal] A SVAT PI1000 mounted at head height near the main door might do the business. Most thieves are stupid ! tho you will need to test it on yourself at day/night etc till you have a good picture. my 2c
  5. yep Rayled, [white LEDs nar to $$$$$ buy floods] get more power than you need, they have a variable power setting. I sell them and install them and are really happy so far ! I agree the Extreme gear is good also [EX12 is good but only for small jobs 10m or so] Remember IR is an art and you have to have the right camera, lens and shutter speed to get a good image. for example > I have a Rayled 50, sanyo DN VCC4594p camera and 50mm lens picking off people at 30 foot away in darkness. the focus is touchy but head and shoulder pics good enough to ID. >it took lots of fine tuning. A Pelco spectra zoomed in does the day.

where is your cctv DVR mounted??

dont forget that most DVRs/PC's get hot after a while. So have proper vents In the roof ? no deal! the DVR would fry here in Australia. [bBQ] UPS.... get the biggest you can afford. Oh and fuse each camera individually. I think its a great idea to hide the DVR. secret panels and all that. my 2c

Dome Camera with 360 Degree Coverage

Cant beat the Mobotix Hemispheric Q24 for price and features , it replaces multiple cams and has a DVR built in. And there not too bad at night either. oh no blind spots z

    Mobile DVR

ah a large one that might be 24volt?. Anyway Mobile DVRs are 12volt so you can use a separate car battery and use that to power the cams. A simple switch box could add the fresh battery while you take the flat one out. -also there are 'automatic circuits' for this at most auto stores. 4x4 and Campers use then also.

    Mobile DVR

you need to be more specific on the mobile part -car,bike,plane person etc ?
  10. I must have my 2c worth here Im very impressed with Visec software and there personalized service . My test machine runs VISEC ver 4 and it runs day and night and never misses a beat. [1 analog and 3 IP cams acti and axis] as the guys say compression is no big deal when using megapixe cams ! z
  11. bit late but...21x wifi cams forget it ! the 2.4ghz spectrum would be very problematic.
  12. bang on ! oh there is the interlacing issue. and 1.3Mp is nice IP CAMS still have a huge way to go especially at night that is. It does annoy me that I can buy a 10Mp camera for $99 down the local super-market but a 10Mp "security" camera is a million bucks .. an it comes with a flash !
  13. most good software will create folders on the fly with the month or day etc. I like using motion detection it cuts down on the amount of 'nothing pics' -But its still a good idea to have an overview camera that records 24x7
  14. maybe one of those megapixel game catching cams ! with IR
  15. yes I have a boggle with the Sanyo IR cut filter cams the delay when lights come on is too slow allowing complete white out then 2 seconds of delay ! .... while the bad guy has walked past !
  16. nice tail-shaft checker thought for a minute you weren't getting the plate ! that other cameras a shocker with the bubble lens ?

    Mobile DVR

The are tons of mobile DVRs 12volt with say 4channels available A PTZ camera with 940nm maybe extreme CCTV gear fits the bill there oops i mean "bosch." You could also get one of those SD card style mini DVR`s also tho the frame rate and RES I cant comment on. I have seen some that do d1 and higher. I would also be looking a an IP camera setup then you can remote control everything. the PTZ and have high res. my 2c
  18. I too use Acti but only for well lit areas -they are good bang for buck. You have to know there capability before judging them. I think Some of the Acti's you describe only run 8fps. oh.... wish list Mr Acti : Timed settings for day and night full shutter control An ACM-3701 with an IR cut filter ! z
