    Camera turns white

I have seen this in many of the cheap IR bullets and domes from China, I think the AS [shutter] is failing and it thinks its night time slowing the shutter causing white out.

    Diagonal Lines... RF Interference?

most AM and FM stations dont have the transmitter near, there linked by landline or microwave many Km away ? but if your one is... sounds like it for sure ! I would grab a CRO and look at the waveform Some Ferrite chokes everywhere might fix z
  4. nar just buy a camera with a macro lens !

    4 channel video modulator

very easy to have each CCTV camera on a separate UHF channel there are many CATV type systems around that take composite video and sound -very good for home installs search on "CATV modulator" in your area for example >5th unit down http://www.hillshomehub.com.au/cattleprod/products/A1205VID http://www.baileyladders.com.au/resource/bundle.1/illusionId=8090&c=published&f=image:jpeg/resource/enlarged.jpg http://www.baileyladders.com.au/resource/bundle.1/illusionId=10703&c=published&f=image:jpeg/resource/enlarged.jpg
  6. most of your pics are blurry m
  7. common problem with IR domes. [thats why I never use them] there is a way of fixing it besides getting better cams. disconnect the IR inside the camera and run separate IR illuminators you will be surprised on how good the picture will be. my 2c

    Automatic camera selector

that's a really bad way of switching the cameras -it will work tho. A better way is to have the cameras powered up and switch the video. via a relay etc. [sPST $5 at any electronics store] but remember if they break into your car they might leave the trunk open which will be no good when there in the front. A small microwave motion detector in the trunk would fix this. [hooked to your video switch relay] z
  9. watch the CPU process's on the machine the same time you have the DVR running and correlate whats is doing it. this tool is free > http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx If that does not work I would start monitoring the video levels with a CRO Also could be power related being system wide. oh might be items going into standby control panel >power my 2c
  10. bit late anyway... QOS is not a policy its a TAG on TCP packet. the switch will run QOS policy if you set it up. [nothing to do with security] Its normally used to give VOIP data a high priority. If you have 2 networks data and cctv at least run 2 VLANs even a 3rd for PTZ control. If you have the $$$ a separate POE switch is the go. like a Cisco 3750ps If you are worried about security run 802.1x on the switch and have a firewall\IDS . An Easier way >run switch port "MAC address" security also which locks down the MAC and amount of users. and send the traps out also for IDS The problems not really with the network, its with IP cameras they have very very basic security. Its quite easy to splice a cat5 and sniff the camera feed and/or add another etc. yes you could put it in a loop feed it with VLC etc etc >but only if its a nuclear base and Jack bauer asked ! hope that give you some ideas
  11. OR..... buy one really good day-night IP camera and a IR illuminator that way you get a great picture and can use your PC as the DVR use milestones 1 cam free dvr and its all gravy ! cams [make sure its got an IR cut filter or separate cam for night] arecont 3130 etc acti 7411 acti bullet AXIS IR cut jobbies IR Extreme raymax axton microlight Ebay but watch out most is crapola [Tube type luxeon style aint bad] and you'll have some spare cash for bullets ! my 2c
  12. that's a really poo setup HI-res to low-res displayed as low-res on a Hi-res monitor -hmmmm..... Should be using the Plasma's HDMI connection running 1920x from the source ! Even VGA would be better than a modulator /CATV setup be ok I guess for an overview. you can get HDMI to cat5 extenders now which would do the job and give you a great result. most modern PC graphics cards have HDMI out so its all good. [say if you were Running Axis C-S. on the PC\DVR] z

    ANPR System help

ANPR VISEC good price and uses IP based cameras. As for the camera any quality IP camera with a ZOOM to get into the zone. But there are IR based analog systems which are also good like the REGx z
  14. With your budget I would use 3 Ebay units 2 med power left and right of the drive and one high power up high filling in the front [just for overview] The guys are right you need good contrast up close to ID people -most of the cheaper cams blast out too much IR and you get white out. Easy to fix get a mate to stand near your car as a test subject, then slowly tape off areas of your cams IR LED's [with black tape] till the white out is gone and you get good contrast. This is the trick I use to fine tune -bit ugly but great pic`s ho cares ! I have one of those big IR blaster cams and it has like 6 big luxeon LED's and a mixture of smaller LEDs -the whole IR section is taped off bar one LED because at 10-20 feet it was whited out -now its fine. The real good stuff has variable power -about time they add this to all IR cams ! $200 should be enough to buy 3 units [they also have variable beamwidth] these seem to be good bang for buck and low profile> http://stores.ebay.com/eDogPro_IR-illuminator_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZQ2d1QQfsubZ138288015QQftidZ2QQtZkm my 2c
  15. you need a 4 ch mobile DVR and 4 hidden cameras -pinholes etc and a separate power supply -big 12v battery If its only one side or direction you could use a mini DVR that uses SD cards with motion detect. Also you could do it with IP and send the video to your PC at work -via WIFI etc my 2c
  16. hi res then you will need an IP camera for starters. Im quite impressed with the ACTI line good bang for buck one of their IR bullets would do the job ACM-1511 does 1.3 Megapixel and has an IR cut filter and has a small zoom. POE to boot sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet yes they are $1000+ Au ! but they do the job -just fixing your car will cost that And after you have beaten him to a pulp you can show the police a nice mega pixel shot that he was fine before he fell up the stairs z
  17. good test ! tho I must say only one real IR illuminator was used the rest are Ebay toys. If a properly spec`ed`IR unit a Extreme cctv, rayled, cantroncs or microlight was used your whole backyard would be lit up like a xmas tree. The other problem was most cameras see IR by accident not by design. If you had of used an "IR camera" say a extreme FSX-800 the difference would be amazing. keep the good work up
  18. seeing no one has answered.... Using 4 separate WIFI cameras would not be the go in this situation [say like axis 206-207mw`s] I would use 1 separate high power WAP @ least 100mw and an external antennas on the mobile unit so the 'control' room end has a clean signal . most have a 4 port switch so that's covered. You need a strong link to have the maximum throughput- bandwidth. I have used cisco 1230 series they are great and you can turn just one antenna on.- but you need to know cisco well. As for cameras if you dont need megapixel something like acti 4100`s. they have some IP6X rated ones too but I take it that wont last long in your factory so some very buff enclosures will be needed -up to you. At the control room end directional antennas like a 10 dbi patches up high pointing down range will ensure a clean signal. oh The WAP`'s must be able to be put in "bridge mode" also. All this needs to be bench tested first. and frame rates adjusted. the DVR i`ll leave to you -milestone\visec I have used -there ok ps cheap cameras are blocky !
  19. Acti would be my choice [For your budget] that picture looks like the DVR`s compression is too high ? do you leave the lights on all the time? [if not might need IR and a good IP cam] Even the low end Acti 4200 has a better picture as does the AXIS 20X series If you go the IR cut filter path may as well do it right with IR illumination Better to have a sharp picture than a grainy color one I just had a thief break into 6 cars here -he made the mistake of walking into my front yard its got enough IR to be seen from space, my pelco spectra color ""night camera""" grabbed a blury half ass'ed shot my IR IP cam wow! 1.3megapixel happy snap the police were most impressed z
  20. protecting a fence line you would use IR/LASER barriers or Microwave possibly ground seismic or fibre optic style vibration senors I prefer multiple encoded IR beam style it has 6 or so beams AXIS has now have the M series [PIR and pre recorded messages] very cool -but low res hope they make a version for grown-ups soon m

    PTZ basics, help needed.

hi, first > that diagram has the IO around the wrong way IDIOTS ! you can check the data with a LED and 560 OHM resistor -it will flash with data bursts from your commands. A multimeter will show a small voltage -like 5v if you have the correct pair. I just tested the geovision [1120]with a pana 850 PTZ and it works fine -tho the panning increments are too small to be of use >do your self a favour and get a real ptz joystick >my programs not too bad but its only for setup and testing > z
  22. I agree...... so many times some idiot has crashed in me and said it was my fault, that's why I carry a digital camera around there no escaping that ! It saved me many a time. [Audi vs WRX] i`ll be putting in a quad with all corners covered. [4 cams] I will use my reversing cam as one. I'm not paranoid the people following me are....
  23. FYI...cams dont make anything safe ..... ! ? ! [its management drivel] I would be using a bunch of 5Mp plus IP cameras then you can zoom in on any detail you need. you wont need to pan or tilt! 16Mp if you can afford it -with GB switches. cover all exits with solid setups IR/normnal illumination to fill any gaps in lighting. my 2c
  24. some examples "super flexible wire" http://www.multi-contact-usa.com/products/cableline/1 http://www.lappusa.com/sect3contents.htm You will also find the multimeter leads will work -most that have silicone outside coverings. Some model shops sell it for battery connections. z
