try mjpeg -
FYI.... you only need around 1/1000 to capture plates up to 100kph 1/100000 ? WTF ? If its night blast the plate with IR. Put a 850 filter on it otherwise day-night focus shift will be bad. my 2c

Strange internet problems, even for a seasoned tech
zmxtech replied to bpzle's topic in Computers/Networking
Just fixed a clients network something took out the ADSL MODEM and the LAN card, power spike I guess ! Z -
yep I think ILK has it try some different lenses You also get shrouding when something is blocking the lens [holes not big enough?] z
-
you will need: 1/ Camera box style -IR cut filter 1/3 or 1/2 '' 2/ 1km away you will need a LASER to illuminate the target. 3/ PTZ controller and motor 4/ The lens I calculate a 800mm lens [i think fuji do a 750mm] 5/ A DVR to record all the fun There are some nice PTZ cams but 1km maybe not. 10k might buy the lens ? Might be better to spend the money on an IP camera [360 Deg omni mobotix?] and a wireless link to your base then you get clear images and the cost will be maybe $5k -just a thought also add -solar panel, charger, batteries and lighting my 2c zmx
-
it will be the out socket [rj45] only 2 pins are needed for PTZ [+and-] data There will be something like 5v on the TX data when you find it -move the stick you should see small voltage spikes -a CRO could be used. z

burn the offender try 18,000 lumens ! of infrared

New To CCTV, System Suggestions For Outdoor Use
zmxtech replied to mpcd's topic in General Digital Discussion
you only have 3 overviews which is no good if you want to actually catch an ID I would suggest 1 wide angle catch all, 1 cam at your front door a left and right camera that are zoomed into the footpaths to get IDs. on the left you have a well lit bus stop there so use that to your advantage. on the right a street light -more light for free that will get you best shots. And yes any camera will take a good static shot if the shutter is slow, but this is useless if there is motion -person walking or a car. my 2c -
I know about the little CD, the `setup cam`s worked fine the 'video system' never worked kept bombing out. I have re-installed another version now I can see the settings ! still cant see custom exposure zones does it have back-light controls hiding anywhere?
-
I would have white light Illuminator and a IP camera [say 1.2Mp] running at 1/1000 it could check the car out before it even stopped at the gate. mag sensors could turn that on. A thermal camera will pick out any funky objects for sure tho might be pretty hot under there. -the prices are coming down I dont think a speed bump cam is not going give the Res you need to sus it out right -tho it will give an overview -and it will need more light for a whole view it might take 2 or 3 cams+ but hey that's easy my 2c

why are my installs never as clear as i imagine?
