Opinions on ACTi 1.3 megapix cameras ?
zmxtech replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
some demo pics would be nice -day and night of the same location Im looking at their IR bullet cam mmmmm z -
or.........Get with this century and put hi-res IP cams in ? yes they are twice the price but you need less of them and the results are very good. option1 Analog 60+ cams> muddy pictures and tons of wiring and AMPS coax etc option2 Digital maybe 20 cams and clear crisp images.... cat5-6 POE sweet ...... And you will have what happened not a analog story from a distance... option3 roof mounted fisheye lens's with the de-wrapping software just some thoughts..... zmx

I'm going elsewhere now with another IP cam company starting with an "A" > your loss ARNOT oops did I spell that wrong ....... -
If your not dumping too much data, you can drop to 5k speed drives they seem to last longer generally >if its not a heat issue that is... my 2c

yes if you are using more IP cam they go into a switch [POE] this means they send power up the cable for the camera. Free DVR software is everywhere -milestone, axis are good and give a free 1 channel versions they run on top of the OS -XP etc . there maybe some cut down versions of LINUX that are standalone. but it will run the vendors software anyway. z

sounds like the cams internal sync is interfering with the circuitry in the card. The Sony chip set might have a funky clock speed. With fluro lighting -another signal 50-1200Hz is being superimposed / added into the video to make it worse probably. my 2c ps might be the Kama monster? -I was looking at using geovision here in Australia they are not returning Emails ehhh! guess they don't need more customers .....

AS they guys said you could change the lens to an IR happy one [teflon tape will hold it in] but..... Your "Matrix IR-Tile" will work with IR day-night cams and a "little bit" with non -im afraid it's really junk, put them both on Ebay and put the money towards something better eg> something like an acti ACM-1431 IR IP bulletcam ,AXIS if you have the $$$ but built in IR would be good for you. For a guard tower you should have something that fits its importance. -no not ice cream .... my 2c

Ip License plate camera
zmxtech replied to Securitymaster's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
there are not many IP cam ones yet, http://www.visec.co.za/features.htm are doing it. it depends highly on the software also. use the best of both words -an IR NP cam for the plate and a overview cam of the car. I have used RegX and REG and they are both fine units, one day they will all be IP ! If your client cant afford a real one walk away ! -

Anyone used microtek wireless equipment?
zmxtech replied to v2comp's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
forgot to ask: What model ? are you using turbo mode ? what is the signal strength ? Have you measured the latency with a ping ? Have you put the encoder and decoder back to back with a crossover cable then is the image still not clear ? is the PTZ commands still slow... z -
Sunlight, Image Sensor Damage
zmxtech replied to ClintF's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
most cams have a IR filter glued or bolted which will stop most LASER's damaging IR components. If it was the sun or a LASER [even 100mW+] you could see the pixels that don't work. And a burn mark on the grass where the ship landed..... -

Anyone used microtek wireless equipment?
zmxtech replied to v2comp's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I think your problem is latency with the encoders. If you use high bandwidth IP links with a strong signal :ie 54Mb bridge and IP cameras even 5Mp ones you wont have this problem. I say 'strong signal' because the speed drops when the signal drops of course z -

HELP Designing a wireless point to point surveillance system
zmxtech replied to iestx's topic in System Design
poachers vs wireless Something like the axis 35x optical IP dome, remember to hide or amour your gear poachers shoot and steal everything including you shiny new camera ! [even from km`s away] A Pelco spectra 4 or axis http://www.axis.com/products/cam_233d/index.htm Also add IR lots of it. maybe a laser one for power conservation 20w http://www.electrophysics.com/Browse/Brw_ProductLineCategory.asp?CategoryID=94&Area=NV the bad guys hunt at night of course. High power WIFI unit and high gain antennas -you can get integrated systems easily The ultimate would be an active range gate camera http://www.vumii.com/productsitem.jsp?content=1 my 2 c z -

Vivotek - Large install
zmxtech replied to d-tech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
just to add their spec`s are not flash low light capability of 1 lux means its poor ! they are only good in daytime -useless in a club etc. you should get a demo first before you buy 90, I would be looking at better quality and more mega pixels =less cameras and bandwidth. You cant go wrong with most of the AXIS cams for example [twice the price tho] z -

IP camera wire run length
zmxtech replied to Media's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Its also highly dependent on the quality of wire [use CAT6] and the brand/model of switch you are using . the official lengths are only a guide really. but if its just to far you have to use extenders z
